Bears Sign 6th Round QB Dan LeFevour

The Chicago Bears announced the signing of sixth-round quarterback Dan LeFevour.

LeFevour, the 181st overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Central Michigan, received a four-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 6-3, 230-pound native of Downers Grove, Illinois completed 66.4% of his passes for 12,905 yards, 102 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. LeFevour also ran for 2,948 yards and 47 touchdowns, topping 1,100 yards during his sophomore season. LeFevour was the MAC Freshman of the Year in 2006, is a three-time first-team All-MAC selection, two-time MAC Offensive Player of the Year, earned MVP honors of the 2006 Motor City Bowl, 2007 and 209 MAC Championship games, 2010 GMAC Bowl, and the most outstanding player on the North squad at the 2010 Senior Bowl.

A spread quarterback who is learning how to take snaps from center, LeFevour needs to work on his mechanics to succeed in the NFL. With Jay Cutler the present and future at the Bears' quarterback position, the Bears can take their time and develop LeFevour, who has the physical talent to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.

LeFevour is the fourth of the Bears' five 2010 draft picks to sign a contract. Third-round safety Major Wright remains unsigned.
