Fans are concerned because GB has a tendency to hire from within and many of those choices are mediocre or over-promoted. It's unsettling to watch the rest of the league searching for better coaches while what we see are 3 candidates who were hired by other teams. The best coaches are off the board right away. This kind of situation has historically led to an inevitable inside choice. It is also troubling it takes so long to move on from the Rebrovich's, Barry's & Bisaccias's.The standards seem higher outside of GB. Coaches who are not performing are fired after 1 year, not 3-4. Fans were excited that Green Bay was interviewing external candidates who had good reputations. Whitecotton has an excellent reputation and was in play among several teams. Kacy did not linger-the Lions took him several weeks ago. I'd be interested to know what happened.
Rumors were circulating that the Jets wanted Whitecotton back as well.. GB had to know he was not a secure hire several weeks ago.

Your repeated narrative may or may not be true. Had you heard of Aaron Whitecotton or Kacy Rodgers prior to January 2025? Former Packers DL coach Jerry Montgomery hasn't had a problem finding work since the Packers parted ways with him. Many consider him highly regarded.

How did the Lions fill their vacant DC and OC positions? The 49ers? I think if you look around the NFL, you'll find a variety of successful hiring practices. One thing is certain, it's a lot about who you know.

-I also follow the Jets and was well-acquainted with Aaron Whitecotton. Frankly, I was surprised he was available.

-Jerry Montgomery is not on anyone's list.

-Most high-functioning teams place more urgency on hiring the best available coaches right now.
Coaching hiring cycle is right now. Where is GB?

Gute is basically average at drafting players. The teams we are chasing their GM’s are very good.

You can’t have an expensive QB and be average at drafting players and expect to be elite.

Drafting a long snapper, Punter and Kicker is absurd, the fact that none of them are currently on the team is even worse.

We have to ask ourselves- are we better than we were 7 years ago or even last year?

Lots of teams draft punters and kickers. Nothing absurd about that. I'm with you on the long snapper though.
