ATTENTION NAYSAYERS

Gutey appreciation post.

Haters can hate, but Gutey carries the G like a G. He's been with this organization for damn near 30 years. I have no doubt he wants nothing more than to bring championships to GB. I think he can do it. I believe he's an easy top 10 GM who has gotten better at his job over time and hasn't yet peaked. I think he's handled some really difficult decisions and situations pretty well and as he should have. He's usually right when moving on from players and he's been pretty damn good at adding solid players via FA, he's got a better than league average batting average in those two categories. He's added good talent via the draft. I like this roster and think it could pop. The offense is loaded with a bonus Lloyd and Musgrave. The defense could really be nasty if Covington gets the boys up front getting after it, and last year was really about the foot for Kenny, Wyatt will be motivated. LVN no cast breakout year upcoming? Quay and Cooper should be a nasty duo. What if they just let Simmons go get ball? Those 3 on the field together is a tantalizing proposition. Safety is good, and deep. CB will be fine sans cluster injuries. Should field a fine starting O-line with a few serviceable backups.

To me it was fairly obvious last year that the offense never fully recovered from the Love week 1 injury or the subsequent dings. He didn't look right, or comfortable most of the year and the entire offense just never looked or functioned quite right because of it. Lafleur had to change how he called the game. Handoffs out of shotgun, no play action, yay. I think Love is about to have a Stellar year if he stays healthy and Lafleur is going to have some fun calling plays for the weapons at his disposal. This offense is going to be a problem, and this team is going to be tough to beat. We've even got a kicker who can make some kicks. 🤯

It's time. It. Is. Time.

I appreciate the comment and agree mostly. I would like clarity on why Gute believes Quay Walker is such an important piece, important enough for an extension? I will admit my inability to evaluate talent and I am not the foremost authority on defensive ILB play. However, with that said, in watching Quay, to me, his most notable plays have been the two that got him ejected from two separate games. I would love to hear how much I am wrong, and my mind is open to hearing it, but I thought we had our best Backers out last year when he was hurt. Do mean to be a hater but it really does not compute. I am excited for this coming year and I do believe that Gute is getting much better at Draft Pick-ing, especially in the early rounds.
