Bills Reach Deals With Moats, Brown

Adam Caplan of Scout.com reports the Buffalo Bills have reached deals with two more players from their nine-member 2010 NFL Draft Class.

Agreeing to deals this morning are sixth-round (178th overall) linebacker Arthur Moats, and seventh-round (209th overall) quarterback Levi Brown. Caplan notes that Moats received around $112,000 in guaranteed money, while Brown received around $69,000.

Moats (6-0, 246) played defensive end at James Madison, totaling 218 tackles, including 48.5 for a loss and 18 quarterback sacks. Moats was first-team All-CAA, was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, and was the Buck Buchanan Award winner, given annually to the best defensive player in the FCS, after the 2009 season.

Moats is expected to play outside linebacker in the Bills' 3-4 defensive system.

Brown began his college career at Richmond, transferring to Troy after the 2006 season. A red-shirt in 2007, Brown was a two-year starter for the Trojans, completing 62.8% of his 830 pass attempts for 6,284 yards, with 38 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Brown was named the Sun Belt Conference "Newcomer of the Year" in 2008, and last season won conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year honors.

The 6-3, 229-pound Brown has a strong, accurate arm, good leadership skills (was named a team captain in 2009), and excellent mobility, but is considered to be a bit of a project coming out of a spread offense in college. Brown could stick around in Buffalo as the team's third quarterback this season.

Moats and Brown are the fourth and fifth Bills' draft choices to reach deals, joining fifth-round offensive tackle Ed Wang, sixth-round linebacker Danny Batten, and seventh-round offensive tackle Kyle Calloway.
