Packers Blog Roundup: James Jones Is A.J. Hawk Circa 2010 Week 1

Wide receiver James Jones is reminded that linebacker A.J. Hawk didn't play in the 2010 season opener on defense.

Lombardi Ave. has a nice reminder for wide receiver James Jones. The blog post reads, "Jones needs to take a look at the tape from last season, especially that first game in Philly, and watch how many times Hawk’s feet touched the field." For those that need a reminder, Hawk didn't play at the beginning of last season in favor of a starting duo comprised of Nick Barnett and Brandon Chillar.

Calling for Ryan Grant to get far fewer carries than James Starks is Shane Arman of Arman's Titletown Talk. "James Starks is the franchise running back and the sooner the Packers realize he deserves 70 percent of the touches, the sooner they become a TRUE multi-dimensional offense capable of keeping the best defenses guessing run/pass on every play," writes Arman. "Then we’ll see how great this Packers team can really be."

Thoughts on Charles Woodson's recent $10,000 fine are provided from the NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora via NFL.com. “I know Woodson may not have a history with this kind of stuff, much less a deep history, and that’s always a huge factor in these decisions,” La Canfora is quoted as saying. “But for those who claim a double standard in some of these circumstances, well, they’ll use this as fodder for their argument, rightly or wrongly.”

Outside linebacker Vic So'oto sat out of practice yesterday after participating the previous day. Brandon Benson of Acme Packing Company reacts. "It's a bummer that ever since Green Bay Packers rookie LB Vic So'oto had his big game against the Chiefs during the preseason, he's been off the field due to an injury he suffered in the weight room," writes Benson. "I think his return would be welcome on special teams too after their kick coverage allowed a couple long returns by RB Darren Sproles."

Previewing the Packers-Panthers game in a video is Tyler Dunne of JSOnline.

And Jones did? Jones was mobbed by reporters in the locker room and was asked questions about it incessantly, mostly so that certain writers could continue on with their "How will the Packers offense keep everyone happy" storylines they've been developing all summer.

JJ is a veteran. On this team. He knows how to interact with the media. He knows what he is doing and he knows what he is saying.

Darn right!... The more this jones story develops the more angry I get at the G.B. media. What if jordy has 1 catch this week? What if it's driver, or jennings? It's like the media is trying to sabotage them or something. Can we just be happy the packers have a no.1 receiver, and four no.2's. Stop creating these stories, or I'll stop buying your papers.

It's always something. What are the odds that if he didn't say he wanted more playing time that there would be an equal number of complaints along the lines of "After he signs a contract he doesn't even care about playing time? He's all about the money obviously. What a bum."?

I can't understand the fans calling for Starks to carry the majority if not all of the workload NOW. This team isn't going TO the playoffs on James Starks back, but it sure can ride a fresh James Starks through the playoffs that wasn't overburdened/overworked during the regular season.

Keep him healthy, keep him fresh. His real value is in early December onwards.
