Chargers Hire ST Coach Rich Bisaccia

Poor special teams play is the primary reason the San Diego Chargers, who ranked 1st in total offense and defense yet finished 9-7 in 2010, are not in the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

San Diego fired special teams coach Steve Crosby on "Black Monday", and Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports Rich Bisaccia has been hired to replace him.

Bisaccia has coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' special teams the last nine seasons, adding the "Assistant Head Coach" title in 2009. Bisaccia's contract with the Buccaneers was expiring after 2010, but it was expected that Raheem Morris would attempt to retain him.
