Around the NFC North: Trades
Who might be available in the North?
By Mike Price

Training camp is just around the corner and NFL GMs already have an idea of who they'll want to keep on the 53-man roster and practice squad. As we talked about a few weeks ago, the North GMs all are likely thinking about how to shed some cap for the next few seasons. Let's talk about a few players who could be traded from each of the inferior teams.
Bears
We'll start with the Bears because they probably have the least to work with here as far as trading players away. The biggest one, and it's a stretch, is perhaps DJ Moore.
Moore vascillates from overrated to underrated from week to week and has a history of not great body language when he feels underrated. Let's say Rome Odunze has a great training camp, Ben Johnson wants to go with two tight ends most of the time and Moore just isn't gelling with Caleb Williams in year two. Why not see what you can get for him? If they could get a second-round pick, I think it would be worth it. It's a transition season anyway.
Montez Sweat is the defensive version of Moore. He was shot out of a cannon a year and a half ago when he was traded to the Bears and almost single-handedly made their defense NFL worthy. Then last year he played hurt and wasn't as good. The Bears brought in a younger and cheaper version of him n free agency with Dayo Odeyingbo, if he flashes in training camp and Sweat seems ot be loafing, trade him and save $20mm on the cap. Moore would save $20 mm as well by the way.
Lions
My top choice for the Lions is the homeless man's Clay Matthews - Alex Anzalone. Anzalone has been just OK since the Lions acquired him a few years ago, and since then, they used a first-round pick on a linebacker and then paid former draft pick Derrick Barnes starting money. Trading Anzalone would shed about $6mm on the cap, not a ton when the team already has $50mm in space this year, but they're gonna have issues in the next few years. If they have faith in Barnes, give Anzalone a chance to start somewhere else and start working on the cap now.
The wildest trade here would be Terrion Arnold. Arnold was a first-round pick last year and was bad in his rookie year. A lot of his bad grades came earlier in the year when he couldn't stop grabbing. If the Lions think he isn't redeemable (remember this happened recently with a Lions first-round pick at corner), they could try to deal him while some part of the NFL still has faith.
Vikings
The obvious choice here is Brian O'Neill. The team's right tackle would likely yield a ton in a trade, would save $18mm on the cap and they just drafted an oversized college left tackle.
Sure, the Vikings said they drafted Donovan Jackson, former Ohio State left tackle, to play guard, but they've been talking a lot about his versatility and ability to play tackle. We all know that you should give players a chance to fail at tackle before pigeonholing them inside. If Jackson looks like a superstar in camp, start him at tackle and trade O'Neil. You can find someone to play guard. The Packers will probably cut three people who the Vikings could start at guard.
A dark horse pick is TJ Hockenson. The former first-round pick in Detroit was semi-outplayed by Josh Oliver at times last year. Oliver had PFF's best run-blocking grade among TEs and a starter-level receiving grade. Focusing on him at tight end and getting some more capital out of Hockenson could let the team run a unique spread offense with the receiving corps while retaining the ability to power run.

Post draft until training camp is the WORST time in the NFL calendar for tolerable rivals. Every single one of our competitors in the Norris have annoyed TF out of me with their complete lack of common sense.
I can't wait for every single one of them to cry when Green Bay beats them senseless.
