Packers Coaching in High School: Week 5 Preview

Former wide receiver Don Beebe hopes to keep his undefeated record intact tonight as head coach of Aurora Christian in Illinois.

Several former Green Bay Packers players now coach in the high school ranks. Here's a brief update on this week's games...

  • Bryce Paup's Green Bay Southwest Trojans (2-2) hope to rebound from last week's 21-14 loss to Dexter McNabb's Pulaski Red Raiders. This week Southwest travels to Sheboygan South.
  • Pulaski, meanwhile, hopes to improve on their 4-0 record under McNabb as athletics director and fullbacks coach. They travel to Green Bay Preble tonight.
  • Former tight end Mark Chmura, as an assistant coach at Waukesha West, hopes his Wolverines stay undefeated (4-0) as they host Milwaukee Pius XI.
  • Sturgeon Bay (2-2), with former quarterback Randy Wright as offensive coordinator, looks to get above .500 as they play at home against Oconto tonight.
  • Former wide receiver Don Beebe aims to keep his Aurora Christian (Ill.) Eagles undefeated (3-0) as they play host to Guerin College Prep.
  • As head coach of St. Andrews Episcopal in Austin, Tex. (2-1), former quarterback Ty Detmer hosts Oakridge this evening.
  • Former wide receiver Andre Rison is head coach at Flint Northwestern in Michigan who hosts Ortonville-Brandon tonight. They lost a squeaker 22-21 to Cedar Springs last week.
  • St. Vincent-St. Mary's of Akron, Oh. will try to keep their undefeated (3-0) record intact as host Euclid tonight. With former safety Mark Murphy as assistant coach, they beat St. Johns 39-14 last week.
  • With former linebacker Ben Taylor as an assistant coach, Skyline High School in Front Royal, Va. (0-2) tries to get their first win tonight as they travel to Brentsville District High. They lost on Monday to Fauquier 55-20.
