Packers Practice Round-Up. Day 11. August 29, 2020

GENERAL/PERSONNEL:

Not seen/out: Eq. St. Brown, R. Greene, Ento, Sunderland, Ramsey, Lewis, M. Adams, Hester PUP Bolton, Roberts NFI Taylor, Stepaniak. Owczarski

LB Oren Burks is on the sideline and not participating. He was here for the start. Must have dropped out. Silverstein [Lots of competition at ILB, though IDK how warm his roster spot is.]

It’s snails pace walkthroughs right now.... Herman

Very, very sloppy practice today. Fumbles, players lining up incorrectly, turnovers. Silverstein

More miscommunication with the offense. Looked like Sternberger lined up in the wrong spot. Coaching staff not too happy with the offense right now. Herman

The Packers clearly scouted Canada quite a bit - and now they may have professionals available they didn't anticipate, and Brian Gutekunst fully expects to see CFL players working out/trying out for not just his team, but around the league. Owczarski [GB brought in 6 players for workouts yesterday - I didn't think to check to see if any were from the CFL.]

QUARTERBACKS/WIDE RECEIVERS:

Love throws a fantastic pass to Shep deep down the seam but Shep drops the deep ball. 2. Love then with back to back completions. Nice series for him! 3. Jordan Love just overthrew a pass on a rollout in drill work. Matt LaFleur noticed a flaw in the technique and took the next couple minutes to walk him through it. Constantly looking for opportunities to coach. LaFleurs QB coaching days coming in very handy. Herman

Another good ball from Love to Taylor on the out. Good timing and placement. Spofford

QB Jordan Love had a good last series. With Keke in his face he unloaded a laser that went just off Shepard’s fingertips deep. Hit Ervin and Taylor for nice gains with pressure in his face on next two plays. Silverstein. [Same has Andy Herman's tweets one and two, but a little different take and more description of the next play.]

Lazard hauled in a leaping catch between 2 defenders in what looked like a free play. Truly beautiful play by Lazard. Herman

Great catch from Allen Lazard, leaping above safety Will Redmond on third down to high point Aaron Rodgers’ pass. Jaire Alexander also in the area. Wood [Same as above, more descriptive.]

MVS diving catch from 12 (on an out route according to Spofford). 2. Quick slant from Rodgers to MVS - perfectly executed off p/a. MVS is definitely gaining confidence by the day. 3. And as tweeting Boyle and MVS are off on the next play. Either underthrown by Tim or the route was run slightly too deep by MVS. Herman

Now another delay of game by Boyle. Tough start from him today. 2. Delay of game on the offense with Boyle at qb. Was trying to make a check. Ran out of time. 3. Fumble on the exchange btw Boyle/Dillon. Herman

Ball on the ground back to back plays: AJ Dillon dropped it on a toss play and Tim Boyle fumbled a snap. Demovsky [Different viewpoints or vantage points - Demovsky puts the blame for the fumble solely on Dillon.

Boyle fires to Kumerow on the slant. His best play today so far. Spofford [Think he means Boyle.]

TIGHT ENDS:

Rodgers finds Sternberger in a hole in the zone, nice block by Deguara. Herman

Don’t see position coaches call timeout in the middle of team reps often. That’s exactly what Justin Outten did before a third-down rep. Outten trotted onto the field to make sure Jace Sternberger was lined up in the right spot. Gives you an idea of how today went. Wood

RUNNING BACKS:

Jamaal Williams & Kevin King just played a little game in the open field after the run was over but Williams broke his ankles with a clean juke. A little bit of fun between vets. Herman

RB A.J. Dillon fumbled a pitch from Tim Boyle. Haven’t seen much issue with Dillon’s hands in camp, though he did drop a pass on a wide open crossing route inside Lambeau Field on Tuesday. Wood

Nice run by Tyler Ervin to the outside with really good blocking. Oren Burks did a nice job disengaging. Herman [Hmm. in offensive line category instead?]

Aaron Rodgers is not happy with Tyler Ervin after a play during team. Schneidman [Forced AR to throw deep to Adams and get intercepted. No idea if this is about blitz pick up or a wrong route, etc.]

Dillon bursts through a hole right up the gut, then Love goes play action and hits D Williams on the run in the flat. That’s all for 11-on-11 for now. Spofford

Jones finds the tightest of creases on run two, something he specializes at. His vision is 100. Herman

OFFENSIVE LINE:

T Yosh Nijman getting his first team snaps since coming off PUP. Silverstein [I think Nijman did just individual work yesterday.]

Nice run to open up team for Aaron Jones. Bakhtiari & Jenkins combined to open the crease. Herman [Lots of reason to think running left will be very good this year.]

DEFENSIVE LINE:

Keke explodes through for a pressure. Herman

LINEBACKERS:

Krys Barnes with a nice tfl. He’s quietly had a pretty nice camp. Herman [I had to look him up to make sure to place this in the right category.]

Gary shoots through the line for a pressure. He is absolutely stacking success. Herman

Boyle “sacked” by Tim Williams. Good pressure from Garvin, too. Herman [Love to know who gave up these multiple pressures.]

Nice run stop by Tipa. Set the edge very well. Herman

DEFENSIVE BACKS:

Vernon Scott with tight coverage on Evan Bayliss. Minimal gain. Herman

I think Preston Smith just “sacked” 12 twice on that play. Nice rush from Preston but nowhere 12 to throw the ball. Herman [Sounds like a cover sack so put here.]

INT by Sullivan off 12. Jump ball to Adams. (Spofford thought there was miscommunication btw AR and Adams.) 2. Chandon Sullivan with a little pop as he filled the hole. He has been absolutely fantastic in run defense in camp so far. A truly underappreciated aspect of his game. Herman

Stanford Samuels just blanketed Shep in coverage. Nice job by the rook. Herman [Streak continues.]

SPECIAL TEAMS:

Nada.

Per Ryan Wood, Matt LaFleur says majority of tomorrow's practice inside Lambeau Field will be game-like atmosphere, including pregame warmups, officials for first time, lots of unscripted team reps: "Hopefully we can get into situational ball that happens naturally during the course of a game."

I chose to use a photo of MVS. Not a lot of competition for the "honor" such as it is for this practice. A number of players got a single approving tweet. Others got some love but also some demerits in other tweets.

It was a sloppy offense on the field today. Tomorrow should be the most revealing practice of the season when the team scrimmages against itself, not using scripted plays, with referees. Stay tuned.

I didn't like the selection of Love. But Aaron Nagler's tweet (link below) reminds me of how AR looked in his rookie year.

Perhaps the sloppy practice was due to outside distractions. MLF has his work cut out for him getting the team back to concentrating on their jobs.

Very, very sloppy practice today. Fumbles, players lining up incorrectly, turnovers.-- Silverstein // This is concerning! Have their brains just snapped? If their Unconcerned with competition. It's not the straight and True Blue Packers. No Priest is going to Help them. And it's time LeFluer gets pissed. The field is for football, not Politics. Solidarity is one thing. But Personal feelings should not replace why their there.

Agreed.

By the way, WTF was Oren Burks drafted for?
He's just like the old Josh Jones a wasted pick on a guy without a position.

2 weeks from today:
Vikings & Packers. Someone will win about 20-16, depends on who's less sloppy that game.

That part is listed in every single Packer article there is. What is missing in all those articles is the time. Thanks. I'm just looking for the time
