As the NFL world reacts to a blockbuster trade by the Rams, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has a few avenues to explore when possibly adding pieces to what should be a Super Bowl-caliber roster.

Great job Aaron on squashing the 1/2 dozen naysayers who still bitch about the Parsons trade. Woe are the Packers for giving up 2 first round picks. The Rams have traded 7 of their last 10 first round picks and have been pretty damn successful. Yeah, sometimes teams get lucky at the bottom of the first round and find a gem, in reality the whole draft is a crapshoot. Green Bay won the Parsons trade, and the Rams have an uber successful strategy of trading 1st round picks and still being very good.
The price for Sweat is probably a 5th round pick. If we could trade for Sweat and adding Trey Benson to boot for a 4th round pick, I am all for it. His money in 2026 is like $10 million, $18 million in 2027 & 2028. If we trade for Sweat would it be a 1 year deal? Would we move him next year so the young guys can still develop? We got a 4th for Gary from the hapless Cowboys, maybe they would give us a 3rd for Sweat.
I am still more supportive of just signing Clowney or Epenesa for $5 million or less. These would still be very strong insurance signings and any normal veteran player would thrive across from Parsons. Just sign Clowney now and get it done. Buy a RB for a 6th or 7th round pick and then move on to fixing the backups @ TE & OL.

A blocking TE is O line adjacent, helping our offense score points, and a lot cheaper. $27MM in cap space quickly gets chewed up by re-signing our own players and can't be done on the $9MM remaining after trading for Sweat.
RB can be added anytime, including after we know what #8's situation actually is.
I don't predict what GB will actually do.

Read this comment today: "Yes, the Cowboys did call on Sweat yesterday, but were turned away. TB sent an offer of a 4th, but were denied. Sweat wants Green Bay, and if that fizzles out, the Eagles are his #2."
Guter better get on plane to AZ. It's time to pull another gamer and get Sweat to the Pack. This is not the time to stand around and watch. Imagine Parsons & Sweat on the end ready to sack the QB. That would be a formative D line. Get on it - Guter. The time is now! The Patriots did. The Rams did. Don't let the Eagles do it. Pull the trigger and let the Pack do it!

Wow that is really interesting Harley. Do the Eagles really need or even want Sweat? Don't they have an Edge/LB named Nolan Smith who was in the news in May of this year for driving 135 mph in a 70 mph zone? Unless they were wanting to move on from him, I don't see them wanting Sweat, although they have new cap room after trading Brown. The Eagles are aggressive and will add to their player groups even if they are strong but I don't see them wanting Sweat back after letting him leave once already.
GB could be in a great position if Sweat is down to 1 team. Give them a 4th because we will have 4 next year, but they have to throw in Trey Benson-RB. Fill 2 holes with 1 trade would be a great move. Sweat is cheap this year @ $9-10 million. We could trade him next year so the young guys get a shot.

The Josh Sweat stuff is interesting. After 3 years in the league, he had 10 sacks and had gotten in on 60 tackles. That's less than Lukas Van Ness has after 3 years. Sweat then had a stretch of seasons where he was dependable and productive. Maybe we're being too hasty with Van Ness.
