Just cut AJ Dillon already (or injury settlement). Vic Ketchman was right: Dillon is an average back who is slow.

AJ Dillon: 3.4 yards/carry (2023)
Patrick Taylor: 4.4 yards/carry (2023)
Aaron Jones: 4.6 yards/carry (2023)
*Josh Jacobs: 4.4 yards/carry (*2024)
Emanuel Wilson: 6.1 yards/carry (2023)
*MarShawn Lloyd: 7.1 yards/carry (*college 2023)

Who cares when they cut him? He's on IR and his career is most likely over. Chill.

I agree. That repeating cut/paste post is getting tired and old. We get the point! Already!

But I am interested since little seems to be talked about it. When are we going to see some Marshawn Lloyd on the field of play?

At about 16 minutes and 30 seconds:

Cheesehead TV commenter:

Ry Ry: still have faith in LVN but would be nice to have Gonzalez at corner

Aaron Nagler: at 16 minutes and 33 seconds:

It would and it would be great if I was a billionaire man I don't understand how people kind of go through life like that like and I'm not trying to pick on you Ry Ry but it's like man the hit rate in the draft is low generally like yes you have good classes at times and certainly the Packers have had a number of really good classes these past couple years but man you know if you're batting 300 maybe even 350 you're doing well in the draft if you're finding a handful of starters and maybe some glue guys some you know rotational pieces that's a good draft class and again these last couple draft classes have been pretty damn good now has Brian had some really poor draft classes no question about it absolutely you know who else has literally every single GM in the league it's part of the gig it's baked in the process so to
speak you know yes could there would it be nice to have Terry McLaurin rather than now the ghost of Jay sternberger no question about it but man at some point you're making moves you're trying to make selections you're doing things with all this information that we don't have you know it's like second guess in drafts is just I don't know man the Fool's errand I mean you have at it have fun I know that's what everyone does it's just Life's too short man like you you sit there do you ever sit there when uh you know let's say back in the day Greg Jennings makes a play and go well thank God we didn't draft Chad Jackson Who every Packers Fan wanted heading into that draft like no you know you just enjoy Greg Jennings doing his thing I just uh yeah the second guessing of the draft is just boring to me

Aaron,

“Boring” to you.

Really?

It is good that You Tube has the transcript function so listeners and read and absorb what you are saying in these daily podcasts and respond.

It seems that you believe it is ok for Cheesehead TV and its writers, listeners and readers to analyze, criticize and compare the performance of players in great detail with one another.

And it is also ok for Cheesehead TV and its writers, readers and commenters to analyze, criticize and compare the performances of coaches in great detail with one another.

But when it comes to analyzing, comparing and critiquing and rating the performance of the 32 general managers - comparing the draft picks they bring in, the free agents they sign, the contracts they do not renew, the contract they do renew, the players they release and their win loss records and whether they have created a solid all around team or if players that preceded their arrival as GM are responsible for any success they had , you deem that not worthwhile or boring – I wonder why?

I understand why Cheesehead TV and other sport media operation would want to be friendliest of all with the GM and write and say what that GM and Executive Suite wants them to say in order to maintain access to the players and lockeroom and management interviews, etc. etc, but it is no more “boring” analyzing, critiquing, comparing and rating General Managers than it is doing the same with players and coaches.

I would love to see Cheeshead TV to do a deep dive and study and write up an analysis of each of the 32 NFL teams general managers and grade them.

For instance would the Packers have had a 13-3, 13-3, 13-4 team without Davante Adams, Aaron Jones Aaron Rodgers, Mason Crosby, David Bakhtiari, Kenny Clark, Mercedes Lewis, Corey Linsley, Brian Bulaga all players that preceded Gutekunst’s arrival as GM?

Gutekunst’s new QB is now Jordan Love who is 13 wins and 13 losses as a starter and leads the NFL in interceptions, The only major losses to the Packers are some of the players noted above a couple future NFL Hall of Famers and other Packer Hall of Famers and Gutey has added some young new pieces so why is Gute’s centerpiece – who led all of college football in interceptions – now leading the NFL in interceptions and having such a hard time maintaining a winning record.?

The injuries are relatively minor, the Knee MCL Grade 2 Sprain is the same Knee MCL Grade 2 Sprain that Rodgers had when he was carted off the field before have and came back in the 2nd half to rally the Packers from a 20-0 deficit, Packers winning 24-23. Rodgers played through it and did not miss a game.

Could the problems simply be that Gutekunst is not as competent and as good a judge of talent than other General Managers in the league – some whom actually played the game and went to and won Super Bowls?

It would be interesting if Cheese Head TV would do a detached deep analytical dive and study and rate the 32 General Managers against one another.

Interesting video.

Commenter at 6 minutes and 18 seconds

Aaron Nagler Oh that's a good question right.

Do you prioritize signing first at this point Watson or Romeo. Oh that's tough One.

That's a tough one I think you look at the production you would probably say Romeo right but man Watson's size speed and athleticism, etc. is still extremely special and I do think the kid is played extremely well this year the looks haven't come his way targets and receptions overall because of lack of targets just haven't really materialized

Aaron a smart GM knows that of all positions chemistry and trust between receivers and QB is critical, so you sign both Watson and Doubs, but this below I think quite clearly shows why Watson is not in the highlights as he was weekly at the end of 2022:

Take a look at these statistical facts and comparison:

Rodgers in 2022 – playing with a broken thumb on his throwing hand for the last 13 games - threw to Watson 62 times for 38 completions - a 61.3% completion rate with 508 yards, 6 touchdowns and 1 interception for a passer rating of 112.8.

Jordan in 2023 threw to Watson 53 times for 28 completions - a 52.8% completion rate with 422 yards, with 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions for a passer rating of 71.4

Jordan in 2024 has thrown to Watson 25 times for 14 completions - a 56% completion rate – for 166 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions for a passer rating of 69.7.

In the one full game that Malik Willis played with Christian Watson - 2 pass attempts, 2 completions, 67 yards, 0 Tds, 0 Int. passer rating 118.7. Small sample size, but an indication of what can be.

Watson is a great receiver and game breaker.
The only variable that has changed since Rodgers was throwing to him in 2022 is the quarterback.

Rodgers – with a broken thumb - had Watson – as a rookie - for 8 games in 2022 – and in just 8 games produced 28 completions, 6 touchdowns, just 1 interception and most of the 508 yards. If Rodgers had Watson – as he did in 2022 – Watson would have 35 completions and 7 TDs by now and 80 receptions and 15 TDs by the end of the season – at least.

All the Packer receivers’ numbers would be much better with situationally aware and accurate quarterback.

With Jordan throwing, Watson – and all the Packers receivers – are just as likely to end up on a stretcher or in the hospital than In the end zone.

Jordan has no significant injury - all NFL QBs play through sprains and strains.
Malik would do much better than a perfectly healthy Jordan Love and increase the Packers chances of winning.
Jordan does not have the arm strength and touch and grasp of space and time to be able to execute intermediate and long passes accurately on a consistent basis.

Evidence of this is Christian Watson's passer rating and results with Aaron Rodgers throwing to Watson vs. passer rating with Jordan throwing to Watson.

The same thing happened to Davante Adams, when you get time examine Davante Adams Advanced receiving stats with Rodgers in 2020-21 and 2021-22 and then look at Davante's numbers with Derek Carr in 2022-23 and Aiden O'Connell and Jimmy Garoppolo in 2023.

Here is a quick summary:

2020-21 with Rodgers, 149 Targets, 115 Catches, 77% catch rate, Passer Rating 136, 3 interceptions, TDs 18

2021-22 with Rodgers 155 Targets 117 Catches, 75% catch rate, Passer Rating 124, 3 interceptions TDs 11

2022-23 with Derek Carr,180 Targets 100 Catches, 55.5% catch rate, 95,5 Passer Rating, 6 interceptions TDs 14

2023-24 with Aidan O'Connell and Jimmy Garoppolo Targets 175 Catches 103, catch rate 58.8%, Passer Rating, 79.3, 6 interceptions TDs 8

You can see that Davante's catch rate drops dramatically, interceptions double, and and passer rating falls off the cliff.

An accurate QB makes all the difference in the world for a receiver.

What receiver wants to at risk of going to the hospital several times a game because the QB makes ridiculous throws into traffic?

You should not have to be gymnast to catch your QB's throws.

""You should not have to be gymnast to catch your QB's throws.""

Brevity is the soul of clarity, amigo. I agree you shouldn't have to be a gymnast....although most receivers, especially the good ones, ARE very athletic. And all things being equal, I'd consider it a big plus, but it's not as important as being able to stay healthy, learn, practice, get your guy blocked, and above all....CatchTheFrickinBall. Easy ones, hard ones, nearly impossible ones. You know what you call a big, fast, WR that has unreliable hands? A disappointment.

If I understand you correctly, you're asking me to believe that Jordan Love doesn't have a 'good enough' arm for the NFL,or the Packers:

""Jordan does not have the arm strength and touch and grasp of space and time to be able to execute intermediate and long passes accurately on a consistent basis."""

There's a lot of ways of measuring a QB, and completion percentage/accuracy is one. I prefer looking at their TDs...because that's what I want from a QB...and turnovers.

Last year, the Packers were among the best in the league in both categories, and Jordan Love was the QB then, too. And now he's not 'good enough'? This year, even with all the turnover problems and dropped passes, he's still thrown 15 TDs. in 7 games.

Here's the beauty of the NFL. Next week, it's going to be the Packers and the Bears fighting it out in the cold for survival. That's just exactly the way it should be. I mean, either we're a playoff team or we're not, either we're a contender or not. A loss to Chicago, following home losses to Detroit and Minnesota, is going to mean that we aren't. And then that will become part of the Murphy ending......that his last team didn't make the playoffs, and the path they had followed led to last place.

I don't think that'll happen, but we're going to find out.
