Just watched film of Javeon Howard - RB Alcorn State. 5'10",215 lbs. Has run 4.46 - 40. He will be interesting to following in camp.

I liked Jarveon Howard as a small school RB option late on. Glad to see him here. Trente Jones has athleticism and performed well in big games when called on, but seldom started. Why would be interesting to know, because he’s got upside. One or two who might bring something to the party worth developing.

Found some highlights from Hicks. I have to say I like his hands, burst and elusiveness. He’s certainly athletic as his RAS suggests. Seems like he has a good academic record too.

Swinson is a 6’7” 260 pound TE. Apparently only really started to learn routes and the passing game in 2022. Although he was a TE in high school, he was almost entirely a blocker until he arrived Arizona as a transfer in 2022. If he indeed can block well, could be a very nice pick up to further develop. He’s not fast. Needs strength added based on his Bench.

I think some of these guys might just be rookie camp invites. Gutey said they only had room for 6 or 7 UDFAs after the 11 picks. Although maybe they've released some other players to make room.

Everybody's invited to camp. Hopefully there's legitimate competition and at every spot ...

PFN suggests you are right. 7 are UDFAs on the list below if I counted correctly. I’d expect a couple of cuts post mini csmp if we like any invitees too, typically.
RB – Jarveon Howard, Alcorn State
TE – Messiah Swinson, Arizona State
OT – Donovan Jennings, USF
OT – Trente Jones, Michigan
DT – James Ester, Northern Illinois
DT – Rodney Matthews, Ohio
LS – Peter Bowden, Wisconsin
WR – Julian Hicks, Albany (Invited to Minicamp)
OL – Mike Bertoia, UW-La Crosse (Invited to Minicamp)
S – Don Callis, Troy (Invited to Minicamp)
K – Alex McNulty, Buffalo (Invited to Minicamp)
P – Porter Wilson, Duke (Invited to Minicamp)

They are usually pretty stingy with the bonuses to USFAs compared to some teams(Vikings) but they really wanted Jennings. They gave him a $10,000 bonus and a $100,000 overall guarantee against his salary.
Actually Jennings would have made more sense in the 6th than Glover. He hits their agility thresholds, had a good but not great vertical and 28 reps on the bench. Has the length for T but they might see him as a G.

I really like Glover and Jennings as more than just camp bodies. Glover needs more work.

Yeah, I like Glover being the pick just for the shear size he brings into Green Bay for development. It's all technique work that he requires: foot speed, forward body lean, redirecting on inside rushes... but, he's no slouch with elite multiple-position starting experience, size & power. Tough. Attitude. Reliable too. Never missed a game.
Glover's got the NASTY. Runs defenders into the ground, then goes back for seconds...
6-6 332 with nearly 35" arms.

Underdogs are fun and every now and then one finds a true gem. Sam Shields being an example. Tramon Williams was a UDFA, although not ours originally. Emanuel Wilson was a UDFA last year as was Malik Heath. Both beat out a draft pick, both could contribute this year.
Shields and Tramon aside, it’s fun looking to see if we have the next Wes Walker, Nate Newton, Jason Peters, Priest Holmes, Adam Vinatieri, Antonio Gates or Willie Wood.

Hey, pipe down there, Mister!!! LOL
I love this shit. Super fun. Some gems do present from time to time. I was just reading about 6-1 311 NT Rodney Mathews' 2.82 RAS... He had a 4'5" broad jump. This is quality material, my friend.
Harry, I'm not saying you're wrong, either!!! Too funny.

Here’s hoping that Bowden can beat out Orzech for a roster spot. Orzech was bad last season.

If Edge was a need before the draft, and we didn't pick any, I would try to sign Watts from U Conn. At least he would have a chance to make the team. Green Bay does not attack the UFDAs aggressively like they should. The Nebraska DB, Omar Brown is a player that would have a reasonable chance too.

Nothing against Watts, whom I would have been happy to draft late, but I think the Packers make more of UDFA than the vast majority of teams.
I think we are seeing two things, that they like what they have and knew they weren’t short one due to ACL injury as we all thought. Also we saw a number of inside players who have rush skills. Generally, any 4:3 attacks the QB differently. It seems Hafley will look to do so outside of base more, based upon picks, comments and history.

They've also added 35 picks over the last three years so there just isn't the room that there would if they had only added 21.

I think Keyshawn Banks and Brenton Cox Jr. might be coming into play here with this at EDGE. Same with Gutekunst's sneaky under radar January signings of Deslin Alexandre & Deandre Johnson...at EDGE. I found both to be interesting additions.
Cox Jr. could be the speed rusher we always wanted from the 2024 draft but never got a sniff of... I think he'll have a much better fit in Hafley's D.

Just heard today that Enagbare’s knee injury was not a fully torn ACL which likely means a quicker return. Good news!
