Agreed with keeping three QBs--provided that Clifford and Pratt both play well in training camp, of course. They used a roster spot on Brenton Cox all last season, and he barely saw the field, so they could use a roster spot for a third QB.

I don't see them keeping Andre Dillard. I think he got starting reps in the OTAs because he is a veteran, and they want to give him his opportunity to prove himself early in camp. If he is not clearly beating out the younger guys, he will be gone, maybe sooner rather than later. Also, I don't see Travis Glover as a near lock. I'm going with Caleb Jones and Donovan Jennings instead of Dillard and Glover.

I think they will keep Trevor Davis as a fourth TE.

My only different pick on defense would be that I would not keep six CBs. They only kept four at the beginning of the season last year. Kalen King is the one on your roster who is most likely to get cut.

We'll see what happens though. There are probably going to be a couple of guys who unexpectedly play their way onto the roster, especially if there are injuries.

Interesting take. On the offensive line backups you mentioned, we'd like to dress 3 and have at least one more on the PS.

In the interior, we have Newman, Glover, Jennings, Monk. Ideally, we'd have two interior backups. Pick your poison. Did the team select Glover and Monk so they could cut them in favor of a guy like Jennings? I don't think so. This means that the best case scenario for the organization is that Glover and Monk can play well enough to part company with Newman.

We have three good tackles to suit up, and you'd like one more. No matter how we stretch this, we really don't have much depth.

On King, you can never have too many guys who can cover and tackle. We got lucky last year that Nixon and Valentine stayed healthy and played well. Additionally, the Packers understood it was better to give up 5 yards on a rushing attempt than 7 yards on a passing attempt. That's why they had relatively few passing attempts, completions, and yards against them.

It sounds like the Packers are going to try to encourage teams to throw against them more this year, anticipating Alexander is back and Valentine is more experienced.

Nobody is suggesting they cut Monk. 5th round draft picks usually make the team, and Monk seems pretty NFL ready for a rookie. Glover seems more like a project, which is why I have Jennings beating him out, but that's just a guess.

There is a lot of consensus this year on who will make the roster. More than usual, I think.

I've had the same opinion about Jennings over Glover, ever since the draft.
Glover just doesn't seem like a Packer O lineman, with his heavy feet.
Jennings seems like a much better pass-blocking player, and with his extensive experience at OLT, he seems like a great OLG/OLT swing backup.

My issue with Glover is they already had three just like him. They've largely succeeded for 20 years drafting athletic linemen and fitting them in, I'm not sure why they have four lumbering guys on the roster. Hopefully it's down to one on the roster and maybe one on the PS at the end of camp.

Jennings was ranked higher on the consensus board than Glover was, nobody would bar an eye if the would have drafted Jennings and signed Glover as a UDFA. There's a reason they gave $100K in guarantees against his salary.

My current thought is that this year's rookie crop is mostly going to have "a rough camp."
Not because they aren't as good as past drafts, but because the Packer's vets are going to be tough opponents in camp. Iron-sharpens-iron, but it also makes rookies look bad!
:-D
Other than Marshon Lloyd (RBs (when running the ball) don't have the same disadvantages, I expect all the rookies to struggle a bit.
Cooper may be an exception, if he's mostly given freedom, and Bullard has the makeup to not embarrass himself, but I think the offensive lineman are going to have their hands full against Clark, Wyatt, Brooks, Gary, Smith, VanNess, Enagbare, et al.
