Packers Select Kylin Hill, RB in 2021 NFL Draft - Round 7
With the 256th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select Kylin Hill from Mississippi State to bolster the running back crew.
MEASURABLES/PRO DAY:
CAREER NOTES:
Kylin Hill's 2021 NFL Draft stock is an interesting case study. The Columbus native is two seasons removed from leading the SEC in regular season rushing. His 1,350 yards were more than LSU's Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the top back off the board in last year's draft, and Alabama's Najee Harris, who was the first back off the board in this week's draft. . -- by Tyler Horka.
SCOUTING REPORTS:
Hill starred for the Bulldogs in 2019, earning second-team all-conference honors with 1,350 yards rushing and 10 scores on 242 carries (5.6 per) in 13 starts (also 18 receptions for 180 yards and one TD). He opted out after three starts (15 carries, 58 yards, 3.9 yards per carry; 23 receptions, 237 yards, 10.3 average, one TD) in 2020. Hill also made headlines for threatening to cut ties with the school if the state of Mississippi did not change its flag to remove the Confederate battle emblem (the state eventually voted to re-design the flag). He accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl.. - NFL.com
Hill is a maturely built rusher that can have a lasting impact as both a rusher and pass-catcher out of the backfield. His body structure comes into play on runs as he has well above-average contact balance. His ability to withstand would-be tacklers is one of the bigger assets to his game overall. Hill doesn’t contain many different speed levels, as he hardly ever will be a running back that produces explosive plays in bunches. - The Draft Network
FIT WITH THE PACKERS:
I really love this pick by the Packers. Obviously, the third-to-last pick in the draft isn't going to move the needle, but this pick is brimming with athletcism. And if you can get athleticism this late, that's fantastic. He may not get a lot of carries, but look for Hill to make an impact on offense with his speed and versatility. This is a very soldi pick to mine this kind of talent in the seventh round. When I watch his highlights, dare I say he reminds me of Tyreek Hill?

He can block! Is a one cut back and hits hard while having good hands. Off my radar but I can see why they like him here.

Has some twitch, good hands and is quick. Brings it , hurdling, diving, etc. I'm pretty sure he is an eager blocker, but we will have to see how he is in pass pro. He is behind 2 players, so we may have to wait a bit.

Packers need to sign Snowden,Moses, and Marvin Wilson. I understand about the knees. But Gutes picks aren't going to help anytime soon anyway.

Jags signed Moses and he was immediately moved to an injured list and isn’t expected to be available for some time as they want him to rehab his knee more. Also had a separate surgery in 2017. Maybe is damaged goods.

You obviously don’t know anything about these players. Nothing.
As for Hill, WELCOME TO GREEN BAY!
For those who didn’t know, Hill was regarded as the premiere RB in the SEC ahead of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the 1st RB taken in the 2019 draft.

Hmmm 4.57 forty? Not saying he doesn’t have good skills but who is he going to run away from in the pros?, beside the DL.

Amari Rodgers only runs a 4.51 seconds in the 40-yard.
Robert Tonyan runs a 4.58 seconds in the 40-yard.
Eddie Lacy ran a 4.64 seconds in the 40-yard.

Wow really?
Did you know that Aaron Jones only ran a 4.5?
AJ Dillon ran a 4.53.
Yes Jones is probably more quick than fast but we have seen him outrun plenty of guys in the NFL.
This guy looks like hes shot out of a cannon when he gets moving, watching him leap over guys who try to tackle him low is fun stuff. If he can pass block, that will be the key to him seeing the field, maybe earlier than Dillon did.
All it takes is one injury and hes getting sone snaps to show what he can do.

At least the Packers will have the first pick in the draft next year if Jordan ima bust Love is QB.

Oh goody. A new reason to consider this website’s comment section a dumpster fire.
