Asante Samuel Rips the Patriots

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel isn't a fan of the media, but Geoff Mosher of The News Journal scored an exclusive interview with the cornerback, during which Samuel didn't have kind things to say about his five seasons in New England.

"I ain't never said it, but (head coach Bill) Belichick, I just felt like he had a thing for me," Samuel said. "He had something against me. I have no idea why. He was going to start Troy Brown , a receiver, at nickel [corner] and I'm over here sitting healthy and he don't want to even play me."

Mosher reports the Patriots used 2006 injury reports to refute Samuel's assertion.

A started in 75 of a possible 80 games for the Patriots, Samuel totaled 232 tackles, 22 interceptions, three returned for touchdowns, and 61 passes defensed. Samuel was franchised in 2007, after which he went to the first of his three Pro Bowls, but he never felt as though the Patriots fans embraced him.

"Ty Law in New England, he's making all these picks. Oh, he's a great corner, this and that," Samuel said. "But I all of a sudden go and do it [and it's], 'Oh, he's in a Cover 2 defense, that's why he isn't as good and this and that.' But when Ty Law does it, it's all gravy."
