If I understood Gutekunst correctly, he said that if Alexander isn't going to be on the team then we need some compensation. To me, that means the Packers are actively marketing him....if a team wants him, they shouldn't count on him just being released.

The Packers have made the playoffs two straight years without much help from Alexander, they've gone from #17, to #10, to #6 defense without much help from him.

I've thought all along he was finished in Green Bay. I'm expecting a draft day trade where we maybe get a pick for him, or he helps us move up in the draft. I mean a team that's drafting #11 might trade their #11 for our #23 and Alexander. Something along those lines.

Seriously....you can't make this sh*t up. This is what I get for staying off this site for almost a month? So we're moving up to #11. Cool!!

Boy, you really have trouble with figurative language, don't you?

You think it's completely unrealistic to think that Alexander could be used to move up in the draft. Fine.

You come back from a break, and your first post is a shot at me. Because you're obsessed with me.

I hope that GM at #11 has a long term lease dropping 12 picks in the 1st round for Alexander. How many games has he missed the last 2 years? But I'm sure you know more about this stuff than I do.

Again, figurative language.

I’m thinking a trade of Jaire more in second round say Jacksonville our 54 for their 36 and they really need some cb help

I read this as Gutekunst saying we want him back but he needs to want to be here. also, he's not going to cut him. If he wants out his agent can find a deal for him.

Like Tom Petty said, the looming is the hardest part, but we shall have resolution and in the end that's all that matters. I think in our own ways each of us are looming for resolution on many things, mostly subconsciously.

I don't know. All I can say is I've been seeing nothing but mock drafts and trade rumors since before the season even ended and I'm ready to see what Gute does in the draft, training camp, the final roster and a real game..

I don’t know what’s worse:

The silence of the looms
Or
Rival GM’s thinking they’re gonna take Jaire away
With their money and their cocaine

Every game counts in the standings. The secondary is better with JA than without. I would not part with him for pennies on the dollar.

I heard that JA's agent has also been given permission by Gutekunst to try and find a deal. When has that ever worked? At this point it's all about the salvage value for JA. However, potentially interested GMs are playing the waiting game with the Packers - which Gutekunst can also do. My belief is that Gutekunst has a firm asking price for JA (thinking a 3rd). If no suitable offer - then JA remains with the team this year. It's noteworthy that JA is currently physically OK. And - after the 2nd round - the quality of the CB class significantly falls off. So just releasing JA is not something that I'm anticipating.

It’s a common way of saying “put up or shut up! The balls in your court” in negotiations. It suggests we have a spectrum of assumptions and expectations and we doubt anyone else will go beyond them, but feel free to surprise us or get a grip on reality.

The team is better with a healthy - repeat - healthy JA than without. If there are no takers for a move up package including him or a stand alone no later than the 4th, I would keep him. Depending on record and health,he could possibly be moved to a contender at the trade deadline for more than he can now. IF the pack is contending and he is healthy, it's a big win.
