Packers Calendar: Preparations for the Chicago Bears Begin

Packers players return to work on Monday, hitting the practice field and getting ready for the Bears.

After getting nearly an entire week off for their annual bye, the Green Bay Packers reconvene on Monday and get back to work.

Head coach Mike McCarthy has a full day planned for his players, including film review the loss New Orleans Saints game that now occurred more than a week ago.

In years past, McCarthy would have his players review the film before they left for the bye, but he found that hasn't necessarily been effective.

"When we get back with the team on Monday, we're going to hit three things. We're going to correct this New Orleans Saints game," explained McCarthy. "As I've learned over my course time as a head coach, correcting the game, I used to like to used to get back, correct the game on Monday, get it in the can and get everything organized. But I don't think that's the case because I think sometimes those lessons get lost."

After looking back at the Saints game, the Packers start looking at how they can improve and then it's onto the Chicago Bears.

"We'll do all of our self-scout findings," said McCarthy. "We've got a couple little things that are new that I'll go through with the team in our team meeting at 8:00 Monday morning. Then we'll start our preparations for Chicago. We'll be working on regular down and distance for Chicago Monday on the practice field."

McCarthy meets with the media for a press conference at approximately 4:15 p.m. CT on Monday to be streamed live on Packers.com. He'll likely be asked about the status of a couple injured players, notably quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who's nursing a pulled hamstring from the Saints game.

The Packers, however, will not release an injury report until Wednesday, so how much injury information they share on Monday remains to be seen.

Before his press conference, McCarthy will be at the taping of his weekly television show at Lambeau Field. Fans are welcome to attend at 3:30 p.m. inside the fourth floor Associated Bank club level. The show will air Tuesday.

During the evening, several Packers talk shows air on local media:

  • 5:00 p.m.: The 5th Quarter on 1360 AM and 97.5 FM WTAQ in Green Bay with player guest Davante Adams, streamed live on WTAQ.com. Be part of the live audience at the Stadium View Grill and Bar in Green Bay.

The Bears have often been the cure for whatever ails the Packers lately. Let's hope that trend continues to knock out the taste of the ugly loss at NO.

Oh and speaking of upcoming preparations, Rob Demovsky had this about the next 3 weeks in the NFC North.

The Lions have Miami, Arizona and NE on tap. Combined record: 19-6.

The Packers next 3 opponents (Bears, Eagles, Vikes) have a combined record of 13-12.

And the Eagles will be without Foles and possibly DeMeco Ryans.

Minny & Chicago are fighting for a wild card spot?

Did you set the Flux Capacitor to November 3, 1985?

A win over Seattle or New Orleans would have helped what, exactly? 8-8 is 8-8, no matter who you beat.

"yeah - but i'm not rooting for 8-8."

==================================

Of course not. 5-11 is more like it and still technically possible.

"Doesn't matter if the Lions lose to New England because the Packers will also lose to New England."

Just like the Packers would lose to the Bears, Vikings and Panthers according to Cow.

Carry on.

Yeah, but he wasn't rooting for them to lose to those teams so it doesn't count. Apparently.

And a month ago you couldn't see how THIS Packer team could beat THAT Charger team. Or THAT Dallas team. Ad nauseam.

The Patriots team that played last night? Probably not.

The Patriots team that that lost to the Dolphins? The Patriots team that got blown out by the Chiefs? The Patriots team that barely beat the Jets? Probably.

This season is much more fluid and unpredictable than you seem willing to admit. Great teams one week get blown out the following. Yes, the Pats are on a roll right now. And at this very moment, they're probably the best team in the league. But a lot can and will change in 3 weeks.

Well since the Packers lost to Seattle in week 1 their season is/was over. Packers losing to Seattle in week 1 destroyed their one and only chance of getting to and winning a Super Bowl ring this year...

This is of course from Cow,

That is on TT. There was no reason to lose Rolle. There was and still is dead weight on the 53 man roster.

After watching the Vikes come to life the past two weeks, they are definitely in the hunt. It will not be the same team we beat when we travel there. Teddy is looking good, the D is coming together and I said pre season when they had Pederson, this team has the top three running back tandem in football.
I got money that says he is back on the team by the end of the week.
If we lose to the Bears, the Pack better hope the Vikes and LIons also lose.
I think 8-8 an missing the playoffs could be spot on if the Pack D doesn't start playing football.

Minnesota's D is definitely playing better, but since they are the Vikings the best they can hope to achieve is mediocrity. Like their fans.

Well, to his credit, trying anything is a good idea, because the lessons have not been learned, and they are fundamentals like wrapping up, gap integrity, etc.
