The good:
The offense is hitting its stride.
The defense is really stepping up and becoming a solid defense. The move of Clay Mathews really is paying off.
The team as a whole still has room for improvement. Meaning they have scored 50+ points each of the last 2 weeks and still can get better. Thats scary.

The bad:
Tackling still needs some work. (Burnett).
The special teams needs a lot of work. Blocked punt and extra point, and another messed up extra point. I hope those plays are out of their system because those are plays in close games you can't have happen.

The ugly:
Eagles a good call.
How about the penalty on the Packers for celebrating Hyde's PR.

(d) Prolonged or excessive celebrations or demonstrations by an individual player. Players are prohibited from engaging in any celebrations or demonstrations while on the ground. A celebration or demonstration shall be deemed excessive or prolonged if a player continues to celebrate or demonstrate after a warning from an official.
(e) Two or more players engaging in prolonged, excessive, premeditated, or choreographed celebrations or demonstrations.

I don't feel like the Packers broke this rule. But, I'm glad the officials didn't throw a bunch of QB ducking his head into the oncoming Pass Rushers helmet penalties. I hate those even more.

I totally agree, and given that this crew had thrown the most flags prior to this week, I'm a little surprised they let it go.

I would put Mark Sanchez in the Ugly explicitly. He had guys open, he just couldn't get the ball to them. If Foles had play this would be a much more competitive game.

Sanchez was better early. His accuracy fell off after those first two sacks. Agree it would have been more competitive w/Foles out there, but not much.

Sanchez has never been an accurate passer.

He's looking better this year with the Eagles. His completion percentage is up. His TD/INT ratio is improving. Led the Eagles to solid wins over Carolina and Houston in the previous two weeks. Seemed a bit off after the helmet-to-helmet contact on the sack. I don't think he was the reason the Eagles lost. The Eagles lost because the Packers defense is playing better, and the Packers offense cannot be stopped at home.

I honestly think those two inadvertent shots to the head affected Sanchez yesterday.

Actually, Foles has been pretty poor this year. I think Sanchez gave them a better chance to win, but the packers got pressure early and often and got him all discombobulated.

"I think Sanchez gave them a better chance to win,"

That's ridiculous. There is a reason the Jets dumped Dirty Mark Sanchez and it isn't because he's a legitimate starting QB, its because he's not. Sanchez completes a half dozen of those throws that any other starting QB in the league would have made and its a closer contest. I'm not saying the Eagles would have won, or even made it interesting, but beating Mark Sanchez is not really that significant.

That being said, hammering a QB early in the game is almost always a good thing, unless its Brett Favre - the only QB I've ever watched that somehow became better the more hits he took.

You apparently didn't see him in his last 7 playoff appearances. Favre hated getting hit.

It's not ridiculous. And it's not a declaration of Sanchez as a great qb. Foles has not played well this year. His downfield throwing has been atrocious. Sanchez is now in a system that many believe is a better fit for him, with an offensive-minded coach who can help coach him up. He looked better last week than Foles had looked all year.

I'm of the opinion that Foles is terrible and Sanchez is too.

Sanchez's passer rating was in the 90's for much of the game. Once they got down, he started getting flustered, and the pressure affected him, too.

I don't think it's fair to bring up Sanchez's time in New York. The Jets are a QB killing franchise. They don't develop their QB's at all, and their offensive schemes are atrocious. Sanchez is in a completely new offense and clearly playing the best football of his career.

Honestly, I don't think this came down to the QB. I think it came down to the OL. PHI couldn't pass protect or run the ball.

Was I the only person watching that game that saw Sanchez miss at least a half dozen throws that any other starting caliber QB in the league would have made? He was awful. And has always been awful.

Sanchez is nothing more than a back-up QB. Foles is nothing more than an average starting QB. If McCoy wasn't a top notch RB and if the NFC East didn't have two Division II Teams (WA/NY), there is no way they would have been 7-2 going into that game.

But hell, great fun watching the Pack beat the living pulp out of the Eagles.

The Eagles had receivers open, really open, and Sanchez consistently overthrew the ball. With a top 10 QB, this would have been a shootout.

G: Speed in the middle of the defense for the first time in forever, the OL keeping ARod clean against a ferocious pass rush, oh, and our machine of a QB

B: Mastay, Crosby, Special Teams blocking/tackling

I wouldn't put the blame on Mastay or Crosby as much as the blocking. They were jail breaks. Burnett does need work on tackling.

I would've included MM's calling a time out shortly before halftime thereby allowing the Eagles to go down and get a 3 points. How many times is this guy going to do this and get burned before he stops it. He's a good coach except for this and those dumb challenges.......

I don't disagree with that timeout at all. If the defense stops that third and long, we get the ball back with a minute or more, and the offense hadn't been stopped yet. I'm all for aggressiveness there.

Shawn Slocum must have naked pictures of McCarthy or something. How he keeps his job year after year is a mystery.

Clearly McCarthy does not like firing assistants. I don't like firing either. If I hired someone I feel an obligation to train them.

yeah, i was going to put Cow's predictions in the ugly, but chose not to. I figured, i would give the guy a break. Looks like he was the main topic of the gut reactions column.

The Good: Aaron Rodgers (could say this every home game it feels)
The Bad: WR drops (couple of dropped TD's and even catches were bobbled)
The Ugly: Special Teams (aborted PAT, blocked PAT, missed FG, blocked punt granted punt return for a TD)

HEY , Do you think we could maybe get Harris on the field besides kick off which seldom get returned?????????? He IS a fresh set of legs which can and will make a difference when controlling the ball and finishing off games! Our HC just compared him to the little dude from Philly so lets see!!

I'm not sure I want a small scat back running the clock out when the opponent knows we're going to run. It sounds like a good way to get him hurt.

Gotta think MM is saving him for cold weather, same for Starks. He has always said he liked what all 3 styles could bring, so he must have something up his sleeve.

I'm starting to wonder if skip cowless really isn't Brett Favre. He constantly sticks up for the viqueens and hates TT & MM. Just a thought.

Rodgers has been sacked 21 times this year. Kaepernick and Newton have been sacked 32 times each and Newton missed a game or 2. So much for the speedy mobile QB's that are changing the game.

Nice observation! Really underscores the quality of our O-line, which I tend to under appreciate.
