I’d say Harman because of his special teams play and showing he can be clutch when needed. There’s a lot of value to having an experienced ST player who handles punts and KO’s. More than being a good blocker IMO.

This one to me is a no-brainer they have to keep both 7, Heath has performed well when needed has shown dependable hands and will contest willingly for any pass and can block, Hardman is smart, fast and experienced with punt returns. Watsons return from ACL and injury history, Doubs with his multiple concussions are both at-risk receivers that can disappear anytime any moment. Packers need to keep both....

I think Heath also pays on Special Teams. According to my quick google search, he played on team s more than all other receivers combined in 2023. Can that be right? In a run first team, I prefer his blocking and short yardage hands over Hardman.

Edit: This assumes that Naylor, Sheppard, Johnson and Hicks are not close in the battle. Maybe someone else will show up!

This is a really tough call. MLF really likes what Heath brings as a blocker, and with Watson out and two rookies with either unproven (Williams) or possibly negligible (Golden) blocking ability, that maybe leaves more of a chance for Heath.

But Hardman would be nice to have as a returner as we wouldn't need to put either Nixon or Reed back there. And although I never really focused on Hardman when he was with Kansas City, I would hope he is a little smarter than Nixon about when and when not to return the ball on kickoffs; you don't want any mental farts when you now get the ball at the 35-yard line on a touchback.

Hardman's arrow has been pointing down for a few seasons now. It is revealing he has not yet seized the PR/KR roles. If he does not step up this part of his game over the next 3 weeks, I don't see why he'd be on the 53 with continued inconsistency in his play.

With Heath, you know what you will get...consistently. He blocks like he loves it and leads by example in WR room to help plow the road. He has never had the dropsies. And he fights for every ball in his radius. His pedestrian 4.6 WR speed is overcome by solid, disciplined route running. Love can depend on him to do his job.

Heath is a great locker room guy, but on the field is JAG. I see a lot of 12 and 21 in our future, so what is the value of a #7 WR? Think far more likely they focus on Williams blocking or rely on a TE split wide if they really want that element rather than keep Heath (PS maybe)

ST has gone far more to defensive players, so his role on SaT is also reduced.

Seems like a nice guy, but would rather have the depth in the DB room where there will be some tough calls already (and where they have an emergency WR if necessary)

Trade Doubs before he has another concussion

This is what the Pack needs to do: Trade Doubs and ANY DE to the Bengals for Hendrickson as well as up to a #2 draft pick....AND go win us a Damn Super Bowl....Watson will return early....We got the rest of what we need...minus a possible better CB upgrade. Let's roll with it. Doubs keeps making cryptic statements....he's good, but I don't think GB will throw all the coin his way....Parsons would be the long term answer, but GB would have to dump a bunch of #1 picks to Jerry and a better player than Doubs...more than likely.

Shocked at the second and third string receivers on the vikes. Circus catches, speed, great hands. Wow they have a real problem with way too much talent.
I don't think highly of McCarthy but he will have multiple targets open. Even an avg qb can work with that.
Vikes will be tougher then I thought, not so Lions and Bears.

This is a tough one because they are so different. On the surface, I like the idea of keeping both, but keeping 7 WRs may be difficult when they also should keep 4 RBs. And then when Watson comes back, they would probably have to cut one anyway because 8 WRs would be ridiculous. This works against Hardman because I heard that, as a vested veteran, his full season's salary is guaranteed if he's on the roster on day one. So they really wouldn't want to have him start the season and cut him later. Better to cut him before the season begins if they're not sure he should be with the team all season.

Hardman seemed to have a lot of momentum in the minicamps, but not so much lately. He has not seized the punt return job, but maybe that's just because they already know he can do it, so there's no reason for him to dominate the reps in practice. I guess I still lean toward Hardman over Heath, but not by much. I like the thought of handing him the punt AND kick return duties so Reed and Nixon (and Golden, for that matter) don't have to worry about it. I don't know if they're even considering him for returning kickoffs though.

How about neither?

It is too early to see how I think everything fits, but I am all for 3 TEs and/or 5 WRs if it means keeping Stackhouse and Brinson on the DL (GB could dump Wooden if necessary to help out with numbers), and to ensure that Cox and Enagbare make the 53 (at least until I see a lot out of Sorrell and Oliver). In other words, my priority is guys who have proven they can play Edge and new talent along the DL. Brooks and Wooden are entering their third seasons. Both are bad against the run, but Brooks has considerable pass rushing juice. Wooden was a tweener who bulked up for year 2 and it did not help. Now he is bulked up and had another year in the weight room. Wooden needs to bring it. I think Brooks is safe since he does something well at an NFL caliber pace.

Things and my opinion might change after a tonight's game and the remaining games and scrimmages.

who cares about kickoff returns anymore?how many did we have last year? 3? with the new, terrible kickoff rules, being a returner on kickoffs means practically nothing. heath is a below average receiver who won't be missed if he gets cut.how many splash plays has he made in two years? heath is a big reason we brought in all these new hands. cut heath and put him on the practice squad if you want. it's not like any team is going to scoop him up and add him to their 53

I’d go with Hardman for the potential returner duties. We have TE that can block and if Melton makes the 53 as a CB5 he can serve as WR the few times we’d need WR6-7. It would not be a bad idea to have someone in the locker room that has played in a pro championship game. Agree with TGR don’t need four TE

Everyone seems to say this receiver decision comes down to Hardman or Heath. After the way they both played in the first preseason game it should be neither. Because neither one made a strong case for staying. Hardman probably now has the lead on getting his foot out the door because he would cost more to keep and that is just a business decision. His forte is supposed to be special teams and returning and well, we all saw what we saw. He ain't worth it.
