Chargers Place Tolbert, Cooper on IR

The San Diego Chargers announced that running back Mike Tolbert and linebacker Stephen Cooper have been placed on injured reserve.

Running back Curtis Brinkley and linebacker Darry Beckwith have been signed off the team's practice squad.

Cooper averaged over 100 tackles between 2007-09, but injuries have limited the 6-1, 235-pound inside linebacker to 12 games, in which Cooper has 43 tackles, 1 quarterback sack, and 1 interception.

Cooper missed last Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, and hadn't practiced during this week's preparations for the regular season finale against the Denver Broncos.

Tolbert suffered a neck/shoulder injury against the Bengals.

The former undrafted free agent from Coastal Carolina established career-highs this season with 735 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground, and 25 receptions for 216 yards as a receiver out of the backfield.

Cooper will be an unrestricted free agent in the off-season, while Tolbert is scheduled to be a restricted free agent.
