The Arizona Cardinals Football Club LLC is seeking to rezone the area surrounding University of Phoenix Stadium from agriculture use to mixed-used development for two projects that include office buildings, two hotels, and apartment buildings totaling 250 units.

Sportsman's Park East would be comprised of one four-story office building, and two six-story buildings. Sportsman's Park West would have three 200-foot tall buildings, with remaining structures at half the size.

Nearby residents are concerned.

"I didn't envision this kind of density near the stadium," Ken Sturgis said. "Apartments are bad enough, but you are adding hotels, 400 (rooms) on the west side and 150 (rooms) on the east side."

The Glendale Planning Commission will hear the issue on July 15.
