While I understand that you were underlining the FOR NOW with Savion Williams, it seems sort of disingenuous to put Heath ahead of him. Williams didn't get turns with the ones because he was too far behind on the mental part, but there is NO way that they will play Heath ahead of him. Honestly, I'm a little surprised that Golden got work with the ones, but I suspect that was mainly PR for the media, since he was the first-round pick.

Doubs as "tier one" is so awkward. I think it's correct, but his concussions make him a huge risk; is it a good idea to give valuable practice reps to him, over the young guys who need them? Probably not, but it's also understandable why they are doing it.

"Williams didn't get turns with the ones because he was too far behind on the mental part, but there is NO way that they will play Heath ahead of him."

I agree: I think they'll design a package of plays to get Williams on the field early and with a set number of touches (or decoy snaps) per game...at least until he shows what he can do/handle. They love Heath and his physical blocking, but he may not be active until injuries start limiting availability...IF he makes the 53.

"I'm a little surprised that Golden got work with the ones, but I suspect that was mainly PR for the media, since he was the first-round pick."

We differ here in that I think Golden is going to play a lot and right away, so I think getting those reps is pretty important. They need his speed on the field, even if it means all he does is push safeties back. Even a developing Christian Watson--who missed a few games as a rook--played almost half the offensive snaps that year...although he brought blocking to the table that I don't think they'll get from Golden (so that's kind of a wild card, here).

I think we can safely assume that the Packers aren't giving Matthew Golden practice reps for PR purposes. If they did that, people would be even more disappointed when the season started and he didn't get much playing time. He was drafted in the first round because he is very talented, and he will play a lot unless he is not nearly as good as expected.

I think Doubs is WR #1 right now (or maybe #1A and 1B along with Jayden Reed), so he should be getting plenty of practice time. If they were concerned about his concussion risk, he wouldn't be on the team.

Golden has electric moves and fast feet. He's will be the bread winner when the dust settles.
