Bad: injuries continue to mount, run defense, missed tackles, officials, Coaches, players, 2016 Packers...

Ugly: Packers first quarter.

Ugly: Peppers run defense.

Bad: Everything about this season

Good: With the play of this team nothing more to worry about. No playoffs, no expectations, no more stress. Finally, as Rodgers once suggested, we can R-E-L-A-X.

Michael Silver wrote an interesting article on NFL.com . For once someone said what McCarthy has had to deal with for 11 years. I'm not giving McCarthy a pass, but he can only coach with what he has. Silver brings up what many won't write...The coaching staff is frustrated with Thompson's lack aggressiveness in FA.

Ugly: Mike McCarthy

Bill Belichick, as far as I know, is the only 10+ year head coach to win a super-bowl. I don't think Mike is anywhere near his class. It's time to do what Elway did in Denver and if Thompson won't do it then he can go too.

The Good...The Packers should be drafting in the Top 10 of the Draft.

The Bad... The Packers Management could possibly say this seasons woes are solely because of injuries.

The Ugly.... Because of the Injuries TT and MM could actually be be back in 2017.

Bonus Good... The Packers have 10 Free Agents after this season. That should clean up a lot of cap space for the New GM and get rid of some more "Bad" and "Ugly".

Interesting you bring up cap space. Given TT's singular focus on spending on retaining good players, it is obvious there is little need to retain most of the expiring contracts i.e., Perry, Jones, Lang, et al). If he cannot present a coherent plan to Murphy he should be fired. In no circumstance should MM and hjs staff be allowed to return.

If you recall, before the 2015 season several articles were written and many fans brought up the point as well. How would the Packers respond to being 5:07 away from the SB WITH the ball, only to blow the lead then the game.

Even during the 6-0 start last season this team looked different. In week 7 the cat was let out of the bag and this team hasn't recovered. This team, especially Rodgers doesn't have any respect for McCarthy and the way he throws others under the bus, anyone else.

As crazy as it sounds, it might be time to shop Rodgers. Once again this season comments have been made about Rodgers in a negative light. He loves all the glory, wants ALL the praise, but is quick to throw a teammate under a bus.

Last thought... When was the last time you saw Rodgers stand in the pocket and take a big hit in order to complete a pass? Instead he runs from the hit and by the time he's set to throw the receiver is covered up and the opportunity is gone. It may sound strange but I haven't seen him take one for the good of the team in a long, long, time!

Thanks again NP or saying what we all have thought of at some point. Leaves me lttle to say today other than to express my disgust with the downward spiral this team is in and that since the NFCG MM has more than ever coached like a deer in the headlights. Worse still, TT and management think that nothing is wrong.

The good: Jordy Nelson. Had a monster game. Nice to see Starks back.

The bad: no running game
- 5 sacks given up
- nearly a dozen penalties
-3 turnovers
-another dreadful start to the game

Why is Ty Montgomery not being used suddenly??!

The ugly: injuries to Bakhtiari and Lang
Don Barclay getting playing time
Rodgers losing his cool
Richard Rodgers dropping a 4th down pass
Delanie Walker looking unstoppable

This team is officially a dumpster fire.

"Why is Ty Montgomery not being used suddenly??!"

I really don't get McCarthys thinking. He doesn't play Ripkowski, doesn't play Janis, Allison, Davis and Montgomery. Yet I saw a lot of Rodgers and Perillo out there. Oh and now that Starks is back he goes back to strictly using 11 personnel?
One play in particular still bothers me. It was 3rd and goal, they kept the same offense on the field (11 personnel) vs substituting. They send Starks in motion to the sideline. He runs a 3 yard route and offers nothing. I don't get it. Why not spread them out with 5 actual WRs?

It defies any sort of reason based on the facts of the last 21 games and is more similar to a sort of delusion than anything else.

I really don't get it.

If they were the best players on the offense, I would get it. But they are not. Starks and Rodgers are not head and shoulders better then Montgomery, Davis, Janis, Allison... If anything those players are better and offer more.

The funny thing is, just this past week McCarthy was babbling about what an important part Montgomery was of what they do around there.

Ummm...No Mike, Montgomery's NOT an important part because what you've been doing is losing. Since you hardly put him on the field I don't think he can be called "Important" to anything, especially the losing.

I watched today's disaster from bell to bell. Several friends texted me that they turned it off at some point. I had to watch. The ineptitude continued without so much as letting up from the start of this game right to the finish. It really was a sight to behold.

I watch every week and I know full well how bad this team is playing. The lack of talent acquisition from Thompson. The unimaginative, stubborn coaching from McCarthy. The dropoff in play from some players. The non-development of UFAs and late round picks. The lack of fire and discipline. It's all happening, and it all happened today from wire to wire.

The voice in my head that wants the Packers to lose out so TT and MM get whacked is starting to yell louder than the voice in my head that actually wants this team to turn it around and make a run (as if they possibly could.)

I watched the entire thing as well.

I hear you on the voices in your head. I said earlier I'm not fully ready to give up on the year. But it's getting harder to want to see them just blow the season get better draft picks and blow up the coaching staff.

One thing I am interested in seeing. Does McCarthy have it in him to get rid of Capers in season?

MM isn't going to fire Capers. Many times in the past MM has complimented Capers by saying how professional his meetings are.

No, MM will continue to spout trite cliches like we need to "tackle better," "play faster," "work on our pad level," and "get back to fundamentals" to address the problems.

I don't know about anyone else, but I believe in reincarnation. And as a believer I believe we all have past lives. I also believe Mike McCarthy has had a past life--as the orchestra conductor on the Titanic.

I don't see it happening. Just wondering if that type of move would spark the team?

In all honesty. McCarthy is right in his cliche's. How many missed tackles did the defense have? And pad level is very important. If gives you the leverage. When you watch these plays that the Packers gave up, they didn't do their responsibility. They got out of position.

The measure of leadership is how well one can get those he leads to execute what he says. How many times do we have to hear the same cliches to know that the coaches aren’t getting the players to execute.

This isn’t a player problem. This is a failure to be an effective leader/coach problem.

I agree with you.

Thats why if it was me and I'm McCarthy, you have to do something that shakes up the team. Firing Capers would do that.

The last 3 weeks the team has given up 111 points. Not all on defense, but still way to many points allowed by their opponents.
The defense absolutely didn't show up yesterday. First 4 possessions they allowed 4 TD's. You can't win games that way.

The Good: Pete Dougherty writes that both (Albino Ted) Thompson and McPuffy's jobs could be on the line soon, let's hope he's right! Could Belichick, Cowher, or Mike Tomlin win with this team? Damned straight they could!
The Bad: Murphy is too busy schmoozing the public, kissing political ass, and building hotels to notice or care, but we can hope the Board of Directors are watching.
The Uuuhh-gly: The Packers continue to get beat by guys that were on the market and Thompson ignored, even Eric Walden played his part last week. The week before it was Dwight Freeny and today Brian Arakpo, all too old for Albino Ted, and all are playing the role Peppers (seldom) plays here.

The Good: Zachary's article "Packers Prepare For a Familiar Foe" in which he wrote: Titans run well to the left end and GB is bad defending that area. Voila - Murray runs left for 80 on the first play (I'd say it was left tackle rather than left end, but that would be a quibble).

The Bad: GB run defense was a mirage. It looks really good against inferior offensive lines and 2nd or 3rd tier RBs, and bad against above average to good lines with a good RB. It has Daniels and a bunch of JAGs. GB needs Clark and/or Lowry to develop into red chips, or bring in talent.

The Ugly: The deception engendered by the rose-tinted glasses I've been wearing this season. In terms of talent, we could use a starting level #1 CB, starting level OLB, starter quality DE, #1 WR, #1 TE, #1 RB. That is a big shopping list, but we probably don't need everything on the list: if we get a #1 WR, we might get by without a dynamic TE.

Agree with the "ugly" TGR, with one (or maybe several) additions:

" In terms of talent, we could use a starting level #1 CB (Shields, Randall), starting level OLB (Matthews), starter quality DE, #1 WR (Nelson, Cobb), #1 TE (Cook), #1 RB (Lacy).

The point, of course, is that with the lone exception of DE, all of these positions have been hit hard by injury. I don't think full health will entirely solve the problem, but I can't deny that the injuries sure haven't helped, either.

I agree that injuries hurt most of those positions. We could re-sign some of those positions (i.e., re-sign Lacy, arguably Perry, maybe Cook if he shows something this season) but I think Shields will gone due to injury, Peppers will be gone due to age (and while we might get by next season with CM3, Perry, Jones, Elliott, and Fackrell, we'd be banking on some return-to-form and development of young guys. We might not need a true #1 WR, just a decent deep threat while we get by with Nelson and Jones as 2 good #2 WRs.

You're a sly dog, Marpag, agreeing with my own negative self-assessment! I am surprised your comment didn't get lots of up votes.

The run D was not a mirage. That run D is down way too many key players now to be good. That includes the CBs. Lost the starting middle LB immediately yesterday. That affects the run D and the passing D. Dom is a pressure guy. He does not have enough healthy horses to bring pressure much. Offenses are exploiting this. There is no solution without the players necessary to make it work. There is no magical scheme that turns third string into first string.

The solution: Fire Capers, which makes no sense. Did anyone see Wade Phillips' boys get gashed last week? Think it had something to do with some key players being out? NOPE: FIRE WADE.

PS: Gruden and Cowher are not ever going to coach again. That magic bullet is also sheer fantasy.

Suck it up, it's not a good season. MM may have lost the team to some extent. New HCs bring unpredictable upheaval, but it may be time. You can fire TT but it's not his fault that Cook hasn't been able to play and the squad he put together is now missing 40% of its starters.

And before last season gets used as a reason for anything besides pointing at MM, just don't. The changes he made to the coaching scheme were disastrous. The WRs were essentially uncoached, for one thing. Adams is a perfect symbol of that.

First time in my life, I didnt follow a score the entire game. I was at work and heard that the Packers game started and they were losing, this from a Colts fan who tried to give me hope citing the Packers Run D. Checked in around beginning of 4th Qtr and thought about watching on my break but decided it was a waste of data. Tracked game on CHTV to torture myself instead. This from someone who would watch every second of a game even in the 70s,80s. I think I had more hope then, then I do now. If they are behind I used to always believe they COULD come back. Not this year. Sad
