Bears DB Danieal Manning Signs RFA Tender

Chicago Bears restricted free agent defensive back Danieal Manning has signed his one-year tender, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Manning was tendered at the "Original Round" level, and will earn $1.176 million dollars in base salary in 2010.

A second-round pick (42nd overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft out of Abilene-Christian, the 5-11, 198-pound Manning has started 40 of his 61 games for the Bears over the last four season, totaling 271 tackles, 2 quarterback sacks, and six interceptions. Manning has also forced six fumbles, broken up 17 passes, and notched a safety in the 2009 season-opener against the Green Bay Packers.

Manning is the last of the Bears' restricted free agents to sign his one-year tender. Manning has been working at safety during the OTAs, but has the versatility to play outside and could be used as the team's nickel or dime cornerback on obvious passing downs.
