Kirk Barton's NFL Odyssey Heads to the Rockies

To say that offensive lineman Kirk Barton, a seventh-round pick out of Ohio State by the Chicago Bears in 2008, has been around would be an understatement.

Barton made the Bears' 53-man roster in '08, but was waived after Week 1. Since then, Barton has been with the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, went back to Miami, was signed to the Cincinnati Bengals active roster, where he'd ultimately finish his rookie season on injured reserve.

Waived by the Bengals after the 2009 NFL Draft, Barton joined the Detroit Lions last off-season, but was waived midway through training camp. Last November, Barton joined the 49ers' practice squad, but had found his way back to the Lions this off-season.

Detroit waived Barton on Tuesday, and the 6-5, 310-pounder has found a new NFL home, as the Denver Broncos claimed him off waivers today.

Barton is signed through 2011, with league minimum base salaries.
