Panthers 16 Packers 13 Game Balls & Lame Calls
Burn the tape, a couple of contracts, and the uniforms if you have to.
By Kalani Jones

I'm going to create a new stat. It'll be called "PDOL". Playing Down to Opponent's Level". The Packers will dominate it every season, and I'll make my million dollars. Win-win, right?
Those will be the only wins that we'll be seeing today. In front of their home crowd, and donning some (pretty sweet) new uniforms, the Packers proceeded to put up an absolute stinker. There's no other way to put it. The Packers are now 0-2 in games that they were 11+ favorites in, and this game really did seem eerily reminiscent of the loss in Cleveland. The offense was in tatters all game long, and could only watch as the opponent kicked the game winning field goal as time expired.
It seems to be a trend for the Green Bay Packers, this "playing at your opponents level" thing. Playing the Lions, Commanders and Steelers? Great, dominant wins. A middling team like the Cowboys? Tie. The Browns and Panthers? Devastating, horrible losses.
There's plenty to parse through with a loss like this, and performances all around must be examined with a microscope. Let's start with...
Game Balls
Pass Defense
It was at least a great day at the office for the Packers in preventing the Panthers from establishing any sort of momentum through the air. Bryce Young finished the game with only eleven completions, one interception, and a 48.3 QB rating. While Xavier McKinney had the team's lone sack on the day, the Packers pass rushers were constantly disruptive. Yes, the Panthers were down several offensive linemen at the start of this game, and lost more as it went on. All the team could do is play the players across from them, and the pass rushers did their part to completely shut down that part of the game. Xavier McKinney led the way on the back end, with one (almost two) interceptions, and played amazing coverage all game long.
Skill Players
On the offensive side of the ball, I thought that the skill position players also did their part to contribute to a win, when the chances were there. No drops, several clutch third down receptions, and one long haul by Christian Watson (who, by the way, after returning from injury., had his first five catches go for 136 yards).
Josh Jacobs contributed 87 yards on the ground. We can be (and are, believe me) upset about the run / pass ratio throughout the game, but Jacobs remains an effective weapon for the team.
Lame Calls
Everyone?
...
Run Defense
What we saw on Sunday qualifies as "inexcusable". As I mentioned, the Panthers were down offensive linemen, but were still able to absolutely dominate the line of scrimmage against a Packers defense that entered the league as the #3 run defense unit in the league. Give credit to the Panther's budding star running back Rico Dowdle for running all over the field, including the last nineteen yard scamper that sealed the game.
During the game, what I saw was a lot of Panthers' wide receivers and tight ends blocking well, which allowed their offensive linemen to double team effectively. Take a look at Dowdle's rushing chart, and it's pretty apparent where those yards came from: between the tackles. It's true that Colby Wooden exited the game early with an injury, and that certainly contributed to the Packers' woes in that area. Wooden has provided a lot of the run stopping juice throughout the season, and has mostly thrived in his expanded role that was created by the departure of Kenny Clark. Still, "next man up" did not work in the Packers' favor this week, as Wyatt, Brooks, and Stackhouse were pushed back at the point of attack all game long. Quay Walker had a tough game behind them as well, which created so many opportunities at the second level for the Panthers to exploit.
Slow starts
Over the last six games (since the Commanders game), here are the Packers' point totals at the end of the first half: 3, 13, 10, 6, 7, 6. After the first quarter? 0, 7, 0, 0, 7, 0. How about just the first offensive possession of the game? 0, 7, 0, 0, 0, 0.
Last season, and even going back to the back half of 2023, a huge feather in the cap of the Green Bay Packers was their ability to get ahead in games early. This was an aggressive team that wanted to punch you in the mouth, right away, and never let you get back onto your feet. So far in 2025, they have largely failed to do that. And this allows the opponent the opportunity to do exactly what the Panthers did today: limit possessions and (more importantly) dictate the tone. The Packers need to get back to that punch-first mentality.
Brandon McManus
It's time to well and truly have the conversation. So far this season, Brandon McManus is 9 for 13 on field goals, and has missed one extra point. He's 0-3 from the the 40-49 yard range, which in today's NFL should be made at a +90% rate. That range also includes today's missed field goal which ended up being the difference in the game. The kicking has been just bad with McManus in the lineup, and I really expect that the Packers will take a good, long look at playing Lucas Havrisik next Monday night.
Three and Out
-- Today's phrase of the game: "Absolute stinker". This team is just sloppy. Penalties are killer. Blocking is abysmal. Special teams are a net negative. Love mostly played well, but his negatives were apparent and costly. Then of course, there was the red zone production, which was a putrid one for five. Only one touchdown. In five chances. Matt LaFleur said it himself after the game: This team needs to charge headfirst into preparation for the Eagles, because whatever they did this week wasn't good enough.
-- While there will be a loss in the column today, it wasn't even the biggest loss of the day. While it's still too early to know for sure, (you might, by the time you are reading this article), the fear is that Tucker Kraft has indeed suffered a torn ACL, which would obviously keep the star tight end off the field until next season. This would be an absolutely devastating blow for the Packers' offense, in every facet of the game. He's been their most reliable target, a plus blocker for the run game, and a vocal leader both on and off the field. Kraft has played over 91% of plays for the team, over the last two years. If the news is true, I wonder if the Packers wind up making a move for another tight end before Tuesday's trade deadline.
Of course, that couldn't be the only bad news on injury front on such a horrific day for Green Bay. The team was decimated (a rare case of that word being used literally, as at least 1 out of every ten players on the active roster suffered an injury) by injuries on Sunday. Aaron Banks, Colby Wooden, Matthew Golden, and Kraft all left the game, while Christian Watson and Josh Jacobs left briefly. The team will have an extra day of rest before the Eagles game, and will need it too.
-- The Packers will stay at home for next weeks' matchup with the defending champion Philedelphia Eagles, and after losing to them twice last season, have an opportunity to get the ghosts of 2024 off their back for good. We'll see if the Packers can continue to play good teams well, especially at home. Besides the losses last year, there's the ever present storyline of the proposed tush push ban last offseason, and you can bet that Philly will be looking for any and every opportunity to shove one down the Packers' throat. The Eagles will be coming off of their bye week, hungry for a win, and the Packers will need to bring their A game. We'll see how the team can react to this week's dissapointing loss.

The only contract that needs to cease is that of LaFleur. After 6 1/2 seasons on the same carousel of symptoms, add in that teams have now largely figured out what is essentially a cautious offense in front of the line of scrimmage. Let his contract expire and with that Stenavich’s and Butkus’s (already a year past it’s sell by date at least).
Clean house and let Hafley compete. We need a new broom, culture and a new offensive identity. Too many excuses for too long on resulting in the same symptoms. LaFleur is a coach who holds rosters back, not one who makes them more than they should be.
Time to end Groundhog Day in Green Bay. His best is just not getting better or good enough. Risk change or waste this roster and then watch our window close. LaFleur never has been a play calling genius or even an average tactical mind or motivator. We’ve got a century of games worth of evidence that conclusively gives the lie to the myth of offensive genius.

About time that we fans start to figure out LaFloor; the guy is absolute idiot with tactics. In every game he calls stuff that your next door neighbor would never call. Third and one, calls another running play against a 9 man front. In the Steeler's game he called such awful stuff that the Pack failed 3 times in a row converting 3rd downs. It sucks the juice out of the team and it shows. He should be gone, just like Mike Sherman and Mike McCarthy.

I agree CW about the whole offensive genius myth.
His play calling may or may not be top notch but having his roster prepared and motivated to execute is abysmal.
Abysmal.
That's job #1A on for any head coach.
#2 is game management and real time awareness and adjustment.
ABYSMAL!

Yes, some calls were suspect, but that happens in every game in the NFL I guess his coaching had something to do with our D line getting pushed back 3 yds with the majority of runs with a few of their starters missing or the inability of our O line to consistently block well. No coach can overcome getting beat up in the trenches.
Razer
November 03, 2025 at 09:21 am
PeterK said it all with "no coach can overcome getting beat up in the trenches". Carolina ran for 163 yards yesterday and finished the game with dominating runs. On the flipside, the Packers O-line needs Josh Jacob's yards after contact to even reach average. This is not all on Lafleur as Gutekunst has done poorly on this front.

Enough is on LaFleur, both his offensive design and his coaching choices that it changes nothing regarding his culpability. He may drag down Gute by association, but he’s the central vortex.

PeteK - mlf assembles his staff.
This staff is abysmal.
Butkus as oline coach?
How many times does he have to see EJ snap the ball, look hard left while ignoring the most direct path to qb and not lose his shit on his center?
Once is unforgivable at nfl level.
Twice and the culprit damn well better be directed to the bench for some well deserved coaching!
As a hs guard, in late 70's, it was instilled in us to keep your head on a swivel, looking inside first.
HS.
Move steno back to line coach until we can find a professional offensive line coach with a proven pedigree.
Policy should spend top dollar on attracting and retaining the best staff.
Theres no salary cap for coaches.
We're not bankrolling an owner and their family's lavish lifestyles.
Invest profit where it is badly needed.
Poor coaching across the board is sinking this ship.

I think your missing whats leading to Mlf negative perception
or more than likely Mlf job loss now.
His coaching didn’t hinder the development or performance of Love.
IMO - Love doesn’t fit Mlf scheme and everyone knows it.
And we're seeing the poor results of that!!!!
Especially in the Browns and now panthers game.
IMO- Gute knows it.
And his moving Jenkins to center
had everything to do with it!
Gute wants a Air offense now.
And MLF wants a run first offense.
If MLF doesn’t give into Love now.
He’ll be out the door because of Love.
Mlf has lost control of Love.
The bombs and Doubs resurgence is obvious.
Point-
Bad quarterback play will make everything look bad,
including the coaching staff, and surrounding talent.
And that is exactly what we saw Sunday again.

3 blemishes on the record, all kicker induced. I'm no fan of LaFleur, but the fact remains.
two blocked kicks and an inexcusable miss - the difference between undefeated and where we are today.

"two blocked kicks and an inexcusable miss - the difference between undefeated and where we are today."
So, it's the missed kicks that are the problem. That's such a myopic way to look at those "blemishes". Did it ever occur to you that those games, all of which GB was heavily favored, never should have come down to one play?
Reducing games down to one play, and ignoring everything else that led up to that one play, is a very amateurish way to view football games.
mnbadger
November 03, 2025 at 01:05 pm
This goes along with idea that "mlf is a good coach because he's won a bunch of games."
How many times have you watched those games and thought it was won because of mlf?
How many more times have you said "we won in in spite of mlf and his staff?"
Last, how many losses does he need to take full credit for?
Lack of preparation, motivation, strategy, adjustments, leadership?

yes. the missed kicks are the problem. without the 3 kicking miscues the team is undefeated.

I'll see your "existential dread" and raise you "can't see the forest for the trees".
You keep focusing on that one play per game being the problem, while ignoring the larger issues that brought us to that play. I'd try debating the point with you, but it would just give me a headache.

The biggest lame call was MLF deciding to go for it at 4th and 8 late in the game. It was a short FG. He should have taken the 3 points and then be down by 4.
In the end if everything played out as it did regulation would have ended in a tie.

I'm not in the "fire MLF" crowd yet, but that 4th-and-8 has to be one of the dumbest play calls of his coaching career, if not the dumbest. Especially considering the windy conditions and our lack of red zone success in the game. There's usually some reasonable counterargument to justify a questionable call, but can anyone give me a good, logical reason for a 4th-and-8 call near your own end zone in this game?

The team the last few years has been a tease. Not an abject failure, but never being quite good enough to advance deep into the playoffs most years. And when they did, they'd suddenly become mistake prone underperformers.

"absolutely dominate the line of scrimmage against a Packers defense that entered the league as the #3 run defense unit in the league"
Is this a good sign for a team facing the Eagles next week? All the same, the Panthers only had the ball for 58 plays to the Packers 68 (I think I'm remembering snap count correctly). The Packers need to find the endzone on offense and that will kind of help.
How did Carolina beat a team that didn't punt the whole game? Has anyone heard of this happening before in the NFL? Turn overs by fumble, interception and downs helps keep our special teams off the field.

I’ve been saying this for years to a cascade of dislikes: if you like getting 9-10 wins (12 if the schedule is really favorable) and sneak into the playoffs only to get your ass handed to you in the playoffs, then LaFleur is your man. If you want to be a serious contender, you better look elsewhere. His basement is full of participation trophies.

There’s nothing wrong with your point if you can name multiple recent examples of coaches who consistently win and deliver championships. Even Belichick struggled and wasn’t highly sought after in the NFL once he lost Brady. The only one that comes to mind is Andy Reid, but even he has the best QB in the NFL. Without him, he doesn’t win all those championships, just like Belichick wouldn’t have.
So, if we fire MLF, who’s realistically going to do better? If you miss, you could end up much worse.

The Love INT yesterday was one of the worst.
I dont even want to call Love a great QB, because it would make packers look bad. That would be almost 20 years of great QB with 1 Superbowl appearance.
Quick Question to packers fan - would you rather go to the playoffs 10 out of 15 years and not go to any superbowl or
Go to playoffs 5 out of 15 years and winning two? Because thats the case with us and Eagles and yet look " Ouuuuu we got 3 generation talants in a row at the qb position" YAYY. We have been to the same Superbowl appearance since 93 with 3 generational talent to this same recent Eagles team...

How big of a "they" are we talking in the hangover crowd? I ask because Green Bay is a very small town and social media is a thing. I'd say there is a 0% chance any party took place at a player's home or in any club from Green Bay to Milwaukee.
While Doc Ellis did indeed throw a no-hitter while on LSD and Max McGee became a Super Bowl hero after a night of drinking in the company of two Swedish flight attendants, "they" (aka the Green Bay Packers) did not get drunk the night before sucking against the Carolina Panthers.

Yesterday's game was textbook LaFleur. His team was not emotionally ready to play; he was unable to adjust his gameplan in the face of a defense he didn't expect; and he made some bonehead decisions.
I've been fortunate to watch at some length three great coaches (Lombardi, Holmgren and Parcells (NYG)) and their teams. Very rarely were any of those teams not ready to play a game and they almost invariably took care of business against lesser teams. After seven years of watching LaFleur's teams it is obvious that the Packers play to the level of their opposition and are emotionally unready to compete in "meh" games. And that is directly attributable to the head coach and his coaching staff.
LaFleur tried to use the same lateral passing and deep bombs game that were so effective against the Steelers. Did he think the Panthers didn't see the game film from last week? The Panthers were ready for that plan and LaFleur had no answers. The few times the Packers tried mid-range passes they were successful, but LaFleur stubbornly stuck with his swing passes and bombs offensive plan and turned the ball over twice, was ineffective in the red zone, and lost the game.
The decision to go for it on fourth and eight rather than attempt a make-able field goal is inexcusable. You ALWAYS take the points. That has been a coaching maxim since the game was invented and yet LaFleur decided he had a better idea. This is not winning football.
LaFleur is a decent coach but I do not believe he will ever be a championship coach. I don't want Marty Schottenheimer, I want Lombardi or Holmgren.

Team leadership is important to a point, but I have never seen team leadership prevail in the face of inadequate coaching. The coaches set the tone for the team.
And I sincerely hope the team was not out celebrating Love's birthday the night before and that is the reason they weren't ready to play. Hungover might have been acceptable 50 years ago, but not with today's pay scales and responsibilities.

LaFleur gives out too many game balls and not enough criticism after a win. Lombardi was toughest on his players after a win. As a coach you need to keep the team on edge week after week.

Losses are tough, especially against weaker teams at home, but they’re inevitable in today’s parity-driven NFL—they happen to nearly every team.
It’s unfair to compare MLF to some of the greatest coaches, especially since they coached in entirely different eras with unique dynamics. These days, top players often hold as much, if not more, power than coaches, making the job far tougher than it was in Lombardi’s time. On top of that, there’s the added challenge of Free Agency.
In terms of wins and losses, how does MLF measure up to his peers? He’s among the best. Sure, a few coaches have better records or championships, but let’s be real—most coaches end up getting fired.
That said, I do have concerns about his questionable play-calling and team preparation at times. However, if I or other Packer fans held other teams—even good ones—to the same level of scrutiny we apply to the Packers, we’d likely find flaws with their coaches too.

Respectfully have to disagree Murf.
I will grant you that free agency and the salary cap have changed the game, but more for the GMs than the coaches I think.
Regarding player power, I really don't think that has changed all that much. I am old enough to remember Don Shula sending in a play and Johnny Unitas calling a time out and then inviting his coach to play quarterback if he thought he could call a better game than Unitas (this was back when QBs called their own plays). Aaron Rodgers probably had less power than Unitas since Unitas always called all his own plays. So did Bart Starr BTW. Players have always had a fair degree of power and I don't think it is any different today.
Yes LaFleur wins a lot of regular season games. So did Marty Schottenhiemer. So what? I want a coach that can win a championship and LaFluer just isn't growing enough as a coach to get the Packers there. Too many repetitive mistakes without improvement. Every coach has flaws but the great ones learn and grow and win championships.

I respect your opinion, but I still think coaching is a completely different challenge these days. For instance, Rodgers essentially demanded specific players be on the team, doing so with both the Packers and the Jets. Giannis operates in a similar way.
As for MLF, I do have concerns, but I’m not as disappointed as you seem to be. I believe his biggest issues are game management and play calling, and I’d like to see him hire someone to handle one or both of those areas. If he stays on his current path, I think there’s a chance the Packers might eventually make a change. We’ll see how stubborn he is. MLF definitely needs to be on alert now because there’s a new sheriff in town.

LaFleur was a young, first time HC when the Packers hired him and some mistakes and growing into the job were expected. However LaFleur is just not showing enough growth over the past 6.5 years. Good coaches learn from their mistakes and seek solutions. LaFleur seems to prefer "rinse and repeat". That will get him fired at some point.

I agree, but McManus's missing the FG in a defensive battle turned out to be crucial as most of us felt it would,1-5 from 40-49.

I had a colleague who was a huge Chiefs fan. He just could not tolerate Schottenheimer as their HC. He said "Marty will get you there then just break your heart."
LaFleur has been a Marty clone since he arrived. My concern is if he is losing the team. Yesterday when the O or D failed on 3rd or 4th down, the Panthers seemed to feast on the Packers the next few plays. Failure begat more failure and lack of effort. Toxic brew.
McCarthy lost the team and it was manifested vs the pathetic Cardinals at home in early December 2018. I kid you not, the loudest "fans" on the field were on the Cardinals sideline, cheering the play of their teammates on the field. Lambeau was eerily quiet. Nothing to cheer for.
Boos rained down on the Packers from the fans. I hate that...but understood the disgust with the lack of effort.
After the game, walking out with my brother in law, lamenting the awful display, I said "you know, with that kind of performance, I wonder if Murphy fires McCarthy tonight." A few hours later, he was.
Yesterday had some of the same malaise in the stadium from the team and the fans.

LaFleur looks to me like a Mike McDaniels type. Soft team with an offensive minded younger coach. I agree that LaFleur is way too soft to bring us another SB, let alone a dominating team.

Actually, the worst of it is that Carolina DID DO what MLF expected- he said so in the post-game presser. They knew what to expect and had no plan overcome it. That, is coaching, or lack there of. MLF must go, he will never take us to the mountain top.

This team is a team of questions and I think it is more about the coaching/composition. I don't know how a Panther O-line, with all there injuries can execute at such a high level and we struggle with the 5 or 6 starters to generate any consistency. The errors at center and guard persist and the coach continues to make them the focal point of the offense. We should be getting more out of this offensive talent for 4 quarters but it seems unlikely that it'll happen from week to week. Lafleur is in trouble not because he lost this game but because he is failing to recognize and correct the coaching of this team

There are no game balls to pass out, except for Watson/Jacobs and that's barely. The rest of the team including LaFluzy all get a deflated lame ball. LaFluzy completely bombed this game, not to mention the prep for this game. He shouted after the Steelers game, "VICTORY MONDAY!" What's he shouting today? LOSER MONDAY? WE SUCK MONDAY? WE GONNA GET CREAMED BY THE EAGLES ON NEXT MONDAY? WE ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT MONDAY? OUR UNIFORMS SUCKED AS BAD AS WE PLAYED MONDAY? That's why they lost! Those uniforms were putrid. They looked like someone crapped all over them. Hey, that's what the Panthers did. Please put them in the next bonfire. PackerNation is not having a good Monday today. Can't you tell?

I have to agree with many of the posters who feel it's too much "same old, same old". Errors that continue to repeat themselves week after week have to reflect as much on the coaches as the players. The tested definition of insanity is expecting different results by doing the same thing over and over. That's the Green Bay Packers. Coaches and players alike need to put themselves under the microscope.

Biggest blunder was MLF deciding to go for it at 4th and 8 from the 13 with more than 8 minutes left. Evan trailing by 7, taking the 3 points is a clear no brainer. 4th and 3 or less, ok, but 4th and 8? c'mon. MLF said it was a bad decision in the postgame. (so why did you choose it?) At least try to defend your decision with an explanation.
When trailing he panics and gets desperate instead of making the best strategic decision. I think ever since he kicked the FG on 4th and goal from the 8 in the the 2020 NFCC game, he has choosen to go for it. In the NFCC they were trailing by 8 points with under 5 minutes. Very different case.

That play was the game and as I said in an earlier post (snap counts) I thought it at the time it was happening. Didn't Detroit try one of those against the Packers? We stopped them and marched down the field for a TD. 14-point swing.
Shouldn't they always encourage a team playing against them to go for it on 4th and 8 which seemed to me at least 17 yards at the time the way they were playing?

He can't explain that he didn't trust his kicker because he or he and Gute just made the decision to bring him back early from injury in place of the guy who had looked good. That would be an admission. They could have held McManus out longer and use the other guy (whose name I won't try to spell), and keep options open.

I said before the season began that the OL will be the Achilles Heal that will undo this team. Overrated. Some bad draft evaluations coupled with bad line coaching and a very suspect run scheme and this is what they get. Can they right the ship? Yes, but that means they would have to George Costanza (“I will do the opposite “) the rest of the season.

I'm puzzled when Stenavich was coaching the O line with less talent, they were very consistent. He's still on the staff. Banks is starting to look like a bad signing and Morgan a bad draft that high. Noticed Nijman blocking well.

The only good thing about the game was that I was unable to watch it. MLF is unable to correct the continuing mistakes that are made by the team. No way no how should we have loss this game. What’s really scary is how dominant an offensive line could be with several back up players. The Eagles have to be to licking their chops and cannot wait for next week. I know injuries are part of the game, but suck it up and play the game, accept for Kraft blowing out his knee. Give me a break, a stinger, put a harness on it and play the game. I’m to old school when it comes to playing in pain. Yes, I did play with pain because I LOVED the competition and the game, sorry if this offends anybody.

We have a defensive line filled with first round draft choices...two of them in Parsons, Lucas Van Ness, Devonte Wyatt, and Rashan Gary. We may have drafted underachievers and/or we have coaches who are not doing the job to get them to play up to their number one draft status. With the injuries that the Panthers had on their offensive line, I expected the Packers defensive front to absolutely destroy that team. It appears that I wasn't alone on that one since "The Experts" listed the Packers as a 13 point favorite which was the largest spread yesterday. It's all disappointing and I'm tired of our head coach giving us the same old drivel time after time.

This is a classic example of why I don't follow the numbers freaks who drool over stats to determine outcomes. The only outcome that matters is the final score.
Love, Jacobs and others had decent statistical games but overall the offense was out of sync....again. But for me the interior of the defense was like a piece of Swiss cheese. One TV shot near the end of the game showed a wide gap between the Packers end and tackle. Normally this spot is filled with a linebacker. None was on the screen. The line opened a huge hole and no linebacker was around. resulting in a big, critical, negative gain. Just one play but that should never happen, especially at the pro level.
Here's what I think:
1) Other teams have figured out MLF's offense and Hafley's defense. This is what happened late in Mike McCarthy's time in Green Bay. I remember a commentator, a retired defensive back, telling viewers what play was coming because they had figured out MM offense when he was playing. The same issue might be happening with MLF. Hafley's genius defense is starting to show some real holes. Some are player related but teams seem to be onto the Packers attack. Rico Dowdle looked like the return of Jim Brown on offense. The Panthers makeshift line was opening huge holes for hiim.
2)It was clear Carolina's players wanted this game more.
3)After I watched the Bills and Chiefs I realized the Packers, no matter what they've done to improve the team, likely could not beat either team in a Super Bowl.

Packers (someone, please) need to bring in reinforcements for the Run game (Stenavich), the OL (Butkus) and MLF
***We know he won't fire these under-performers***
Last offseason I remember being very alarmed that MLF made zero attempts to hire better coaches nor an Offensive mind to help him with his many blind spots in play design/in-game adjustments. He could have formed a competent committee (if he didn't want to do it) to search colleges, winning teams, etc for those who could have augmented his very lackluster staff., Butkus, Stenavich, Bisaccia, Hackett, Getsy. I hate to say this, but I think he is very insular and does not seem to know what he doesn't know. He lacks curiosity.
Look at how they 'searched' for a QB coach-they had one outside interview and then decided on an unknown, unproven 2nd string QB who was already on the team. Love's remains inconsistent, feels it is OK to chuck up the ball, has poor footwork and the beat goes on.
MLF is very pedestrian and does not or cannot take advantage of winning formulas.

Makes perfect sense regarding practice. Mason Crosby said on his radio show there is a HUGE difference between Mike McCarthy's and MLF's practices. Mc had drills and sessions timed down to the second. He'd signal transitions by alternately cracking a bullwhip and blowing a conch shell. Guys knew what to expect.
LaFleur, apparently, doesn't ever have a plan for practice. He just makes it up as he goes along, and often will simply implement a drill because the Colts do it or he heard something about how Shanahan does something. Mason said there were even times when everyone would be ready to practice and MLF would hand out sandwiches and offer foot massages to anyone who wanted one. No wonder they lack focus.

Last week all the talk was how Jordan Love "arrived".
Where ever it was he "arrived" from, he went back there yesterday.
One would think after all his development time and now starting time there would be more good consistencies developing and solidifying in his play. Fewer errant passes into double and triple coverage, better long ball accuracy, fewer hospital balls, just all around better decision making. I thought we were starting to see it this season. Then again, nah. Yesterday it seemed like the read progression was - where's Doubs. Plenty of times us tube watchers seen open guys elsewhere. I get it, things are happening at such a rapid pace that it is easier to see after the fact from the bar stool or couch. But there were some obvious ones.
MLF is really taking his hits here so I'll give some grace and compliment him where I can. He sure knows how to work a beard trimmer. That he does.

I was listening to the Carolina broadcasters who where questioning why the Packers were running so much, taking time off the clock, when they got the ball on their 42 yard line with 2:20 left in the first half. They were very surprised the GB offense was not trying to save time and drive for a TD before halftime as 2 minutes from near midfield is a lot of time. This is a reflection of the Packers’ coach in the area of time management that he is weak at based on his “play to not lose” approach.

The Packers played as their uniforms looked...like crap. (those uniforms are UGLY)
And the LaFleur led Packers again played down to the competition. It was another FAFO game. The Lambeau Field home field advantage has vanished again.
The team energy on the field was similar to the Packers vs Cardinals Dec. 2018 game at Lambeau...all with the opposition. Even the Panther sideline reminded me of the December stinker that got McCarthy fired a few hours later. Panther players were all excited and encouraging...Packers sideline was quiet...seemingly just waiting for the Panthers to fold so they could get off the field.
It could be the Panthers are not terrible...but an NFC team talented enough to compete and win every game. They now have as many wins as the Packers.
It could be the 2-0 start was not the "domination" Packer fans expected. The Commanders are now walking down the NFC basement steps and the Lions have 3 rather eyebrow raising losses.
Enjoy at least one more week with the Packer atop the North.

Nobody of Defense. To paraphrase Pink Floyd: "How are you gonna get any candy if you don't eat your meat?" The meat was SUPPOSED to be a Panther offense that coulldn't pass, so all you had to do was stop the run. And how did that work out? They ran all over us AND
put on an efficient passing offense.
So, in the end almost everybody deserves a rock in their basket. Are we a Charlie Brown team?

MLF's presser doesn't strike me as a guy who really understands or cares that this team is underprepared and outcoached, inconsistent and making shornic mistakes game after game.. His whole comportment is summed up by a shrug of the shoulders and a petulant tone when answering questions, the implication that he is not to blame for any of the aforementioned gaffes, but also, a coach who doesn't feel any pressure to perform nor any consequences when the team he is responsible for doesn't. He is NOT an NFL Head Football Coach. As an OC, sure, great; he has proven time and again he hasn't lost the plot, he has never had it. This is the truth about the MLF tenure: he will win just enough games to keep everyone hoping that the next game will be different.
