Cowboys WR Sam Hurd Turns Down Paycut

Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News reports Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Sam Hurd has turned a proposed paycut.

Hurd was a restricted free agent this off-season who the Cowboys tendered at the "Second Round" level, which carries a $1.759 million base salary this season. Dallas trimmed $2 million off their payroll on Friday by trading Patrick Crayton to the San Diego Chargers, but they apparently want to slash more salary before it becomes guaranteed.

Last week, Hurd said that it would be "mean as heck" if he were to be released because of his salary.

"I mean, let us all eat. They're eating. Why can't I?", Hurd said of his salary.

In 50 career games, Hurd has started just 5 times, and only once since the 2007 season. Hurd has 31 receptions for 510 yards and two touchdowns, with 43 special teams tackles during his four years with the Cowboys, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois in 2006.
