The tip of his thumb was broken which resulted in a mental block for LVN?
Let's be honest about late-stage contracts-Davante had a star record and was low-balled for a year. Gary and Clark did not perform commensurately and were rewarded with huge contracts. Davante is still performing-look @ Gary/Clark. Looks to me like Gutekunst wanted to throw more money @ the Defense.
If GB had provided a legitimate WR#2 (not Lazard/MVS), Rodgers would have looked @ them.
BTW-GB 'matched' the Raider's offer to Davante @ the 11th hour-damage was done. I don't believe for a minute Davante did not want to stay w/GB. He played w/o a contract for 8 months. Yes, he was asking for too much, but he was disrepected by Gutekunst low-balling him and Rodgers (who was too busy navel-gazing, golfing, picking up awards or cleansing or...)

As far as an X factor i like the idea of getting all three LBs Walker, Cooper and Simmons on the field together in a 4-3 mode. In addition to shutting down the run the blitz possibilities could really confuse opposing offenses . It is time to unleash Simmons. He didn't win the Butkus award for nothing. He is the X factor.
