According to PFT (take a pinch of salt here) the Packers are demanding more than a first rounder …

“Per multiple sources, the Packers want a first-round pick and more from the Jets for Rodgers.

The Packers want more than a first-round pick as part of the base deal. They want protection in 2025, in the event Rodgers plays in 2024. And that’s more than the Jets believe they should surrender for a player the Packers no longer want.

If the Jets are willing to offer something like a conditional package that would entail as much as a second-round pick this year and up to a second-round pick next year, the Packers would be nuts to not take it.”

Of course, PFT isn’t all knowing—they still haven't grasped that Gute isn’t the negotiator or his boss yet:

“Frankly, it feels personal at this point, and that’s no surprise. Rodgers reportedly wanted Packers G.M. Brian Gutekunst to be fired a couple of years ago, something Rodgers never really tried to refute. Now, two years later, Gutekunst has a chance to exact a little revenge — and so he is.”

If anyone is seeking revenge it would have to be Murphy if he feels Rodgers suckered him last year. However, I think a first this year and a conditional 2/3 next would be reasonable and thus that PFT is as usual leaning too far against the packers, but it’s interesting that the blogosphere seems to be shifting towards believing Rodgers isn’t worth a first and more.

Let’s hope Ball/Murphy don’t over play this, but I sense the spin efforts are increasing and that Rodgers comments were designed to add impetus to the “Packers are asking too much” narrative.

That may not bother those within Lambeau, but it starts to give the Jets an out due to Packer intransigence, making it very much easier for them to move on. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what’s fueling these sources. I would be were I them. If I fail I still look daring and ambitious but just not willing to be fleeced.

The best for Packers is simply not give into diva Rodgers.. He needs to be brought to reality he is an older partially washed player who achievements have reached their peak and the Packers are smart to exact back on him what Rodgers did to them last year with his sneering lies.

We have in last year unfortunately. Now we see if he has the will to exploit that if we try to get more than the Jets are willing to give
