Aaron Schobel Works Out For Texans

Free agent defensive end Aaron Schobel worked out for the Houston Texans, reports John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

McClain adds that a signing is not imminent.

A former second-round pick out of TCU, Schobel had 78 career sacks over his nine-year career with the Buffalo Bills, including 10 sacks in 16 games last season. The 33-year old Schobel lives outside of Houston and played for Texans defensive line coach Bill Kollar during his stint with Buffalo.

Since being released by the Bills in August, Schobel has drawn interest from the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, and Texans, but has publicly stated his intention to retire from professional football.

The Texans lost defensive ends Connor Barwin and Tim Bulman for the season in Week 1, and have signed veteran defensive ends Ryan Denney and Adewale Ogunleye. Thus far, neither player has filled the pass-rush void created by Barwin's injury the way a player like Schobel could.

Until he files his retirement papers, Schobel will continue to be on the Texans' radar screen.
