Linebacker Diyral Briggs Released by Packers

The Packers have reportedly parted ways with outside linebacker and special teams player Diyral Briggs, a member of their Super Bowl winning team last season.

According to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com, the Packers have released linebacker Diyral Briggs.

Briggs was a key contributor to the Packers on special teams during last year's Super Bowl season. He was fourth on the team with four special teams tackles in the postseason and fifth during the regular season with eight special teams tackles.

Briggs was claimed off waivers by the Packers late last October when injuries to Brady Poppinga and Brad Jones left the Packers thin at the outside linebacker position.

The most recent reports coming out of Green Bay were that Briggs had still not passed his physical after suffering a hamstring injury and did not play in the Packers' preseason opener at Cleveland.

There was no word in the report from Wilson whether Briggs had reached an injury settlement with the Packers or was cleared to return and then waived.

Briggs appears in a widely-circulated photo holding up the front page of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel proclaiming the Packers as Super Bowl champs amidst swirling confetti in the immediate aftermath of the game last February in Arlington, Tex.

Did they release his other brother Diyral as well?

(This was probably my last and only chance to use that one again)
