Neal "Day To Day" According To McCarthy

Mike Neal was held out of practice today but was not ruled out of Friday's contest against the Cardinals.

Mike McCarthy provided an update on injured defensive end Mike Neal after practice today, albeit brief, telling reporters that Neal would be "day to day." McCarthy did say that Neal did not undergo a scan of his injured knee.

Neal did not practice, but McCarthy would not rule out his playing in the Cardinals game on Friday night.

In other injury news, both safety Anthony Levine and defensive lineman Laurence Guy were held out of practice due to concussions. Levine had collided violently with Pat Lee in practice yesterday while Guy is dealing with symptoms from a concussion suffered earlier in camp.

I'll admit it. When I see the little ambulance logo, my stomach turns. You guys need a less harsh logo for smaller injuries.

I love the ambulance! Don't let it go.

Can you also incorporate the animation from Madden '92 when the ambulance would run over the pile? That was glorious.

Don't listen to Ken!

The ambulance has been there the last 3 years, curiously the same period of time where we've had the most number of injuries in the last 10 or so years.

Coincidence??? I think not.

Do not play Neal Friday night. Still believe he should get the MRI. If there was swelling the could be a small tear (I'm not a doctor, I just play one on TV).

Tough spot for Guy trying to make the team. Concussions, and avoiding them, are going to be a point of emphasis going forward in the NFL.

I agree Mojo, I'm not a Doctor either but I am medical (postgraduate degree) & have been around Sports Medicine for 15yrs. There is still reason for concern. It is certainly possible that Neal has a small tear in a ligament or other injury (MCL, ACL, 'loose body' from trauma); ESPECIALLY considering the pain he experienced at the time of injury. However, if it was cleared by McKenzie et al., the tear will probably: 1)repair itself or 2)require a simple knee scope; either of which would put Neal out 7-21 days. I felt sure they'd do an MRI, but I must stress that it may have been omitted because of some stupid-as-shit insurance/managed care contract, even within the Packers realm of care. Even the financially resourceful are being affected by new changes. It's also possible that he could play Friday.
