Player Reps: No Vote Until At Least Monday

The former union will not take any action on the owners' proposals until after the weekend.

When NFL owners ratified their proposal for a settlement with their players, they indicated the players side had until Tuesday to accept their terms or they would start subtracting substantial amounts of money from the offer.

It would seem the players will take up nearly all their allotted time to make a decision.

Adam Schefter reports that the players representatives for the NFL's 32 teams sent emails to their respective teammates today indicating that no action would be taken today or over the weekend.

From Schefter's Twitter account:

Player reps emailed a letter to players saying, "We will meet again Monday to discuss our options and the direction we want to go."

I tend to agree with Mike Freeman's take here:

The players don't really need that much time to sort through the offer. They already have, I'm told. The issues remaining can be solved fairly easily and quickly if they wanted. The players are simply taking their sweet time just because they can.

I think the players, who feel like the owners pulled out the rug from under them, now want the owners to sweat a little.

The players have a chance to squeeze the owners and are taking full advantage - I still think this gets done in the next five days.

One thing this does do is blow up the timeline the NFL put out there late yesterday. And it also makes the possibility of training camps being delayed very, very real.

Both parties have really showcased how petty they can be throughout this ordeal. I've lost respect for the NFL, the owners, and the players.

Now I know that I hate these people. And they are the players.

I'm looking forward to the season, but be this known:

I will go to no live game and spend $$$ at said event.

I will not buy any NFL/Packers product.

And I will not worry about a player when he is carted off the field (not that they would or should care).

I feel obligated to, once again, make my same old tired proclamation: The owners and players both suck equally.
