As I've stated all offseason. The personnel on DL is good enough to stop the run. But they have to play w/ more gap discipline to improve the run D. They didn't really use any gap discipline last year, they basically played the run on the way to the QB. If they play w/ more gap discipline there is likely to be a corresponding decrease in pass rushing, since the rushers have to take an extra split second to make sure a run isn't coming. There is a tradeoff that comes with more gap discipline!

You forgot pad level. Gap discipline and pad level will fix the run D, no scheme or personnel changes needed after the NFCCG.

We will find out right away if they can stop the run. Detroit has been giving the Pack fits of late and Vikings and Saints have strong run game. I will be interested what a Kirksey can do. Gary and Z Smith could see some inside action or schemed on the DL. These two are big dudes so they can hold their own. I don’t have much confidence in the DL other than Clark. I’m disappointed they didn’t get Clark so help.

I hope to be surprised which is what it will be after these three games.

IMHO, Gutey, who is always working to improve the roster is going to secure someone new to bolster the RT position and the ILB room. And a far reaching prediction: if GB doesn't get a minimum 10 wins out of this weird season, and the D didn't get any better, i think MLF may just cut Pettine for next year. I'm so weary of so many saying GB winning 13 last year was a fluke. It thought it was brilliant and so refreshing to know we now have a HC who can manage quite well in the closing minutes of tight games. Something that wasn't MM's forte.
