Chiefs Add Third QB Off Practice Squad

After going with two quarterbacks throughout the regular season, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed practice squad quarterback Tyler Palko to the 53-man roster.

Rookie cornerback Jackie Bates has been placed on injured reserve, and rookie linebacker Micah Johnson has been signed to the practice squad.

Since going undrafted out of the University of Pittsburgh in 2007, Palko (6-1, 215) has bounced around between the New Orleans Saints (2007), Arizona Cardinals (2008-09), and Pittsburgh Steelers (2009) before reunited with Chiefs head coach Todd Haley, Arizona's offensive coordinator in 2008, in March.

Palko completed 24-of-42 pass attempts for 215 yards and 3 interceptions in three pre-season games before he was waived in September.

In what could potentially add some intrigue to the situation, Nick Wright of 610 Sports in Kansas City reports that Matt Cassel isn't practicing today.
