6-Years, $29M for Broncos G Chris Kuper

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the six-year contract extension Denver Broncos guard Chris Kuper signed today is worth $29 million dollars.

Wilson adds that Kuper received $13 million dollars is guaranteed, and that Kuper's deal includes a "split" bonus, indicating the presence of a signing bonus in 2010 and an option bonus in later years.

While Kuper is well taken care of, his extension does not appear to be in the same class as New Orleans Saints All-Pro guard Jahri Evans' seven-year, $56.7 million dollar contract extension, which will pay out $25.7 million dollars over the next three seasons. This deal will also do very little in the New England Patriots' negotiations with Pro Bowl restricted free agent guard Logan Mankins, aside from perhaps establishing a floor for what's guaranteed in his contract.
