Packers vs.Seahawks Game Predictions from CheeseheadTV.com

 GAME PREDICTIONS Week 14

Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks

Name Record   Pick Prediction
Adam 16-0 Green Bay Packers
Jersey Al 5-7 Seattle Seahawks 23-19
I'm pretty surprised by how many of the peeps below picked the Packers. There are valid reasons; Seahawks' road record, cold weather, Earl Thomas missing, Packers in desperation mode, etc,. but I'm just not feeling it. Perry out and Matthews hurting will give Russel Wilson more opportunities to break down the Packers' defense with his legs as well as boost their running game. The Seahawks are 5-1 in their last six games. As most coaches will tell you, it's not who you are playing, it's when you play them. This is bad timing for the Packers.
Andrew 6-6 Green Bay Packers 21-14
The Seattle Seahawks are not good on the road. That 2-3-1 record is no fluke—this team has issues away from Seattle.  While at home, the Seahawks average 28.6 points a game on offense and allow just 16.5 scored against them, on the road, they only score 15.3 a game and allow 15.8. Sure, it's a slim margin, but it's worth noting. The Seahawks also are wildly inconsistent on offense away from home. When they are bad, they are awful, scoring 3, 6 and 5 in two losses and their tie. In their two wins, they scored 31 and 27, but lost in a 25-20 game against the Chargers. There's no consistency, even though Russell Wilson is healthy and Jimmy Graham is productive.  The Packers need to pressure Wilson and they need to shut down Thomas Rawls, but there is a good chance the team who shows up in Green Bay this weekend will not be as good as they look on paper. I think the Packers find a way to win this one, and keep their playoff hopes alive.
Cory 7-5 Green Bay Packers 20-15
Looks like the white stuff will be falling once again for this renewed rivalry. A sloppy field will limit Russell Wilson's running opportunities and in turn help out the Packers' secondary. A steady short passing game diet wins this game for the Packers.
Jason 8-4 Green Bay Packers 20-17
I dialed up some help for this week's pick from Julianna Czech.  I asked her what Adam would have said about this game.  Adam told her the Packers would make a run and whether that was simply the two-game winning streak we just saw or if there is still some magic left in this season, I'm going with the good guys this week.  More snow expected on Sunday means a slower track which may help the Packers defense contain Russell Wilson and Jimmy Graham.  They'll need all the help they can get with a severely banged up linebacker corps but it's December at Lambeau Field so let's hope for a little early holiday magic.
Jayme 6-6 Green Bay Packers 28-21
I will have to miss this game due to a work event, so my gut tells me that the Seahawks will win. I've watched both teams play over the last couple of weeks, so my mind tells me that the Seahawks will win. But, I've gone with a Packers 28, opponent 21 prediction blindly the last two weeks and the Packers have won. So while I'm not convinced the playoffs are a no go if the Packers lose on Sunday, I'm going to stick with my trend and hope faith and superstition will help the Packers win.
Michelle 6-6 Green Bay Packers 21-20
At this point in the season, predicting any loss for the Packers essentially means they’re out of the playoff hunt, so we have to go with wins here on out. This game won’t be a blowout, and it might come down to the final minutes. But the Packers are playing for their lives, while the Seahawks have a comfortable lead in their division. Green Bay’s desperation has to fuel them through all four quarters.
Ross 7-5 Green Bay Packers 26-24
What's the point of being a fan this time of year if you're not gonna believe?  YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!
Zach 7-5 Seattle Seahawks 31-20
In what may be the most important game of the year for the Packers, they tumble short. Tough to see a team riddled with injuries overcome the Seahawks.
Mr. X 6-6 Green Bay Packers 17-12
Not a day for the offenses. The legion of Boom holds Rodgers in check but the inhospitable Green Bay weather keeps Russel Wilson and the Seahawks at bay. Packers win a defensive battle. Yes, I just said that.

Looks like several inches of the white stuff before and during the game. --- That really makes it difficult to project a winner. --- GB needs breaks to go their way in this one or it may not even be close. --- Seattle's run game may surpass 200 yards. -- The SeaHawks have more play makers than GB on both sides of the ball. Seattle 27 GB 13.

Just want to give a shout out to all the Packers fans I see cheering their butts off at Lambeau and especially on the road during this very hard time (and maybe worse after Sunday) for the Packers. Thank God the fans INCLUDING ME that often comment here are not in the stands rolling their eyes and sarcastically hissing every time something goes wrong.

Don't get me wrong I love the sincere insight fans post here except for the unmentionable promise breaking one. I know we can go round in circles on these topics of homers vs haters etc.

Speaking for myself...this year I have at times definitively called for McCarthy's firing and Ted's and even fallen prey to the thought of trading Rodgers. Yes I am guilty as charged! It took a lot of evidence on the field to get me to that point.

I have walked back from the edge in recent weeks and taken comfort in this: I am reassured that Rodgers is a baaaad ass man. We have him for a few more good years and I don't want to hear crap about player drop off. This isn't the 1940's. He will be just fine for 6 more years. He is amazing and it's easy to forget.

With Favre we endured two crap seasons when he was in his early 30's and we always seemed to forgive those INT's because he inspired such blind crazy hope in us. I think now we are the opposite; extremely cynical and hard to satisfy.

WIth Rodgers the Pack will be back whether it be this year or next.

At least that is how I am going to rest easy this Christmas.

What the hell is the point of this ramble? I guess I am saying to ALL OF US...sometimes it's OK to cheer for your team!!!!!!

God bless you each and every one that despite whether you hate Ted and or Mike or whatever...you generally think the organization wants to win and you want to win too and so do the players.

It's been really tough times since the NFC Championship game of 2015.

Keep calm and carry on and GO PACK GO!

"Thank God the fans INCLUDING ME that often comment here are not in the stands rolling their eyes and sarcastically hissing every time something goes wrong."

Interesting story related to this. I went to the Packers playoff game against the 49ers when it was -7 degrees. I had an aisle seat, and across the aisle from me was a guy who non-stop was complaining about everything. Everything sucked, especially McCarthy calling this play or that play, etc. I was there just trying to root my team on and enjoy the experience and he was seriously ruining it for me. Finally, I could take no more so I yelled across the aisle, "Dude, why the hell are you even here?" "I don't know," was the answer. So I said, "then why the f**k don't you just stay home and yell at the TV? You spent all this money and are sitting here in this weather just to be a miserable a-hole?" No answer. It stayed quiet until the end of the first quarter. We all stood up to stretch, I looked over, and he was gone. I guess he took my advice.

So yes, it happens at games also.

My heart says Packers, but my head says Seahawks win. I say that because both teams will have to deal with the weather, Clay is hurt, Perry is gone and during the time of year when we need a running game most, we don't have one. This is a preview of life without Eddie Lacy and it ain't pretty.

My fear is Seattle will do what we did to the Giants a few months ago: dare them to run and then drop everyone into coverage. Earl Thomas being out hurts, but their linebackers can cover, run stuff and go sideline to sideline. Jared Cook - time to earn your check.

Our only hope of winning is to do what Tampa Bay did 2 weeks ago: win the battle up front. Get after Russell Wilson, sack his ass. Peppers has been playing well and we'll need him more than ever. Fackrell, Jayrone Elliott, Dean Lowry. Etc. will have to step up.

I'm truly torn, but want to believe we can do it. So screw what my head says. This'll be a low scoring old fashioned slugfest. Packers 17, Seattle, 16.

My gut tells me that the Packers somehow find a way to win this. It'll be an ugly, low scoring game. My gut tells time each team will lose a fumble, but the Packers WRs will exploit DeSean Shead and absence of Earl Thomas. Packers 17, Seahawks 16.

Hate agreeing with you, but yep. Prior to Earl Thomas injury, I could not think of one GB defender who is better than his Seahawk equivalent. Not one. With Thomas hurt, HaHa is probably is better than Steven Terrell, but that won't change the calculus. Without a deep threat, Steven Terrell's presence really isn't that big of a deal. Plus the guy runs a 4.3. With Shields out, he is likely the fastest defensive starter on both teams, by a long shot.

Seahawks 27-13.

Start Thomas Rawls if he is on your fantasy team, cause oh boy, he is going to have one hell of a day.

While I mostly agree, it is a pointless comparison. Seattle's defense does not play our defense.

I suspect that our DL is better than Seattle's offensive line. I also suspect that even our depleted OLBs are better than Seattle's OL. Rawls is a nice enough RB who is hampered by his OL, but his average of 3.8 yds/carry isn't scary. Jimmy Graham is kinda scary given our issues with TEs and the middle of the field. I don't like the look of some other match-ups, such as Lockett, and Baldwin is an above average slot WR, another thing we've had trouble with this year and for several years now. Otherwise, given the snow, I don't see why Seattle should exceed its average of scoring 22 points per game.

I do have some problems seeing us score a bunch. I'd guess that turnovers decide this game.

Take away Rawls's performance last week against Carolina and his per-carry average on the season is much worse..on the order of 2.8 ypc. That offense is going to miss C.J. Prosise in a big way...he really diversifies them in a David Johnson kind of way (although I'm not saying he's the same caliber of player).

It's Jimmy Graham who really scares me in this offense. More than Baldwin or Lockett.

I hate the bovine... but he's not wrong here. The only part of the team comparisons that favor us is QB and OL. Maybe WR is a wash - but with Graham counted as a pass catcher, probably not.

The Packers home record in December games since 2008 with Aaron Rodgers as starting QB is 15 -2. Seattle may have the better record and the better team but I'm sticking with Rodgers and the Pack at home. The weather helps the Pack contain an inconsistent road offense for Seattle. Start fast, play with a lead, chew up the clock, force a turnover or two. I like the Pack 24 - 16. Thanks, Since '61

Looking at the weather projections, the snow should be mostly done by game time. I don't think weather will be quite the issue we expect it to be.

If we lose tommorow, and then have no chance at 10-6, I say play all the bench players the rest of the way. If we end up at 6-10, so be it. We are going to need every pick we can get this draft, why not have higher picks each round.

Never thought I would be ok with a losing season but I also never thought we would have a QB like Rodgers either.

These types of games are usually won in the trenches. Which OL and DL play better.
Right now there isn't a pair of OTs playing better then GBs. And the interior OL has been very good as well. In this game the Packers OL is far and away better then Seattle's.

If the Packers OL gives Rodgers time, I think they win.

If snow is in the forecast then I hope it falls twice as hard as it did last week, anything to slow down Wilson and Rawls. With the health of our OLB position I think this could be a really, really, long day for the Packers. With Perry out now both edges will be vulnerable . Christ our best hope at OLB is Matthews being able to play with one arm. Maybe elliot plays like last year against Seattle in week 2 but what about the other side? Might have to consider calling in Mike Neal..... Really!!

My head and gut say it's a Seattle victory. My spleen and left leg say the Pack will win. Kidneys and right forearm are actually predicting a tie. My uvula thinks it will be postponed like the Hall Of Fame game.

The small of my back loves TT and MM, but my meniscuses (all of them) want them fired. My intestines are cautiously optimistic that Starks still has some juice while my biceps don't think he should see the field again. My hamstrings are just pissed off in solidarity with the team. I'm so conflicted.

Pack rolls 31-12.

I hate pete caroll as much as i hate the cowboys, but you have to admit it is plain fun to watch the Seattle D. the best football game played in the league this year was the 6-6 tie with the cardinals, and the reaction of the hoi polloi, the fantasy football driven league? boring football. how do we beat Kam, Cliff, Sherman, Wagner etc? and remember the worse game since fourth and 26??? a game we have never recovered from, and perhaps never will. a total moral collapse. but maybe a miracle will happen, our non existent D will arise to the occasion. one can hope, but hope is kind of irrational, it is the emotion that makes people overestimate the odds in their favor.

Well, let's see if we can't find some reason to take GB on Sunday? This will take some doing. We won the last 2 weeks on GB, so that makes it a little easier.

This game opened GB +2 1/2. I thought they made a mistake. It should have opened GB +21& 1/2. The game at this point has gone to GB +3. You would think this game should be GB +6 or +7, even if they are at home with Bad Weather looming. 9 out of 10 times this line GB +2 1/2, GB +3 is an Automatic Loss, except when you run up against a team like NE, or in this case maybe Seattle, WHEN THE MONEY is on the other side.

I've been watching this line all week, to see if it would move. To this point it's moved 1/2 a point. If it stays where it is, it tells me 2 things.

#1 Anyone in his Right Mind, with a $100 in his pocket to bet, will put it on Seattle. Unfortunately,GB is 1 team that get's a Ton of money bet on them each week.

#2 Vegas wants everyone looking to bet a $100 on this game, to bet it on Seattle. My thinking could be wrong, but I believe Vegas has the money on this game going to the side they want it to, or this line would have moved up, & that would put more money on GB. The higher the line goes, the more money get's bet on GB. It looks to me like Vegas wants the majority of money on Seattle. I could very well be wrong. I don't have a great record betting the GB game.

As I said last week, "You have to bet every game the same" I won the last 2 weeks, making an educated guess, that the money was the other way. Unless the line moves between now & tomorrow, I got to believe the money is on Seattle in this game.

I would never bet GB +3, unless the game looked Lop Sided. I don't think this game is that Lop Sided, with GB being at home, & the weather, but it still looks one sided enough for me to take a Flyer on GB this week.

If the game goes to GB +4 1/2 or 5 or 6 tomorrow, Forget It, I won't touch it.

If it stays where it's at, GB+3, I'll Buy The Hook, & PICK GB TO COVER +3 1/2. Hopefully they can pull out a Win.

Looking for Anything in this game that bodes well for GB, this is a SB of sorts for GB. I'm sure they realize it, & play like it. I'll only need GB to cover 3 1/2, but I'll pick GB to Win this one!! Nothing surprises me anymore. It wouldn't surprise me if they won big, but I don't expect that. I hope I'm seeing this game with my head, & not my heart. Go Pack!!

I only think in terms of how the betting goes. While I could very well be correct on the money, you can't determine where the Big Money is bet. It could be on the 1st half, which at this point is Seattle-2. That's actually a better bet for Seattle. If that's the case, that's throws off the Final Score Pt. Spread. The 2ond Money could be on the Over/Under. It's really only an Educated Guess. Las Vegas doesn't build these Hotels on Winners.

I agree with you 100%, that's why I'm taking a shot on GB. As I've said, it's only a guess. It's by No Means a sure thing. I have Tenn today, but I also played Buffalo, for the same reason. They could all go in the Tank, but over the long haul these games hit about 70% of the time. Like I said, If you bet, you have to bet the same way each team, & each game. It's hard to see the Packer game. Like you, I want them to win. That clouds my thinking. No question, I'm going against the grain here. That's what I want to do.

So with all this talk about Seattle having better personnel and the Packers needing help from the weather to have a legitimate chance to win, what happens if weather ISN'T a factor (the snow should be mostly done by game time) and the Packers win by 10+ points?
