Andy, you forgot John Williams! I think he's one of the sure-thing 8, then you have mainly Monk, Glover, and Telfort fighting for two spots.

With all the competition on the O-line, I would expect a 7th round pick to have a hard time making the team. Williams will be fighting it out with Monk, Glover, Telfort, and Donovan Jennings for the last three roster spots, if they keep 10.

Agreed. How do you cut a versatile Aerospace Engineer?
The best 5 may be Morgan, Banks, Jenks, Belton, and Tom. Walker and Rhyan as quality depth. Monk should make it given his C/G ability. Same rationale for Williams. He practiced at T, G and C at Cincinnati...Packers love to draft Tackles who can also play inside. Same rationale for the last spot to Jennings with G/T talent.

I don't have any objections to this roster. Of course those last few OL spots and last two CB spots are up for grabs, and Enagbare or Wooden could edge out the rookies for roster spots, but this should be close to the final roster.

I said after the draft that Enagbare would need a great camp to make the roster due to his contract status but Cox could also have a bad one. I think they could get something for Enagbare prior to the cuts. Not much, maybe a player for player swap or a 6th for a 7th but something. He's played in both fronts, dropped into coverage 30 times on sim pressures last year, so teams with an Edge shortage should have interest.

There's a lot of agreement here, but there are two assumptions that I'm not sure are going to hold up.
One is that Enagbare will be cut so we can save a couple of million. He's due to be paid a little over $3M, and his replacement will also be paid, so the net savings is probably around $2M, and I don't think that cutting a dependable vet who played well for to save $2M is the best path to the playoffs.
For those of you who've forgotten, he's never missed a game in three years. That's dependability. He was 3rd in sacks, despite playing slightly less than half the snaps, and dropping into coverage on a fair proportion of them. He also played a buttload of special teams snaps. If you think you're a legit playoff team with Super Bowl aspirations, I don't think the $2M you save is going to seem like a bargain. This is being penny wise and pound foolish.
Another guy is Wooden. Again, he's stayed healthy, he's dependable, he has some versatility, he's cheap. And he probably won a game for us last year by blocking a FG. We're sure that Warren Brinson is going to be better? Why?
The pads won't go on for another 3 months, so there's no way of knowing. I just think that getting rid of a guy who you KNOW can do it in favor of a guy that you THINK is better is taking chances you don't have to, and it will eventually backfire on you.

Wooden is a 3T. We have a lot of 3T type bodies, arguably including a DE or two. He’s not a great candidate to play NT. Brinson is a bigger man who is much stouter against the run than Wooden and has the potential to be somewhat disruptive while doing so, at least at or beyond the level Wooden has delivered.
I believe Brinson should start out as a 3T and work on being disruptive, allowing Stackhouse to take on the core run NT work. Stackhouse was consistently better occupying blockers and stopping the run. Brinson isn’t bad at all, but Stackhouse is genuinely good. Unfortunately he doesn’t bring much else. Really, Wooden hasn’t either, being the weakest link in the run game and managing only half a sack in 2 years.

Well, we agree on Stackhouse. I was pretty happy when we signed him. It has occurred to me that the Packer brass might have realized they didn't need a first round DT when they could get a guy like Stackhouse as a UDFA. If all we wanted to do was replace Slaton with somebody younger and cheaper, Stackhouse fills the bill.
IMO, he's likely to make not only the 53 man squad, but the 45 man roster as well.
Wooden was the weakest link on the #3 rushing defense. IF he's replaced, there' ll be a new weakest link.
Look, if any of these guys are genuinely better, great. Like I said, it's about 3 months before the pads go on so we're not going to know before then. Wooden has proven that he can play and survive in the NFL.....the other guys haven't yet.

Wooden didn't block a field goal, that was Carl Brooks.
Enagbare is a pretty good player, but he could be the odd man out as the Packers try to diversify their pass rush. Also, after three years, he may have reached his ceiling, so they may be willing to take a chance on a younger player with more upside. Same goes for Wooden. I don't have any skin in this game. May the best man win. But if it's a virtual tie, they may go with the younger guys.

If they want a true blocking TE then Messiah Swinson is in with a real shout. The 3rd TE hasn’t done much at all offensively anyway, particularly last year. If that’s the role then Swinson brings more in line and as a lead blocker. I don’t know much about Lumpkin.
Of the returning depth corners, the one I’d like to see make an impact is Kaleb Hayes. He has elite physical tools and if he does break out, thus the most upside on paper.
Again on paper, I like Jennings more than Williams as a G or reserve T, unless Williams is going to be groomed as a C. We didn’t get to see Jennings healthy last summer, so he could be a pleasant surprise. I honestly don’t think Telfort will make it. We’ve now got too many better athletes competing to be a back up G and with more upside.

Didn't Ted keep a whole herd of TEs one year? McCarthy was enamored with the position for STs and TT obliged.
After Savion Williams was picked, it occurred to me he could play in a hybrid "12" personnel with Kraft as long as the rookie improves his blocking, maybe even add 10-15 lbs. He's a willing blocker, but not very effective yet doing it.
Don't believe he has been asked to focus on it. Still, he's probably as good a blocker as Musgrave now, who seems to be at a fork on his career road.

I think it’s a bit of a stretch that either of those two turn into a true blocking TE. Williams could work on being a good blocking WR but he’s not close to that yet. Sims and FitzPatrick are just adequate blockers as TEs. I’m not sure I want Williams adding too much weight, he’s not blazing fast as it is. I think speed, burst and agility will serve him better.
Sims and Fitzpatrick block better than Musgrave, but they both were barely used offensively so why not go with a specialist? Lumpkin is 6’6” and 264 and also seems to be a blocking TE primarily. One of him or Swinson would seem like they might be a better active 3rd TE in this offense.
I agree with you on Musgrave. In part though that’s down to LaFleur rediscovering a role for him as much as his injury hangover. He was never going to be a Y TE. He’s a move who needs to be used differently than Kraft and we saw little of that last year even when he was out there, in contrast to his rookie year.
Is he a toy that LaFleur no longer has a plan to use, or one simply supplanted by Kraft emerging in the passing game to the extent he has? If so, LaFleur needs to get inventive. Musgrave needs to be a part of this O, if not as a leading focus. He has too much talent to ignore if he’s physically and mentally right.

Musgrave coping with injury hangovers an appropriate way to put it. He was so much better as a rookie. And like Watson, seems cursed with the I bug.
I am not recommending turning Williams into a TE, just to make him familiar with 12 personnel plays and let him take a few snaps per game from Musgrave in that formation.
12, motion, jet handoffs, playing out of the backfield...LaFleur is a creative man. Williams is not just a Swiss Army Knife, he's an F-35 fighter and will be on the field several plays as a rookie on O...and a mainstay on STs.
I confess I did not like the pick when it happened with so many talented DL on the board. But dang, he's a multi-talented football player...especially for LaFleur, when he is creative. Love is going to love Golden, and he's going to enjoy playing with silver, in Williams.

Sounds very nice with two possible changes. I see Isaiah Simmons as are third LB.
Secondly, I see RB Amar Johnson as our third RB. Watch his film and you will know why. I wouldn't risk him on the practice squad.

I can see Johnson on the PS. He’s lighter but similar to Lloyd in style and attributes and a decent blocker at a lower level. He’d be good depth behind Lloyd as Wilson is behind Jacobs, allowing the O to remain unchanged if the first choice is out.
I doubt we have too much trouble stashing Johnson on the PS. It’s not often teams pounce on RBs at cut downs, even drafted ones.
