Here's a different angle:
I've been saying they're due to draft a WR
BUT
Doubs Wicks Melton and Reed are all capable of catching a deep ball if MLF can scheme them open. Gutey already hit on #85 & 88. In '23 we were all saying rely on the run game to establish the pass, and that didn't happen much until the Cinderella end of the season and even then there wasn't a truly dominant O line all the way across. #85 88 8 and 11 all perfect for high probability short passes with 3 more WRs to use down the field, the case can be made to build the trenches and at CB.
Would waiting another year to draft a WR really hurt the team? Maybe not?

Alexander.....
Dougherty has essentially said that he's finished in Green Bay. We can save a few dollars on the salary cap this year by cutting him or trading him, but it seems that the team is just tired of never having this guy available when they need him and they're ready to move on without him. We could get a much more reliable CB in FA for $15M and play Nixon/Valentine/rookie at the other CB.
You know, as Inspector Clouseau once famously said 'Nothing is foolproof if you have a big enough fool'. We have 31 potential trading partners out there. Some of them have traded for old, dying QBs, or worse, and we only need one partner. 1 out of 31. So the odds are good there.
Whoever picks him up would owe him $34M in salary over the next two years.,....UNLESS his contract were renegotiated. We're going to owe him $20M, regardless.
At this point, I'd take a 4th round pick for Alexander in a heartbeat, just for the salary cap space and to move forward at that position. He's convinced me that you can't depend on him.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The WR situation. Our returning starters are Reed and Wicks. Doubs will also return, but I'm not sure we can count on him to be our 3rd starter at WR. Watson is out of the picture. Melton is a FA.
We have to get a guy who can replace Watson's 555 snaps from last year (that's a little better than 30/game), and IMO, we should get some insurance for Doubs, too., and not some 7th round/UDFA guy.
