The Sunday Morning Packers Gameday Preview

Are you ready for some Green Bay Packers football?! Let Cheesehead TV be your one and only stop for all things Packers on gameday!

Good Morning Packer Nation!!! Welcome to The Sunday Morning Packers Gameday Preview!  This week the Green Bay Packers will be heading back home to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.  This mini bye week was productive for the Packers as many of their key players are on the mend.  All-Pro Left Tackle, David Bakhtiari seems to be trending in the right direction after consecutive days of full participation in practice, Aaron Jones had ten days to recover after his first game back, and Kevin King continues to get closer to suiting up and fortifying the back end of the Packers secondary.  The Packers roster seems to be on the mend and rounding into form for meaningful November and December football.

This week we are expecting 40 MPH winds and crummy weather at Lambeau.  Hopefully the Packers do not have a repeat performance of the debacle they had against the Vikings in this November matchup against the 1-7 Jags.  Will the Packers dominate a team that they should? Or will they let the Jags hang around and play down to their level?  I will have the answers to those questions and more in this week’s Sunday Morning Packers Gameday Preview.

In this week’s edition, I will talk about how I see this game playing out, I will ask three burning questions that will determine the outcome of today’s game, I will provide my insight on some sleeper daily and flex fantasy players I think you should use, as well as my picks, parlays, and game props for this week 10 matchup.  I am happy to have you with me here today for this game against the Jags; so just sit back, relax, and enjoy this morning’s Packers Gameday preview with your morning cup of Joe or drink of choice.

What to Expect Against the Jaguars in Week 10?

I know I got burned last time against the Vikings but it is hard to see the Packers laying another egg against a team with only 1 win who is starting their backup quarterback.  Let’s face it, the Jags have been a headline creating train wreck for the last couple of seasons and I expect a purge within the organization come Black Monday.  The Jags defense is playing up to par with a 1-7 defense as they are giving up an average of 418.12 yards and 3.5 touchdowns per game (NFL.com).  I honestly could see the Packers offense putting up 500 yards of total offense on Sunday.  I think they want to prove they can adapt to any situation and bring the energy no matter the opponent.  Translation; that’s bad news for the Jaguars.  I see Rodgers throwing for 300+ yards and 3 Touchdowns and Aaron Jones breaking out for a 100+ yard day with 2 tuddies. Packers Roll Out the Barrell at Lambeau!

Three Burning Questions That Will Determine the Outcome of This Afternoon’s Game:

  1. Will D Bakh’s return transform the Packers line, give Rodgers more time, and open up wider running lanes for Aaron Jones?
  2. Will Krys Barnes, Kamal Martin and Christian Kirksey be a good enough trio to contain the run game? (Season long question)
  3. Will the Packers come out and steam roll the Jags early?
  4. (Bonus Question) Will the secondary cover well enough without Jaire and (possibly) Kevin King?

Sunday Afternoon Fantasy Football Picks (Always Start the Plug and Play Guys)

  • Big Bob Tonyan (If active)/Marcedes Lewis- Big Bob shreds bad defenses, that’s all there is to it.  Think about it, defenses with limited weapons are going to have to allocate their best players to stopping Davante, Aaron Jones, and Lazard which means Big Bob and Marcedes Lewis are going to feast in the red zone.  I think Big Bob could find the endzone twice and the big dog is going to eat his former team this Sunday.
  • MVS- I think Aaron Rodgers realizes how good this offense can be with a confident MVS.  With this being said, I think Rodgers will look for MVS on multiple shot plays.  If MVS can connect on some big plays, the Packers offense could be very scary down the stretch.  Look for MVS to keep the good energy going; I like him for 5 receptions, 100 yards, and a touchdown.

Picks, Parlays, and Game Props

  • Viable Anytime TD Scorer Options: Davante Adams, Big Bob Tonyan, James Robinson, MVS, Marcedes Lewis, DJ Chark, and Aaron Jones.
  • Anytime TD Scorer Parlay: Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, Bob Tonyan, and James Robinson. (+1512)
  • Game Parlay: This is a bit risky, but I like the Packers (-13.5 and over 52.5 points) (+350)
  • $5 five team parlay: Bucs, Lions, Ravens, Browns, and Saints.
  • Two Touchdown Scorer: Robert Tonyan (+2100) (D.A and Aaron Jones would be your safe bets)
  • Game Pick: I think the Packers destroy the Jaguars despite the bad weather.  I do not think lightning strikes twice with the Packers laying back to back eggs at home.  Give me the Packers in a 38-17 blowout despite not being at full strength.

Packer fans, I want to hear from you!  Let me know your thoughts on this game against the Jaguars.  How do you see it playing out? Did you hit on any fantasy or game/parlay picks from the last few weeks?  What are your picks for this week?

I think it limits the score, have to take over, but lower scoring unless big runs. No deep shots today with that wind.

40 mile gusty winds and potentially rain don’t generally presage a high scoring aerial game. Not sure I expect a lot of deep passes in those conditions. Hard to get 50 points on the ground.

Yes there are questions about the ILBs, but for me it starts with who Pettine uses on the D line and how. Will he do so in a way that gets pressure on a rookie immobile QB with short area accuracy questions? That requires that the QB needs to pass so it starts with the run but then goes to getting him to throw it up for our D.

I don't think Bahk's return will be impactful - the Jags don't have a strong pass rush to fend off and the Packer O-line has played well without him. I will be most interested in Kirksey's return. I am sure he will be on a snap count, but I would like to see him play like a man who's pay check is in jeopardy (which it may be). He needs to justify his contract and why he should be retained next year.

Guess we'll have to wait until next week for Lazard.

Or longer. Core surgery is a difficult recovery.

Kevin King is getting closer to suiting up. I guess that is the best we can hope for in his case. Maybe next week he can put on his jersey, then his pants, shoes, helmet and eventually be fully suited up by playoff time.

This game should be decided by halftime.

Thinking/hoping Dillon gets the ball.

Predictions: We score over 30. Our defensive ranking improves from 17 to 14. Boyle gets snaps. Winn gets more snaps.

Comment: If the wind is at your back, it’s actually easier to throw as long as you rifle the ball instead of floating it. If the wind is in your face you better hope you can run or it’s going to be a quick three and out followed by a short punt. I think when we’re with the wind we’ll see some big pass plays.

I think Dillon is still on the COVID list and inactive today

I don’t think this wind is going to be one end to other and it’s really gusty at the moment.

Given the expected rain and windy conditions I would not expect the Packers to generate 500 yards of offense. Yes, I expect the Packers to win but I think the Packers OL and ground game to be our primary offensive approach today.

The Packers defense should benefit from the inexperience of the Jags QB playing in difficult weather conditions. I’m hoping for the defense to generate 2-3 turnovers to seal the win.

Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since ‘61
