The Cincinnati Bengals have placed second-year right tackle Andre Smith on season-ending injured reserve, Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Smith broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot, the same injury that ended his rookie season and caused him to miss the team's OTAs, mini-camps, and much of the team's 2010 training camp.

Smith (6-4, 345) started four of the seven games he's been active this season, including the last three games. For his career, the sixth overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft has started five of the 13 games he's been active.

To replace Smith on the 53-man roster, first-year cornerback Rico Murray was signed off the team's practice squad.
