The Bears Still Suck. Aaron Rodgers and the struggling Packers put together a complete game to come back against the up-and-coming Bears. The Packers may yet be dead, but not against their rival. Oh, and now the Packers are the NFL's league leader in wins, the first time since the league's inception. 

First Quarter

Starting with the ball, Justin Fields and the Bears got the offense off to a quick start with a 20-yard completion for former Packer Equanimeous St. Brown. After a run of 9 from Fields, the Bears converted a 3rd-and-1 sneak. The Packers stopped an attempted reverse-pass and then a David Montgomery handoff bringing up 3rd and long. Fields would scramble for 7, but was stopped short bringing in kicker Cairo Santos for a 40-yard field goal to open up the scoring 3-0 Bears.

On the Packers first opportunity at their on 18, Aaron Jones took a screen pass for 9 followed by a short AJ Dillon run and a first down. But after a positive and negative Jones run, it was 3rd and long and another screen pass to 33 was stopped to force a Pat O'Donnell punt.

Chicago came back out at their own 30 and after two stuffed David Montgomery runs, Fields hit Cole Kmet for a first down. Then, Justin Fields did what Justin Fields does and popped a long touchdown run to extend the lead to 10-0. More Packers missed tackles gave the quarterback a boost on his run.

Coming back out, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers opened the drive with a 20-yard completion to receiver Allen Lazard. Another Dillon run netted one more first down at the Bears' 35 to end the first.

Second Quarter

After an AJ Dillon toss play brought up 3rd-and-1, he was able to convert on another short run inside. Jones plays moved the sticks down to the Bears 12, but the drive would ultimately stall inside the 10 with a Mason Crosby field goal to cut the lead to 10-3.

On the ensuing Bears drive, Fields hit Chase Claypool on back to pack passes, but the second was a Rasul Douglas forced fumble recovered by Rudy Ford. On first look, it appeared that Claypool was down - however, review showed the ball was out and the Packers were in business inside Chicago territory. But the Packers were unable to convert going 4-and-out to give it right back.

The next play, Fields had plenty of time in the pocket to go deep back to former Packer St. Brown down to the Packers 7. Jaire Alexander got absolutely roasted by the Bears receiver. David Montgomery took the next handoff in for the touchdown to make it 16-3. Santos missed the kick, however, to keep it that way.

WIth time running low in the second, the Packers were quickly able to get inside the Bears 20 on an Aaron Jones run. Facing a 3rd-and-3, Rodgers canned the play and handed off to Jones, who was stuffed in the backfield. Going for it on fourth down, Rodgers bought time and hit a strike to Christian Watson in the end zone to cut the lead to 16-10 going into halftime.

Third Quarter

After a 7-yard AJ Dillon run, Dillon tripped on second down but wasn't touched. The officials blew the play dead, though, and they were unable to convert the third down play and were forced to punt to start the second. However, the defense showed up when Jaire Alexander blew up a bubble screen on 3rd down for the Bears and the Packers had it right back.

But Green Bay's offensive struggles showed up again, starting the drive with a false start and Randall Cobb drop. Rodgers hit tight end Robert Tonyan on 3rd down, but nowhere near the sticks. O'Donnell would punt it away again.

Sticking with running back David Montgomery, the Bears picked up 7 on first down, then again on second down to move the chains. A screen to Claypool then a stuffed Fields scramble brought up 3rd-and-long, when Fields bought time and found tight end Cole Kmet for the first down inside the Packers 35. Chicago was able to convert their next third down as well, gashing a run inside the Green Bay 10. After a holding call and back-to-back total team defense run stuffs, it was 3rd and goal outside the red zone. Fields was able to complete a pass to Dante Pettis, which would bring out Santos for a field goal to make it 19-10 Bears late in the third.

Aaron Rodgers and the offense came out inside their own 20, where AJ Dillon was stuffed on first down and picked up a couple on second. On 3rd-and-7, Rodgers hit a wide open Watson on the sidelines to sustain the drive, ending the third.

Fourth Quarter

Going deep on first down, Christian Watson went deep, blowing right by his defender. Rodgers underthrew the ball which forced a pass interference penalty, moving green Bay down to the Bears' 26. Chicago picked up an illegal contact penalty on the next play, after Rodgers threw incomplete under pressure. Faking the jet sweep to Watson, Green Bay ran a counter handoff to AJ Dillon who made a house call to cut it to 19-17 Bears early in the fourth. We have a ballgame in the Windy City.

On first down on the next possession, Fields bought time and threw a jump ball to receiver N'Keal Harry who came down with the completion over Alexander at the Packers 30. Another disappointing performance for the highly-compensated corner. Montgomery picked up a few on second down, bringing up 3rd-and-5, which the Packers stuffed to bring Santos back out. The Packers blocked the kick (you read that right) to bring the Packers back out down two. Finally, the Packers special teams are the ones making the big play.

Taking over at the Bears 30 with just over 11 minutes to go, Rodgers and the Packers hit Lazard for a 2nd-and-6 completion to move the chains. AJ Dillon took a toss for 4, and then Rodgers bought time in the pocket and found Dillon for the first down. A run by Dillon and Patrick Taylor moved the sticks yet again - the good guys were driving. Now at the Bears' 32, a completion to Samori Toure set up 3rd-and-3, where AJ Dillon found his way up the gut for the first down. Aaron Jones, finally back in the game, took the net carry for 7, and then he was stopped for a loss and was hurt on the play. On 3rd-and-5, Rodgers overthrew Tonyan in tight coverage to force a Crosby field goal. Tonyan appeared to be held on the replay, but no call was made. Crosby hit the kick and the Packers had the lead 20-19.

Chicago took othe possession at their 30, and started with a completion to Kmet for 5. Montgomery rushed ahead across the 40 and a first down, then Fields missed him on a pass attempt on the next first down. Fields was able to connect with Kmet on second down, though, and quickly the Bears were in business. With the offense moving quickly down the field, Fields dropped and attempted a pass to St. Brown when Jaire Alexander, on a tough day, popped in front for the critical interception. The Packers took over at their own 30 with a chance to kill the game.

Throwing on first down, Rodgers hit Christian Watson over the 50. AJ Dillon took a short handoff and up came the two-minute warning. On the very next play, Rodgers hit Christian Watson across the middle and he ripped on the burners to take it to the house. Up 7, the Packers elected to go for 2 to end the game. Rodgers took the snap and hit Big Dog Marcedes Lewis for the conversion to make it two possessions, 28-19.

Low on time and points, the Bears nickle-and-dimed their way down the field with under a minute remaining. A desperation deep throw was intercepted by Keisean Nixon, and shockingly, the Bears proved they still suck.

What Went Right

The second half! Maybe their most complete half all year, the Packers scored almost at will, and the defense made huge plays when it mattered most. It was really nice to see, finally.

What Went Wrong

First half defense. They stink, stank, stunk. MIssing tackles, leaving receivers open. This unit is grossly underachieving, but that second half will make us forget it quickly.

Offensive MVP

Aaron Rodgers. He avoided mistakes, hit open receivers and did what he does against his property. Love to see it.

Defensive MVP

Jaire Alexander got cooked a few times in this game, but came up huge with his interception to all but seal the game. We know he's elite, but he needs to show it more. We love you, Jaire.
