Packers Vs. Seahawks: First Impressions

My immediate thoughts on the Packers - Seahawks game.

...

Well, thanks to FOX switching from completed Eagles-Redskins game to end of Cardinals-Dolphins, I missed the Davante Adams TD and more (first six minutes of the game).. Thanks NFL & FOX!

Rodgers with a serious limp when he comes off the field. Must have tweaked the hammy during those forst six minutes I missed. Did he?

Wait - a penalty can be "disregarded?"

Montgomery scores a rushing TD, but since he's technically still listed as a WR, a Packers halfback has still not scored a rushing TD this season.

Have to say I really like how McCarthy is mixing things up this game. Keeping Seahawks (and me) guessing.

Seahawks getting ZERO pressure on Rodgers.

At 21-3, I'm saying, "There must not be an OUNCE of letup by the Packers' offense today. Hear that Mike?"

Not even including his sack, Dean Lowry played a hell of a game. Guy is relentless and doesn't seem to know he was a rookie fourth round draft pick.

The dislike between these two teams was evident on every play and even more so after the play.

Normally, I'd be thrilled when the opposing QB has four interceptions. For some "unknown" reason, I wasn't  feeling it...

Evidently, everyone knows the "must maintain possession after going to the the ground" rule but Mike McCarthy.

If the Packers were a dirty team, there would have been several all-out rumbles today.

Datone Jones is always on the cusp of a penalty; late hit, roughing the passer, personal foul, etc.

Cleverly designed pass rush from Ringo. Running start from the sideline...  What? You say that wasn't planned?

Rodgers on one good leg (or no good legs) is better than your quarterback. Nice to be able to talk about him like that again.

Montgomery is all-out and fearless. Love that dude.

Fifth interception? All right now it feels good. Real good.

Why was Matthews out there with a few minutes left in the game? Why Mike?

I have been absolutely clueless this year on predicting what this team will do from game to game. I just have no idea.

Legion of Boom went POOF!

If Adams keeps it up I'm gonna owe him a big apology (if I don't already), he seems to have gotten over his drops and lack of separation that pissed me off so much last season.

That was the most complete performance by this team in the last 2 seasons. McCarthy called an excellent game, the WHOLE game. Hats off to the entire team and coaching staff, that shocked the heck out of me!

NICE!!!!

Edit.... There's NO doubt now, Jordy Nelson is the NFL Comeback Player of The Year!

Completely agree about Jordy as come back player of the year.

For the record that play that was reviewed on Jordy, I thought should have been a catch, after I saw the replay. When I saw it live I didn't think it would be a catch. IMO he came down with the catch and wasn't going to the ground until the DB hit him.

It's a shame that catches are the hardest thing to figure out.

I understand the rule of going to the ground. It's a good rule in all honesty. The problem is like this play Nelson wasn't going to the ground until the DB hit him.

To cause a fumble, the ball carrier has to have possession.

The ruling was that possession was never established- he did not complete the process of catching the ball. a WR must maintain control of the ball through the process of hitting the ground in order for it to be a catch.

Montgomery IS a legit running back. He ran the ball between the tackles and made some running back yards while doing running back stuff. Let's just say it, the guy can play RB, and move forward.

Waiting to hear about how Devante Adams sucks again from a certain somebody.

Wow, the D really stepped it up today. Constant harassment of Wilson and the DBs capitalized on every opportunity

Had no idea the game was going to go like this. What a pleasant surprise.

Let me be the first to thank the Seahawks for the practice this evening. This game plus the last two victories have made it clear to me that this team must play with a lead. Packer offense and defense were dominant today. We won the LOS on both sides of the ball. Injuries to Rodgers and Cook are a concern. Good to see Monty as an integral part of the offense. Lowry should have had more snaps all season. Best and most complete game of the season by far. We kicked the Seachickens butts in every phase of the game. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

I could sense this coming. Not a blowout, but a strong game from the Pack. It's never a guarantee, but if you paid attention the past few weeks, you could see something tangibly different than the first 10 games. I expect more of the same to come. Will it translate to blowout wins? Still hard to tell with all the injuries still nagging us, but the attitude and execution certainly is on a serious uptick. I definitely believe we can run the table. We need a tiny bit of help from the G-Men or Cowboys but the rest I think we can handle.

What a game!!!

That was impressive. Not only to beat the Seahawks but to just kick their asses! And to do so with our QB playing with 2 bad legs.

2 players offensively give so much to the team. Montgomery and Adams. Their emergence this season is what has the offense playing so good.

Anyone that says Montgomery isn't a RB at this point is in denial. I really like the 1-2 punch of Montgomery and Michael. But what a difference Montgomery is making for the offense.

The defense was truly impressive today.

The Seahawks are my most hated team right now. They are the dirtiest team. Can't stand them.
Couldn't have blown out a better team!

Honestly the biggest difference in our defense the last few games is we are playing with starting CBs now. Playing without Randall and Rollins really hurt the defense.

I think as the defense is getting healthier and we are starting to see it.

I agree on Michael and Montgomery. One can see the talent Michael has: he is quick (I agree with Wayne and Max that he gets to the line almost too quickly as he didn't give the OL time to open the hole), and he has some power and wriggle.

Montgomery has shown that he can be a RB for us. I did not know whether he had vision, but he does. He also showed some power on the TD run, and the ability to get skinny through the hole, along with good open field running.

Jeff Janis always does well running out of the backfield with the ball. With his speed and bigger body than Cobb and Montgomery he could make a career as a running-back rather than a wide receiver.

I'm a "Never too high, never too low" guy by nature, and maybe this kind of game highlights that. Yes, it was a very good game and a great win, but there's an awful lot of chest thumpin' going on around here.

Yes, ARod's performance was great, but that injury situation is pretty concerning. Yes, the defense kept points off the board and looked pretty darn good, but Seattle was running pretty effectively when the game was still in question, and Seattle actually outgained them. And SEA is not a high scoring team anyway. Yes, GB nabbed six (?) turnovers, but you gotta admit that a minimum of two of them were flat-out give-aways, not take-aways. We certainly can't expect teams to be as generous on a regular basis. Yes, our chances in the NFCN look decent, but GB still needs to play a tough rivalry game vs. MINN, and it's likely that the game vs DET will be 'win and you're in' for both teams. And even if they make the tournament... well, with all the injuries and such it will still be an uphill climb.

But yeah.... nice win. Dang nice win. Now we need another one.

And as for the two or three nameless ones who posted their usual annoying pre-game trash, we all know that they're trolls, right?

You say you are done with the "f....ing" Packers and are done with the team and Cheese head TV and then come back a WEEK later. You are the worst sort of troll out there; just enjoying spreading your sick, sad, outlook on the world. I truly wish you can change, but (sadly) I suspect that won't happen. Your comments here typically just infect a great fan site. You add NOTHING to this site except for a load of cow pies. I don't know what kind of sick thrill you get out of being a total a**hole here, but I am sorry that I've actually felt the need to call you out, as I suspect that makes you all "warm and fuzzy" inside. For your own sake, get some therapy, your outlook is not healthy. I try to find a positive about most people, but you just don't exhibit anything positive I can find with your comments. I actually feel bad that I feel the need to comment on you, so I guess "you win" as you've made me feel the need to address your comments. Happy now?

This was the best game i've seen the Packers play in years. D was outstanding. O was very good. Wilson lives off his athletic ability alone. And the legion of boom is simply not that good without Earl Thomas. They have one injury in the backfield and can't cover a grandma on a walker. The Packers play all season with multiple injuries and get 5 ints... and the Packers WRs are way better than what Seattle is trotting out there. Not saying the Packers are that good but not a single one of seattles WRs would start anywhere in the NFL other than Seattle. Not even Cleveland...
Oh and P.S.: I really dislike the Seattle cheap shot artists and their frickin a-hole coach who is constantly complaining at refs. Hate him even more than Harbaugh, and that truly is hard...

Wow. Wow. Wow. It was a dream start with the bomb towards Adams. I heard it on the radio as I drove over to my Dad's to watch the game with him. Big plays like that are what we've been starved for. It harkens back to 2014 and the good old days when our WRs torched opponents. Adams has really come into his own about getting separation. He presents a real match-up problem. Who do you cover? Nelson? Adams? Cobb? Cook?

It felt like everything we were excited about in August finally showed up on the field tonight. Why we had to wait until December may have been due to a combination of injuries, poor coaching, poor playing and poor utilization of players (i.e. Montgomery), but nevertheless, this team is getting hot at the right time.

My only concern is Rodgers' health. We go as far as he'll take us. The offensive line played out of their minds tonight. They made Seattle look ordinary. If TJ Lang does not get re-signed, then Ted Thompson is crazy. Lang dominated in the trenches, as did the other guys. Bring on the Bears, Vikings and Lions. The Packers just put the rest of the division and NFL on notice.

'Adams has really come into his own about getting separation. He presents a real match-up problem. Who do you cover? Nelson? Adams? Cobb? Cook?'

And to top it off you have Montgomery coming out of the backfield.

Oh and the OL has been giving Rodgers a lot of time.

Excellent point. We found a running game tonight. I failed to give the defense its credit. That's what truly shocked me tonight. Now I know Seattle has struggled offensively on the road, but I'm glad the Packers have invested drafts in offensive and defensive linemen. This game is won and lost in the trenches and we dominated both of those tonight.

Absolutely the game was won in the trenches. The OL has played great for the Packers. And the DL has really stepped up.

How about Dean Lowry having 2 sacks in 2 games.

"He presents a real match-up problem. Who do you cover? Nelson? Adams? Cobb? Cook?"

That's exactly why I was looking forward to seeing the Hawks' coverage when Cook was in the slot and Ty was in the backfield. You can only cover so much with so many people and without their best DB (and arguably the league's best) portions of the field were exploited.

Remember folks complaining about Rodgers going deep on 3rd & short? I told everyone to get used to it when Cook gets back and Ty is in the backfield. Sooooo many openings. It's no coincidence that these last few games Rodgers has looked like the old Rodgers and his longest passes are greater than the first half of the season.

This also was the same O-Line that COW outrageously claimed as being overrated. Yeah, the same O-line that helped Rodgers win two MVPs by giving him time to find the open guy. The same O-line tonight that only allowed one sack, which basically was a coverage sack.

I said I would be back for December football. The vitriol was too much to take early season. Fans get a little emotionally charged one way or the other and it's forgivable. I just couldn't read it anymore. This is a TT and MM team. The pattern is always get our young guys up to speed through the season, sometimes take our lumps with injuries, and make a run. It just sucks that injuries took so much out of this team that we have to rely on help to get in. Not one team wants to play this Packer team right now. Let's just get in!!!

watching Michael hit the LOS with an absolute crazy burst is awesome to watch. Something I haven't seen in an RB in GB since, well, never

Nice job, Fox, on the TV coverage of "America's Game Of The Week." we lost a full 6 minutes of the Packer game because you had to show "Bonus Coverage" of the AZ-Miami game. What a joke!

Said they'd win by a point. Well even I expected more snow. But what a great game called by MM. The speed of the WRs and the plays called. Absolutely fantastic. Adams down the left sideline, then cook, then Adams. That was fun to watch. Nice YAC! Still the problem of A-rod trying to go long to Adams on the 3rd down though. But Jordy Nelson and Cobb just are so dependable. Monty great game. Loved the defense. Can't give all the credit to the officials. Team Victory! Football is fun again in Green Bay.

The best part was probably when Devante Adams caught a bomb from Rodgers that flew 29 yards in the air down the right sideline, and he caught it with his right hand and ran it another 35 yards for a touchdown. That was pretty sweet.

LOL.

There's no sense in trying to argue with the feeble-minded, Oppy.

Seattle looked terrible today against GB. The NYG put pressure on Dak tonight and his passing was way off. Despite an inept offense performance themselves, NY managed to win.

Point being everyone's two front runners for the SB, both Seattle and Dallas looked eminently beatable.

Get healthy, get in and any number of teams can win the NFC.

Can somebody PLEASE tell me what I saw yesterday, because I'm still in a state of shock? How can a team that looked that good, play like absolute crap against TN and IN?
