Packers place Dean Lowry on injured reserve
The team also signed WR Bo Melton off the Seahawks practice squad.
By PackerAaron

The Green Bay Packers announced Tuesday afternoon that they have placed defensive lineman Dean Lowry on injured reserve. Lowry left Sunday's win over the Dolphins with a calf injury. The Northwestern product had played in 101 straight games for the Packers.
Look for rookie Devonte Wyatt to see his workload increase after his promising showing in Miami in place of Lowry.
The team also announced they have signed rookie wide receiver Bo Melton to the active roster off of Seattle's practice squad. He was a seventh round pick for Seattle in this year's draft out of Rutgers.
Green Bay also released OLB Tipa Galeai from injured reserve.

I know #94 was getting quite a bit of (Roberta) flack from some. I appreciated his effort. In many ways, I viewed him as the ACR on defense. But, with less cost to the organization.
What do I know....

They could always sign Tyler Lancaster and not skip a beat from having Lowry play an unjustified large proportion of snaps. As for the OL, It takes an injury for the coaching staff to finally make the correct personnel on the field that's been obvious for most of the season. Nathaniel Hackett didn't even make it a full season as the Broncos head coach. At least the Broncos can smell shit when they walk in it. The Packers need to clean house on the coaching side one of these "last dance" seasons.

I wish the man a speedy recovery. But this could be a blessing in disguise.

Who said Christmas is only once a year. See ya Lowry. Didn't want him to get hurt but he sucks and was taking snaps away from the young guys.

Don’t like to see a guy go down with an injury but Lowry hasn’t really been that effective. That is probably an understatement.
This is a good time to see Devonte Wyatt and where he stands in his development. As a First Round pick, he needs to step up and get the job done. If he can’t we need to know as we will soon be facing the off-season with many questions. Would be nice if Wyatt is one of the “answers”.

*I am all in as long as the Packers have a chance to get into the playoffs. Kind of ironic that you could replace Lowry with Rodgers and Wyatt with Love. Your statement would still make sense. At least in my world.

Lowry should only be playing as a 4-tech (3-4 DE), not as a 3-tech in a nickel package. He's too slim for that. Now we get more Wyatt, Slaton, and I'd even like to see Jonathan Ford too.

Garbage can full of dirt? Seems like a reasonable replacement.

I'm happy that people won't have to toss trash at Lowry anymore because they don't realize all the little, unseen things that he's doing. He'll go elsewhere next year and draw a good paycheck from somebody who understands what he brings to the table. I wish him the best.

Frankly, I'm intrigued with the possibilities with Bo Melton next year with that 3.4 speed he is even faster than Watson. Young as a rookie and ubber fast what is his upside? What is his potential for growth & development?
Everyone comes into the NFL as the Superstar player at every level they have been at along the way. Now you find out you are no more special than the next guy. Just maybe being placed on the Hawks practice squad and having the Packers picked him up was a slap in his face putting a big old chip (aka Aaron Rodgers) on his shoulder. This was an aggressive and bold move by Gutey who is looking to build and improve next years WR corps. Like it!

Similar vertical compared to Watson, as well. He was a guy I was hoping the Pack would snag in the 7th. They went with Carpenter for sp teams. Melton can be a gunner and a returner. His hands are not as large as most WRs, but he did damage to the Badgers when he was at Rutgers.

Jannes,
Believe the Packers early this year, or during camp had a WR they let go who was just about as fast. Do you recall who that was? Obviously, speed alone doesn't make a player but it sure as hell helps. Be nice to see Mell join the your WR group and all four rookies, Watson, Toure, Doubs, and Melton develop into a very good young group of WR's together for many years. Gutey...go get a TE this draft that can grow with these young WR's.

MVS had some of the biggest hands in the history of the NFL for WR's but didn't seem to make a huge difference. I say.....Mo needs to get 'stickier' gloves. :)
