#1 wish for the Packers this year is good health and all the injured players to come back at close to full strength, even they miss or are limited for the first couple games. The rumors/talk about disgruntled players are also very concerning and hopefully it has been remedied by letting FAs walk, and trading players. I am actually mildly impressed with how GB has improved the team by signing some solid vets who will bring leadership as well as their play and strengthens some weaker position groups.
Hargrave, Franklin, St Juste, and Skyy Moore could very well be the best players at their position groups. All are upgrades. Maybe the only FA move that would make sense would have been to offer Rasheed Walker $4-5 million to stay for 1 more year as insurance on the OL. And we could have traded him mid-season for a late day 2/early day 3 pick. Some teams would be desperate after injuries by then.
Yes, we lost alot of snaps, but when a team has as many top FAs as we had available, you are going to be replacing snaps at key positions. We got a good start before the draft with some FAs, and maybe there are more trades to come. With a solid draft, filling needs first, and a few more reasonable FAs after the draft at NT, Edge, and CB, GB could become a very dangerous team by mid-season or earlier. If I was Gutey, I would make 2 small signings right now and that would be Rasul Douglas-CB-projected $2-3 million, and if medicals are good, A J Epenesa-$2 million. Both would easily displace other Packers players.
We have a lot of pieces in place, we just need a few more tweaks. And good health.
