The Good: Valentine’s interception and Brooks recovering his fumble.
The Bad: MLF not kicking the FG in the 2nd quarter. The Packers playing like they didn’t need the game for 3 1/2 quarters.
The Ugly: Penalties and dropped passes. The neutral zone infraction on Cooper that gave the Vikings 3 points after they missed their FG attempt.

Good - unfortunately the only good real good I saw was all over the talent of the Vikings. They are the only team that I think matches up with the talent of the Chiefs and Mahomes has it over Darnold in the end. I see a deep run for them after they take Detroit to the woodshed next week.
Ugly - route running and play calling. Why do you have routes were the receivers go 20 to 25 yards down the field when the pass rush is up to your ass hole. No one over the middle, no short passes, no screen passes, no running backs out of the back field for passes. They did nothing to hinder the pass rush. This is on the coaches.
Bad - Pass defense again for the 8th year in a row or longer, cant play man and their phony zone is how teams like the Vikes thrive. everyone was open and funny, they caught everything too Mr Reed.

Zero Pass Rush by those who are paid multi-millions per year and they get away with it---one of them only played 25% of the game. He probably had a boo-boo.
Ditto to the other 'no-show' multi-millionaire. Sick and tired of all 3 of them.

Need to be careful I take a weekly beating for being honest about our supposed superstars that tend to take games off. R Gary ton of salary in him is at the game but really not a difference maker like he is paid. JA hope someone sends out mssing persons on him, 7 years in league 1 season 18' played all the games. Paid handsomely for one good season. I could see if he was a real physical corner like Nixon who plays tough in there every game, game changer as corner no, but can't complain about effort. Stephone Gilmore was out there yesterday played for numerous teams did a good job on Doubs overall he gets it, think GB needs to take a look at vet CB like Patrick Peterson maybe something left in the tank ther eis time. Without pass rush even Herb Adderley would look average. Two weeks for the superstars to get the sand out of the crevices

Agree 100%… why are you paying these guys who sit on the sidelines… the QB… too…. Pay these guys to play and learn!!! If they can’t… BENCH THEIR ASSES!!!

Good: The comeback that came thisclose to winning.
Bad: Coaching cost us the game. MLF's not taking the 3 and routinely calling plays that have failed but trying them again (What happened to his creativity?); and Hafley putting little pressure on the QB (If we are going to get burned at least make the QB pay for it). Both coaches go to bed tonight without their supper. They didn't earn it. Coaching shouldn't cost a team wins.
Ugly: I could pile on with the complaints about fumbling, stupid penalties, and drops; but the Ugly award goes to the coaches...again! It's at the end of the season and we are routinely seeing the same mistakes. If a player screws up, what's a great coach do? He makes the player learn the hard way! If a receiver has the drops, make him use the jugs until he hands are bleeding. If a player makes stupid penalties, make him do the same play 10x correctly. During the game, pull the player for a play or two and have him watch how it's done correctly. Do something coaches!

Taking a hopeful road...
Good - maybe we needed a kick in the teeth to get our head straight and focused for the Bears and playoffs.
Bad - bad and stupid plays that should not happen at the end of the season
Ugly - MLF that yet again didn't get the team mentally prepared. When does he get put on the hot seat?
Ugly2 - the realization that we can't play man coverage and we can't get enough pressure with 4 and we (almost) NEVER seem to adjust fast enough to beat a good team.

The Bad: First round defensive lineman who are well-below average.
The Good: Cooper---The only star playing on the defense that was a Packer's draft pick. Ok, that last part is sort of a bad.
The Ugly: The lack of short to mid-distance routes either run by Lafleur, or thrown to by Love. Not sure who is to blame for this but it is a huge problem.

The bad. 1) To no one's surprise the Packers started off running Jacobs. The offense played right into the hands of the Vikings who absolutely knew that is what the Packers would do. To be specific: the Packers were way too predictable. This went on for 3 and a half quarters. By then it was too little too late and the Vikings won yet another close one. They played to win while we played not to lose. It is becoming a pattern when we play good teams. This game was important because we learned who are the contenders and who are the pretenders.
Attitude is important in the playoffs! There is still time and we are still the youngest team in the league.
It tain't over till it's over.

Bad COACHING …you say???!!!

December 30, 2024 at 06:50 am
good: Cooper
bad: zero pass rush from front four, and a poorly coached team especially on offense
ugly: Love's routine inability to make precise routine throws which then are charged as drops

Well, we found out just how good the Packers are: not good enough.
And Love, again. . . " could be a winning hand that leads a team into the future or a siren's song of erratic play and unfulfilled potential. "
Worse yet is the continuing thought that the real winning quarterback is possibly sitting on the sidelines in the form of Malik Willis.

He’s tended to the soft side in most of his appearances this year… preseason game practice maybe???

The Good: Errigin Cooper (sorry spellin) as the coach in Remember The Titans said. "we got ourselves a football player" young, fast, fearless, great tackler, instinctive. This guy is full throttle all the time. also they didn't quit down 17 could have rolled over.
Bad: No pressure on QB, way too much time to go thru his reads, DB's can only cover so long. Still waiting for Gary to really be THAT guy, just not the pass rusher everyone touts him to be. DL was very average yesterday rushing defense needs to be more involved. Aaron Jones looked comfortable. Jacobs ball security little concerning as well drive killer.
Ugly: Playcalling is terrible, 3rd and short no quick passing game ? TE right over the middle. Heavy rush from Vikes had Lafleur scratching his head. Love does not seem to see guys underneath 10-12 yards with that pressure the downfield completions take too long. They finally adjusted but too late. Brady said it well, its a chess match. MLF didn't get the memo.
Really Ugly:

The Good: Edgerin Cooper
The Bad: Love''s inaccurate passing and throwing off his back foot. Never a threat to run the football. He could be in the ugly.
The Ugly: Always playing one half of football. In this case it was one quarter. LaFleurs lame game plans.

Good: Edge Cooper making plays all over the place. Carrington Valentine with a nice INT. Karl Brooks with a nice sack of Darnold. Brooks did what no other Packer DL/Pass rusher, could do. The team did not quit on itself. Malik Heath with a TD.
Bad: Dropped passes that hit receivers in the hands. Jacobs fumble. Going for it on 4th down when a FG would have put points on the board. Lack of plays for Kraft and Musgrave. Kraft had 3 targets. Musgrave had 1. OL protection for Love fell apart.
Ugly: Stupid play calls. Penalty on Cooper, that I could not see, gave MN another chance to make a FG, after their kicker doinked the 1st attempt. It should have been Packers ball and no vikings points there. Listening to Brady tell us how MN is an elite team. Made me sick, a little.

The good? : the Vikings got lazy and saved us from total embarrassment
The bad: MLFs preparedness, the defense, the drops, penalties.
The ugly.. the way they got pushed around. It was like we didn’t belong on the field with Minnesota until they let up on the gas..
Even uglier: this happens every year. It used to be just SF that pushed GB around..
now it’s Philly ,Detroit , Minnesota . And keep in mind how we were dominated in every facet by Tampa last year.
This is a soft team. I don’t want to hear MLF say they kept fighting. Truth is Minnesota called off the dogs. There is a difference.

The Good---Jacobs for another game getting those tough yards even when blocking not there.
The Bad--- Also Jacobs. Nagler's right (for once) that the fumble let the air out of the balloon during that 1st drive.
Would've been nice to cash that in for some points right off the bat. (mixed metaphor, sorry)
The Ugly --- Again, it might not have changed a thing, but the end of the 1st half was inexcusable. First we got the ball back at @:2:16 to go (with THREE TOs+ 2-min.) and went out so fast that the Vike's still had !:26. Then, the defense got the stop and forced the 55 yarder. Kid missed again. I was thinking "Whew"---dodged that bullet. Then the off-sides. 3 points. Look, I know this only put us down 12-3 and the Minn TD on first drive of the 2nd half was what finished us off, but you CANNOT bungle like that. A TOTAL Total Cluster.

Offense seemed weird. No motions, no jet sweeps, no check downs to Kraft or Jacobs, and Jacob's was taking chunks but yet we moved away from running the ball. The play action was not there despite effective running. Seemed like they put out a very vanilla offensive plan. Whole game seemed off. Where is the pass rush? We were rushing 3 or 4, nothing tricky, just run into the guy in front. Lots of 6 to 7 OL vs 4 DT/ DE. And while not the reason for the loss, lots of questionable officiating which is expected at the bird killer stadium. Go Pack Go!

The Good : Cooper again playing at all-pro level
Valentine: interception and looked like he covered well
Brooks: recovered fumble ( heads up ) had some pressures/sack?
1st quarter Packers played well 3-0
The Bad : Off line as a whole ... Z Tom ... ( beaten like a rented mule )
Love and his famous right before halftime hero ball when they only needed 5 yards
Jacobs fumble in 1st quarter so huge at the start of big game
Dropped passes ( Vikings caught everything
The Ugly Giving the Vikings the extra field goal attempt before Halftime
dropping crucial passes on third and forth downs
In the end Sam Darnold proved to be a far superior quarterback than JLove, S Darnolds
footwork, going through his progressions, reading the field, and most importantly his accuracy
reminded me of Rodgers in his youth days. It is starting to appear that the Packers no longer
have the QB advantage that they enjoyed for the last three decades .......

All I can say is this latest game, the results, the causes and the probable future based on all the evidence at hand indicates how this season will end. A team that can't put together 4 quarters of football against a Playoff Quality team is destined for an early couch - Mike Lafleur's words not mine. He understands the problems and the causes for failure but has zero clue apparently of how to overcome these in January, a fantastic December coach. Hopefully there will be an epiphany after we beat the Bears next week but I see no differences in performances, play calling or personnel to differentiate this club from many other of our squads that had disappointments in big games to end the season in the last 14 years.
