Confessions of a Polluted Mindset - It's Only Family Night, but...

The Weekly Packers Brain Drain from Jersey Al.

Ah, Family Night. A tradition like no other, And I'm not just talking about the event itself, but also the overreactions and judgments made by fans based on viewing the on-the-field activities. Far be it from me to let the opportunity pass to give out my own polluted thoughts based on what I saw, so here goes.

It's Only Family Night, but... it wasn't anything more than an average showing by Jordan Love. Accuracy (especially on longer throws) was an issue and yes, he's still throwing off his back foot while fading away. Sure sometimes you have no choice, but I feel like it's a habit he is just having a hard time breaking.

It's Only Family Night, but... Jordan Morgan as a left tackle has a long way to go. The Packers would love for him to win the left tackle job, but I don't think that's going to happen, at least not this year. What I saw unfortunately matched up with what I wrote about him for the CHTV Draft Guide:

Morgan uses two-hand punches, not with independent hands, and can get his hands too wide, allowing rushers into his chest and giving up ground back into the quarterback... needs to hit the weight room to be able to hold up better against power. Overall, he has a lot of what the Packers look for—experience, movement ability, and multi-position versatility. Factor in an arm length below their threshold for tackles and Morgan is your classic Packers left tackle-to-guard convert who can play tackle if needed.

It's Only Family Night, but...Omar Brown is a future All-Pro. Ok, I'm just kidding. Honestly, when I heard the name Omar Brown it was like it was the first time, even though he was on the PS and even called up for a few games last season. I had no idea who he was.

It's Only Family Night, but...Matthew Golden will finish the season firmly established as their WR1.He's got the "it" factor, has passion for the game, works his ass off and he can actually CATCH THE FOOTBALL!

It's Only Family Night, but...Carrington Valentine is making my belief in him look good. I love his aggressiveness, which means sometimes he's going to beat, but which cornerback doesn't. Most of the time, he's pretty "sticky" on receivers and makes it difficult for them to run good routes. I'd be fine with him as the starter opposite Nixon with Hobbs and/or Bullard in the slot. I'm the conductor on the Valentine hype train.

It's Only Family Night, but...Kadeem Telfort is not long for this team. Pass rushers went around him like it was a Combine pass rush drill against the tackle dummies.

It's Only Family Night, but...It's obvious Brandon McManus is the greatest kicker in the history of the Green Bay Packers, um, I mean, Family Night.

It's Only Family Night, but...Barryn Sorrell has some "juice" going after the quarterback. I have no idea yet if he can hold up against the run, but I'm excited to see what he does in the preseason games.

It's Only Family Night, but...The defensive line as a group is looking strong. Kenny Clark looks like his old self, Gary is hyped up, LVN is showing signs of awakening, Wyatt has been quiet, though. Stackhouse, Cox and Sorrell have been flashing, Wooden or Brooks might be in danger.

Just a few of my polluted thoughts,,, but then again, it was only Family Night.

I appreciate the dose of reservation when hype's being dished out like methadone in a rehab facility.

I remember at this point of the year, half the folks here decided Ty Summers would be a Hall of Famer. Biggest disappointment and puzzlement for me is when they paid pro bowl money to Aaron Banks, who has been pretty average in his career. It sounds like he hasn't looked good so far this year. I'll never understand what Gute was thinking there, but hopefully I'll be proven wrong and he'll be a stud. If not, Gute wasted a huge amount of salary cap money.

I haven't heard much about Aaron Banks, one way or another, in training camp so far. I count that as a positive for an O-lineman.

Just realizing the long offseason is about over. It got chilly last night, so I thought time to start my mornings here. Thanks for waking me up and polluting my coffee. True fans eat hype. Serve it up. Who cares? Most people gamble regardless if they were betting right. Betting itself is the fun, right? Thus...hype without apologies. I like it because I can't watch the preseason unfoldings. Cheers to all, porupak is back.

It was only family night, but I like the outlook given.

Wonder if anyone can get Love to kick his bad habits if Tom Clements couldn't and he's no longer with the team? Every QB needs to look at their own video and see what's going on because even the best fall into ruts now and then. Favre had bad habits but seemed to have seasons where he'd not let them mire him down. Hope Love can do things like that too. Rodgers self-scouted and found himself surprised by some of the things he'd slipped into. He got them fixed and won back-to-back MVPs.

I have done that with my golf swing and yes it helped. The problem is I cannot afford to go to a practice facility to record my swing so I am sure much of my problems are I went back to my old habits.

It’s only family night- but nothing will change.
Love's flashes of brilliance has never been questioned
It’s the lack of consistency that has always been highlighted.

While LVN development has always been the concern.
I doubt anyone will exceed are expectations after P. Smith.

Nazir Stackhouse is my choice to replace the quiet Devante Wyatt.
Because no one is going to take Kenny Clarks job. Not now not later.
Regardless- the strength of this defense will be it’s Lbs.

IMO- The deeper look shows.
Morgan should not replace Walker!
Mathew Golden should open up a trade-
"To trade a WR or two." He's #1 NOW.

Watching Jordan Love’s horrible footwork was extremely disappointing. This is fifth season in the league and the problem has yet to be corrected so I’m thinking this is just who he is, a middle of the pack QB. I sure hope the light goes on at some point.

thats exactly what he seems to be...average, perhaps a bit above average QB...but an average QB can take a good TEAM pretty far into the playoffs....it will take a good surrounding team and coach though...

I have never understood Stenavich’s appreciation of Telfort. Yes he’s a big man but he’s really not athletic, even for a G. His RAS is 1.59 and that’s boosted by ideal height and weight. He looked like that as a rookie and that has, unsurprisingly, not changed. As of last year it looked like he was purely seen as a G, and he still was behind Glover who had barely practiced at the position. He is still listed as a T on the team website however.

Hanson and Newman had at least some athletic ability on their side that perhaps one could see a reason to persist and hope it could be unlocked. Telfort lacks even that. He just seems to be one of Stenavich’s “in” people. At some point Gute needs to step in too. It’s unlikely there hasn’t been a G or T out there that could at least match Telfort’s potential. Yet here we are.

I assume that the injuries to Walker and Glover played a part in Telfort getting out there, but if Telfort is the 4th option behind Tom and Belton and Glover, we need a younger, better alternative and perhaps should consider Morgan getting time there in practice. How bad is Brant Banks (or any other depth OL type—Banks is one actually listed as a T)? Is he so bad he’d endanger a back up QB much more significantly than Telfort? Maybe, but at least he might get better and thus the snaps not be wasted.

Stenavich has a record of strange personnel preferences and loyalty. Telfort continues it. Gute should have seen that and given him additional options. Perhaps he has but Stenavich is just holding them back as he did with Tom for one. If you are going to waste snaps, waste them where there might be upside. Heck, even if the deep depth is scary, Caleb Jones is a FA, we’d be better off for the next month with him than Telfort, whatever Stenavich thinks. Come on Gute, take the lead if the OC and HC will not.

Not disdain, just that he’s always been what he is. It’s not effort or attitude but the fact is he’s just not as physically gifted. As a result, the outcome Al referenced is really neither new nor surprising as a result. That’s why he’d essentially been consigned to G and even then fell behind Glover, who is raw, hadn’t really played or practiced as a G but has physical upside at least. My concerns are why the team is still pretending otherwise.

I’m sure the coaches have input, but ultimately no, that’s on the FO. What the coaches do control is who gets opportunities and where and when. If you recall it was Gute that finally ended the Hanson experience and that of Amari Rodgers, not the coaches not giving them snaps.

Stenovich, with LaFleur's apparent agreement, likes to like his starting 5. Not the Best 5, but the Favorite 5. His seeming infatuation with Myers was puzzling. Two years ago when everyone could see the Center was the weak link, at mid season Steno said Myers was playing the best ball of his career. Not in the run game! He'd whiff or flat out run past his targets and out of the play...certainly not hunters like Jenks, Tom, or Kraft.

I am surprised Morgan still plays tentatively, like a wide-eyed rookie. What have Stenovich and Butkus been working on?

More musical chairs with Rhyan at RG or LT coming? Why can't they make up their mind who belongs with the Best Five? What other NFL teams rotate the OL? Nijman vs Walker, Rhyan vs Runyan, Rhyan vs Morgan...all season long. Status quo again?

Stenavich has an odd affinity for really tall O-linemen (Telfort, C. Jones and a third guy I can't remember right now), none of whom have worked out. I think he needs to move on from all of them.

With Glover out for the season now due to upcoming surgery needed to correct a torn latismus dorsi or “lat” (large, flat muscle under back and sides) we now look pretty thin. It would not shock me if we acquire a depth T before the season. Behind Tom is Belton and he doesn’t look ready (high upside but lots of technical improvements needed) and Telfort.

Ironically after your comment, Caleb Jones is available ( the other one you forgot, Luke Tenuta, is currently with the Colts). While maybe not a great solution, Jones looked better than Telfort at T. At least until cut downs options are limited I suspect, but the only other listed T on our 90 is Brant Banks. How much faith do they have in him at this point? Unless more than they seem to, we need more options.

Tenuta! Thank you. Your memory works better than mine.

There have to be better options than Caleb Jones for the ninth OL. I hope Gute waits until cut down time and can find someone better. The days of Telfort, Jones et al need to be in the rearview mirror.

I’m looking forward to seeing Brinson and Stackhouse in a true competitive arena. It’s hard for bigger inside DL to shine absent live play (not just “full” contact no tackling). It tends to flatter the lighter speed penetrator types, few of whom typically make an impact.

Looking forward to seeing what Brinson can bring in the way of disruption and penetration when strength through contact is relevant and to see Stackhouse can make a difference to those around him with his block eating and anchor.

You mention Sorrell. He’s a DE that wins with hands and motor as much if not more than pure athleticism. Like the DTs above, he’s one I did not expect too much from until the gloves are off as a result.

We are finally approaching the time when the big, strong and physical get an opportunity to really shine unrestrained by camp practice limitations that work against them.

I am also really looking forward to watching Brinson and Stackhouse. As well as Sorrell. Until you get into the games you really don't know what you have in the DL. This is where I want to see Brinson and Stackhouse emerge. We needed improved depth on the defensive front. And those 3 guys could play a vital part for our defense this year!

Watching Family Night gave me a new appreciation for those people who watch practice and report what happens. I couldn't tell what was going on half the time. Sometimes it's hard to tell who's on the field. (Is that #88? 89? 85?) Then there are the running plays, where you can't tell if the RB was "tackled" for a 4-yard loss or if he actually slipped away for a 10-yard gain. I suppose the reporters just don't mention the plays where it's hard to tell what happened.

The broadcast was less annoying than it has been in the past. Larry and Wayne interviewed Brian Gutekunst, which was good because he's the guy who brought all these players together, but then they interviewed some guy named John Anderson, who apparently was NOT the former Packer linebacker. He was a retired ESPN anchor who had no connection to the Packers as far as I could tell. Maybe he was a last-minute replacement for an interviewee who could not make it. Larry and Wayne just shot the breeze with this guy and ignored the action on the field. No major complaints other than that though. The coverage was hit-or-miss, but it's only Family Night.

Like Al, I was hoping for a sharper performance from Jordan Love. Sounds like he's played great at times during training camp, and at other times his accuracy has not been so good. We'll just have to wait till the regular season starts to see how he does.

It can be hard to see the numbers, that is for sure. I think it shows up in my roundups when the tweet says something like "Gary had a strong rush" as that is phrased that way because Herman/Wood who ever did not get the number of the player Gary beat. Knowing who beat whom is so, so important. LVN beating Morgan is not the same as LVN beating Tom or Jenkins.

I find that binoculars are too cumbersome and confine one's view too much. Sometimes I use a small monocular telescope since it fits in my pocket and it can help me pick up a number or focus on any player I happen to have a particular interest in.

I do not multi-task well. Sometimes I try to watch everything in general but that is hard to do (t is a big field and the ones might be at the north end, the twos in the middle and maybe the kickers are at the south end. So, I often look for matchups in which I am interested. I will be at practice Thursday. I am interested in Belton for example, so if he matches up with Cox or Gary, I will exclusively watch that. Then, there are those 2-minute drills and the one on ones. They are pretty easy to focus on.

I once told the interviewer at a job interview that I don't multi-task well. That did not go well.

Some jobs require complete concentration on what you are doing, and others allow you to think and work on other things.

If you are trying to multitask while you're making a demand critical weld, it won't go well. If you're watching that welder and keeping an eye on an inexperienced crane operator at the same time, you might be able to save yours and the welder's life.

When you are consistent while doing it I will give it a pass. If your accuracy is sporadic than you need to work on the fundamentals. The comparison here of yours doesn't work. There is a list a mile long of failed QBs that threw off their backfoot thinking they could do what other HOF players did.

Favre has the All-Time Record for INTs with 336. Rodgers also had exceptional pocket presence, evasiveness and the best accuracy throwing on the move in NFL history. When Love has the time to set his feet, he should do so and avoid sailing passes.

Who made consistently accurate and strong throws off their back foot is the question.
The answer is nobody.
Favre has all time lead in interceptions and likely will never be surpassed.
Rogers self scouted and changed.
Mahomes does it when on the run and typically only in a desperate dump off.
NOBODY has made a successful career using this technique.
Fix it ASAP. MLF and Sean manion need to nip this in the bud. You can't move the chains if you don't complete short, contested passes.
GPG!

Oh yes he can. His first season as a starter was statistically very similar to Rodgers' first season and better than Favre's. Love did not progress like Rodgers did in his second season, but a lot of that was due to playing hurt and throwing to a bunch of butter-fingered receivers.

What matters, of course, is whether Love can be as good as Favre and Rodgers in their prime, and it is simply too early to tell if that will happen. It was unrealistic to expect Love to be as good in his first two seasons as Favre and Rodgers were in their prime.

As for Love not being "remotely" comparable to the top ten QBs in the league, he came in at around #12 last year if you go by stats. That's not far from the top ten.

Rodgers and Favre stepped straight back often or simply were on their back foot when they threw. Love has this really weird motion where he falls sideways and backward. There is a lot of sideways falloff. I think there is a qualitative difference in the liberties in footwork taken by AR/Favre and Love.

The Packers apparently just dropped their first depth chart of the season (available on ACP) and there were a couple of surprises. Hardman is listed as the reserve punt and kick returner with Reed and Nixon listed as the starters. If Hardman isn't the starting punt and/or kick returner, the case for him making the 53 drops pretty dramatically. He is just not that accomplished a receiver that he can push Heath and others aside if he isn't a major contributor on special teams.

Savion Williams was not listed among the top six WRs although that likely has more to do with injury than actual roster status.

Wilson was listed as the #2 RB with Lloyd and Brooks listed as reserves.

Morgan was listed as the #2 LT. Ryyan is the starting RG. It will be a little disappointing if Morgan is not starting somewhere.

Brooks and Wooden were listed ahead of Stackhouse and Brinson at DT. Not really a shock, but I wouldn't rest on my laurels if I was Wooden.

Hadden was listed as the second string CB ahead of Melton, KIng, Balletine, etc, etc. Hmmm........

I don't think these off-season depth charts mean anything once you get beyond the obvious starters. They are a bit mysterious. The coaches never endorse them. It seems like they are issued just as a matter of routine. Possibly the team is even trying to be deceptive with some of their choices, or they are at least trying not to reveal anything.

Hardman vs. Heath is a really interesting roster battle, assuming they keep six WRs. And I think Colby Wooden will have a hard time making the roster with both Brinson and Stackhouse breathing down his neck. You have to wonder how much upside Wooden has at this point. Karl Brooks has shown more and should be fine for this year.

I often wonder how the players react to these depth charts. You and I can both say they are relatively meaningless (and I definitely agree with you on that), but I suspect the players have a different view. Their livelihood is a stake and the Hardmans and Woodens of the world probably pay more attention to them than they should.

Maybe the players know the depth charts are nothing to worry about. But yeah, I would imagine they have an emotional reaction one way or another, even if it's against their better judgment. Some players probably read a lot of stuff on the Internet too. I remember Spalding Gray saying in one of his monologues that when he acted in a play, he read the reviews the next day, and they were devastating. When he mentioned it to another actor, they said you should never read the reviews. ("Don't empower those bastards!"--or something like that.) But it's hard to resist the urge to know what people are saying about you. I hope the players are at least smart enough not to read the comment sections!

Football players have pride and if they come into work one morning after leaving as a #2 and see they are now a #3....that should be a motivator to work more effectively and efficiently.

If it isn't, they are likely headed to #4...and on the cut list.

Every year at this time we get a depth chart that is the one from last year minus any departures and plus any big FAs or early draft picks. That’s what this is. Aside from the obvious locks that stay healthy, it’s usually a poor indication of anything by month end. That suits the Packers fine I suggest. No clues here to decipher but the ones that are so obvious there is no need to.

Family night was the first time I was able to see the 2025 Packers. I have seen and heard all the camp info, but for me to personally see the 25 Packers this was it.

Jordan Love - (it wasn't anything more than an average showing by Jordan Love. Accuracy (especially on longer throws) was an issue ). The deep ball was a bit off with Golden. That will come. Just timing and reps. Yesterday in practice the deep ball to Doubs was a thing of beauty.

Jordan Morgan as a left tackle has a long way to go - I'm not writing him off at LT. But it wasn't the best of showings.

Omar Brown is a future All-Pro - He was the star of the night.

Matthew Golden will finish the season firmly established as their WR1 - He has looked great. He will have a lot of rookie moments, but he has looked the part. Our WR room is going to be dynamic especially when Watson comes back.

Carrington Valentine - CB1. He has taken a step and is looking great!

Brandon McManus - What a difference a year makes. This time last year I am pretty sure we were on our 5th kicker by now.

Barryn Sorrell has some "juice" going after the quarterback - I can't wait to see Sorrell in preseason games. Seeing reports from camp it sounds like he has flashed.

I've been on that Carrington Valentine train since Gutekunst tapped him with Pick #232 in R7 in 2023. He was The #71 player in Athlon's Top 100 Prospects in their draft guide that year. Here's my draft notes on him:

CB Carrington Valentine - Kentucky (33rd CB taken. #137 Overall Daniel Jeremiah)
6-0 193 4.44 (72%) 39” vertical (85%) 128” broad (86%)

LENGTH, SPEED, AGGRESSION, TENACIOUS, MIRROR, FLUID, Changes direction on a dime. INSTINCTS. Very strong in zone coverage. Also +press-man. Exceptional athlete. Twitchy quick w track star long speed. Long arms to succeed in press-man coverage, AND heavy, solid zone experience. Reactive, fluid & sticks to WRs.

Sees routes develop and able to run with receivers. +drive mechanics in zone. Eager to jump slant routes. VERY COMPETITIVE. Takes completions personally. Innately driven and DB Coach’s dream. Led Kentucky in PDs with 17.

Works hard in RUN D.

STs >>> Regular on KR coverage, PR coverage and PR teams

Boundary CB in zone heavy scheme with enticing blend of tools/physicality perfect for NFL.

NEGATIVE: allows big plays +20 (8) Also needs consistency tackling in run game. Just needs to polish skills & technique both coverage & v. run.

Long, athletic, aggressive CB yet to reach ceiling as man cover, ball instincts and technique - all underdeveloped. Zone/Press corner projection.

--

The buzz on him falling all the way to R7 that year was because he was "too aggressive." OK then... I like him. Great fit on this Packers team, and I've been expecting him to grow into a very good starting boundary CB with the Packers. Gutekunst looks like he might have stole him. Highway robbery style.

On another note, it was good to see WR Savion Williams get some action and make a nice catch on a ball over the middle from Love. I think those two are really going to shine this season. He's one hella dynamic player.

Also good to see Belton at LT. I'm confident he'll be our starting LT moving forward.

And, yes. It was Family Night...

Trust me, Golden is going to be the #1 WR, and sooner rather than later. Doubs is going to be the X most of time with Golden split wide but off the line or in the slot. Golden can handle X if needed, I think.

LVN beating Morgan is good, but could just mean Morgan is not yet ready for prime time. When he beats one of the five starters, I will begin to believe.

I have been bitching and moaning about lesser players being favored over Valentine since last season.

Omar Brown has been mentions often by the media observers and Jersey Al adds his voice. Interesting. Omar Brown is listed 6th on the safety depth chart. Not sure they keep 6. It had Hadden as the 4th CB, Melton as 5th, King as 6th, Ballentine as 7th, and Robinson as 8th. I think the battle is intense. CB Gregory Junior got released after getting a pretty ample opportunity.

Valentine was the best coverage corner on this roster pretty clearly last year. Unfortunately he’s best at the man style one-on- one coverage Hafley rarely employs and he’s not good in run support. Those two things kept him off the field too much last year in my view, but not in the coverages Hafley employed. One has to say that they worked pretty well too: though we played relatively few high powered vertical passing offenses.

Valentine now has amply confirmed his coverage ability. He’s about to get a chance to show he can step up in run support and against bigger receivers. At least I hope he will, because if he does, Hafley is going to have to rethink playing time and tactical scheme choices and we will have a really exciting corner on our hand going forward. Will he step up? Valentine is as good in pass coverage as Walker is at pass pro. If either add noticeably to their capabilities in the run game then they become blue chip players in this league.

I like Jordan and think he is talented but Al is right, he doesn't 'self-scout' like Rodgers did.
Rodgers mastered his footwork, accuracy ,form, and spent every off-season refining additional aspects of his game such as his hitch, eye-game, accurate deep throw ,etc. As a result, Rodgers had earned the 'right' to throw off his back foot. He had the ability to throw accurately from any position (after years of practice).

Love does not have the drive for 'greatness' that Rodgers did.

This will be a huge season for Love, after this year the Pack will know for sure if they have another great one or another mediocre QB...no more excuses...

How the hell do you know what drives Jordan Love...or any other player for that matter?

Instead of claiming to know what goes on in player's heads, and what motivates them, maybe you should spend some time learning what a soft tissue injury is.

"Love does not have the drive for 'greatness' that Rodgers did."

Just how do you know that?

The evidence shows Rodgers failed in many big games of importance that would have better defined his greatness than a supposed "drive".

I could just as easily opine Rodgers did not have the drive for greatness that Tom Brady did.

Love is just getting started. So far, he seems incredibly dedicated to his work.

I like Valentine. And Nixon. Some people think we’d be better off if neither were starters, but if you have a pair of dependable, veteran corners, you’re probably ahead of half the teams in the league.

That was a fun read, Al, thanks. I had kind of a Jeff Foxworthy (you might be a red neck) rhythm with a Rolling Stones (but, I like it) mash-up going as I read it.

Regardless of what we could and couldn't see on the broadcast, that was a well-done event for families, both fans and Packers players/staff. A real tribute to the franchise.

It was only family night, but are the players somehow getting younger? I can't be getting older, right? RIGHT?

Do you like any band whose members were all born in 2000 or later?

Do you yell (or even think) "that's not music, turn it down!" (credit Bill Burr).

The internet says I don't like any artists in that category, but that might not be true. I appreciate many different genres, and try not to be close-minded with new artists. That said, I find myself avoiding outdoor shows because it irritates the living shit our of me to have to listen to people talk while the band is playing. STFU!

Deadhead here, so I spend a lot of time listening to shows from summer of 72, spring of 77, and on up into the 80s. I appreciate Kendrick Lamar, enjoy Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, and Maggie Rogers. Stones, Zeppelin, REM, Pearl Jam, SRV, Hendrix, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, James McMurtry, Jason Isbell. Love the music!

I guess I'm somewhere between get off of my cloud and get off my lawn.

The corner room is still lacking depth and starting-caliber talent no matter how the team/fans hype up Valentine and Nixon. Rushing Hobbs back from a meniscus repair is a signal.

The Packers don’t rush players back from injuries. In fact, quite the opposite. He’ll play when he’s ready.

What did you used to say when Aaron Jones was a young player and battling for carries with Jamaal Williams? "Just give him (Jones) the damn ball!"... Well, I say we do the same thing with Golden--and watch him take over the receiving corps by season's end.

It's good that Valentine is the real deal because we'll need him to be with little proven depth at the position. At least we re-signed Ballentine, so that gives us a little security blanket should the need arise.

@TC-Still need to diss me?

I can tell that Love is not on Rodger's level because this is his 6th year and he still has bad footwork which likely affects his accuracy. Why is he unable to throw an accurate deep ball after 6 years?
He should have perfected his accuracy during the off-season. I gave him many excuses last year as I thought he was injured (he was), but there are no more excuses. He could have learned that skill and others by watching and learning from Rodgers and Clements. He had every opportunity.

"Love does not have the drive for 'greatness' that Rodgers did."

I know you like to fancy yourself as someone who is as knowledgeable as NFL level coaches, front office personnel, and medical staff. You're not. You're just a fan on a fan website, just like the rest of us. You're not privy to any private, secretive goings-on at 1265 any more than anyone else on here, no matter how many times you pretend you are.

Jordan Love is not Aaron Rodgers. Constantly comparing them is foolish and a waste of time. The odds of back to back to back HOF QBs would be beyond rare. How about letting Jordan Love be Jordan Love. Will he be a generational talent like Rodgers? Probably not. Will he end up an above average NFL QB competing for rings? We'll see. But questioning his motivation and drive is a cheap shot. Give it a break.

Ballentine was cut by the lowly Colts-his return offers little comfort and reminds me of the return of Getsy and Hackett-major underwhelm. There are so many smart & up-and-comer coaches in the NFL universe and MLF brings in more mediocrity. Yes, it more than annoys me. I heard MLF chewing out Getsy the other day for his lackluster effort.

Agree that it was a bad sign that Tom Clement left without seeing a significant shift in Love's game. I think they should have waited a year before giving him that big contract...

Clements is 72 years old and was on the verge of retirement for a couple of years. I wouldn't read anything into it.

Yes he was...Tom retired in early 2021 and took a year off. Then the Packers coaxed him back but I would expect it was a year to year arrangement.
