He misses too much time. He will be cut because it is better to have a guy who is cheap that can play over a guy who takes up a ton of cap space and misses 10 games.

The team that has good cap space and in need of a CB might be willing to offer a 6th or 7th to ensure someone else (a rival) doesn’t get him. Gute and Ball decide where the savings will be deployed, retaining a player or signing a FA. Win-win.
