Lions-Packers will be on Sunday Night Football

The teams will play the season's final regular season game at Lambeau Field.

The NFL's regular season will conclude with #Game272, Detroit at Green Bay on Sunday Night Football on NBC, the league announced earlier this afternoon.

The Packers must win the game to earn the NFC's No. 7 seed for the playoffs.

The game will be broadcast on NBC. The game will also be available on the Packers Radio Network, made up of 50 stations in six states. A full list of stations is available here.

The Lions' playoff fate hinges on this game and the result of the Rams-Seahawks game earlier Sunday. If the Seahawks win, the Lions will be eliminated before the kickoff at Lambeau Field, and Seattle would earn the last playoff spot if Detroit beats Green Bay. If the Seahawks lose, the Packers-Lions game becomes a de facto playoff game, with the winner getting the No. 7 seed and the loser's season ending.

Had a feeling...Good deal. Will be even colder at night and just might cause Goff some issues.

Good point...and the reason Gutey drafted AJ, AJD, and OL, TEs, and WRs who can run block when the weather gets cold and the field gets slick.

And pressure Goff early and often in passing downs. Campbell and Walker are playing well...and so is McDuffie who got the nod over Barnes and did not disappoint with 8 tackles yesterday. The front 7 is playing a solid pass D pressure game which thankfully Barry is finally embracing. I think Walker is a secret weapon as a pass rusher...so blasted quick and strong to get by slower lineman.

The Packer D has to be more disciplined against the Screen game. D'Andre Swift is a Jones clone, but faster. Campbell is now leading his squad; setting assignments and keeping Walker focused.

"Campbell is now leading his squad; setting assignments and keeping Walker focused."

And, wasn't that a great sight to see against MN! Your question from a couple of weeks ago was answered; Campbell is the leader of this D.

The Lions O-Line is much better than the Vikings, at least IMO. But I agree, the front 7 has played well, especially these last 6 quarters against REALLY good offenses. I'd like to see Walker blitz more too. I'd love to see some of the Mike Zimmer type A-Gap blitz's using Walker. That's where Walker could really excel IMO.

Good catch on McDuffie too. I thought he played pretty well too.

Yes. Have you notice that when they do send Walker it's usually from the edge? Wonder why they don't send him up the middle more? Could also keep the QB from slipping up the middle like happened Sunday. Oh wait! I just opened up another coaching rant conversation, didn't I?

Oh boy...you like theater? This is going to be fun.

It seems like 40 years ago, they were 4-8. This is the beauty of the game: so much at stake. Gonna make a run to Kwik Trip to have oat sodaz and snacks and veggies on hand. The L-Z Boy (and the recliner) won't be able to be still. Kinda like those moving plastic football players on the vibrating gridiron board.

Bring it!

Pantz, we don't have try too hard to figure out your age bracket. At least those of us who experienced the vibrating gridiron board and the little felt football : )

Hey Maine, there may be snow on the rooftop but there is still a FIRE raging in the furnace...

It's amazing how one can move the line of scrimmage with a finger strategically placed in the corner and raising the board just enough. :D

Pantz, I had a feeling you knew the key to winning championships. Now if you could teach MLF how to strategically place his finger on the board, it would be much appreciated ; )

Good point didn't think of that. I would hate to play an angry team that has nothing to lose and wants to spoil your life.

I’m not sure which to root for because either way the Lions are going to want to beat the crap out of the Packers. Division rival and playing to get better with a Coach who trains them to “bite kneecaps”. They will either be pissed Seattle won or playing to get into the playoffs. Either way, I think they will be motivated to beat us.

Well, more drama for Rodgers. Last game in the 2022 season which was pedestrian for him. Win this game and the season will be saved.

I just do not want the drama game in primetime to influence him to put on a show. Let AJ, AJD and the O line put on a show and keep the potent lions O and porous Packer D off the field. Control the TOP, get first downs, run more plays and score.

Then, when a rested D is on the field, turn the playmakers lose and force turnovers if possible. Goff is very secure with the ball and is having a career year. Keep him a spectator.

L-Plain you are you and Swisch is Swisch. Personally, I would find it a compliment. Compared to me, Swisch has more heart and courage than I will ever have. I like his style, whether I agree with his statements or not..., has nothing to do with it.

GPG!

Don’t want the drama to affect AR? Yeah. Sounds just like Swisch. Wasn’t meant as a compliment or otherwise. If you start to talk the same bunch of non football crap he has, then I’ll decide.

Which Lions team do they want to face off against.

1) A lions team already eliminated with nothing to lose, if Seattle wins?
2) A Lions team with the pressure of needing to win if Seattle loses?

Whichever one it is, the Packers better not bring their C game on either side of the ball. Dan Campbell will have his team fired up, regardless. Whereas the Packers have been known to be a tad slumbering at the wrong time.

Possibly the best 'must-see' game of the season.

I'd prefer another playoff game. Win or go home. Plus, it's always nice to see the shithawks lose, but Rams are pathetic. So it will probably be your #1.

It wasn't about the Packers having to win, it was about which psychological Lion team they'd want to face. Read the question again.

You think this Lions team is the same as the last 30 years, then you are just blind, or committed to ignorance. This Lions team isn't the same as the one that beat GB earlier, this season.

I like #2, pressure can be the worst enemy for many people. I like our chances on that. Quite frankly, I think we blow out the Lions either way. The Lions are a home type team, they have one of the better offenses in the league and the worst defense.

Get this thou, when playing away, they only score around 17 points and at home it was around 33. In addition, in two of the away games they scored 0 and 6. To get their average to around 17 points, they scored 24 against Minnesota and 30 against Chicago, arguably two of the worst defenses in the league. As a betting man, I’m giving up the 4.5 points and taking the Packers.

Either way it’s going to be a battle. After starting out 4 & 8, adversity seems to be the only thing that motivates each 11 to play as one. Go Pack!

On NBC, you say? Does that mean I don't have to listen to FOX and listen to Aikman badmouthing the Packers and see Terry Bradshaw at halftime? Wonderful! What's that you say? Aikman went to some other network this year? I don't care. Good riddance. I bet he is just as much a resentful homer as always. After this week I think the Pack needs to stay off FOX as much as possible :) GPG!

The thing is Seattle has to lose no matter when they play for the lions to have a chance. Pack win doesn't matter what Seattle does.

This game should be the Sunday game—they made the right decision.
As for the weather—cold weather games are the most overrated advantage in sports. Hot weather however is a completely different story. I’ve attended three of the warmest games on record and was absolutely brutal.
Go Packers!!!

I hear NBC is involved. So, I won't have to watch Terry Bradshaw at halftime or listen to Troy Aikman bash the Packers on FOX? Wonderful! A word please! In 2013, Aikman left CBS for another channel. Not that it matters to me. As far as I'm concerned, it's about time they left. It's safe to assume he's still the same disgruntled homer he's always been. I believe it's best if the Pack avoids FOX as much as possible after this week. GPG!

Anyone who thinks the Lions won't be going full throttle is really off the mark. A win against Green Bay at home would cement what is building in Detroit. The Packers are playing very well(overall) right now so this game should be a dogfight. Unlike the Vikings who wet their pants and went home, the Lions operate on sheer guts sometimes. I've been impressed with them for awhile.
Unlike the Vikes, whose offensive line stunk, the Lions have an excellent offensive line. They have an excellent defensive line. Goff is playing like he actually belongs in the NFL, unlike his time at the Rams.

The key to the game is a quick start for the Packers. If they come out slow like they often do, it might be too late. Detroit can put up points.
The Packers must win but it won't be easy.

BTW-Detroit has two first round picks, two second round picks and a third rounder in the top 80 selections in the April draft. Keep your eye peeled for the Motor City.

Happy to get a notice yesterday from the Packers that they had tickets available because the Lions had returned some of their allotment -- a perhaps small but nonetheless encouraging sign of our home field advantage.

Wow, the feature game of the weekend?

Obviously, it's a must-win for the Packers (win and get in, lose and go home), but the dynamic will be different for the Lions. I think they'll play hard either way, but would rather the Seahawks win, so they'll have just a little less incentive.

Either way, the Pack has to play just as well as versus the Vikings.
(I'm compartmentalizing, as, well, last night's game was tough -- prayers for Damar Hamlin.)

I like the Lions and Packers but the Lions cant go to the playoffs (assuming Seattle kicks the Rams ass) so its Packer football all the way.
Should be a good game and I wouldnt take the Lions lightly but they have shown a weakness to stop the run so we should have a big edge and of course the fans too.
