Kevin King will miss Sunday's game vs the Bears

Center Josh Myers will return after missing last week's game against the Bengals.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur indicated during his final press conference of the week that veteran cornerback Kevin King will miss Sunday's game against the Bears with a shoulder injury suffered during the Bengals game.

LaFleur also indicated that Rasul Douglas, a cornerback who the Packers signed off the Cardinals practice squad two weeks ago, will be active for the Packers for the first time.

The shoulder injury is the latest in a long line of disappointing injuries for King, who had a history of shoulder injuries coming out of Washington.

LaFleur was less committal to Jaylon Smith's potential for playing time, though he did indicate seeing the former Cowboys linebacker on Sunday remained a possibility.

On the offensive side of the ball, Josh Myers will be back in the lineup, having practiced all week after missing the Bengals game with a finger injury.

Myers' fellow offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins, however, is still listed as Questionable with his ankle injury. Jenkins was a limited participant in all three practices this week, which suggests he will most likely miss yet another game.

The team also announced that they have placed WR Malik Taylor on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Of note for the Bears, Akiem Hicks is Questionable with a groin injury and Khalil Mack is Questionable with a foot injury.

At what point is the front office going to admit that resigning him was a mistake?

Then who else? And dont forget we have an expanded Practice squad with receivers on it? So who do we bring up? If you are talking about Taylor. If you are talking about King - once again who else? We took his replacement in the draft and the only other option was to get some long in the tooth guy because we filled up with other people's cuts and recently signed another. I didnt think that the play would cause that bad of an injury but then again one can never tell from what one sees on TV.

I'm talking about King, dude cant stay healthy if his life depended on it and he cant even cover a runny nose. We went ahead and signed him to a 5 million dollar contract, granted that's not all gonna count against the cap, while Tampa signed Richard Sherman a few weeks ago to a 1.35 million dollar contract. Even if Sherman isn't in his prime anymore I would still rather have him on the field than Kevin King any day of the week

First off wouldnt have Sherman if he was the last man standing and he walked into dressing room before the half was over last night. I agree King is a bandaid and some guys play through it and some guys cant. And our staff makes sure that if they are not 110% that they dont play. I agree at the start of the season maybe it is best for them to fully recover especially with groins. But not sure if King was a mistake because he can tackle but cant cover. And maybe you are correct he just wanted to get paid and then watch from the sidelines. Anyway Stokes beat him out and that was obvious and maybe he will come back in a month and be healthy for the rest of the season - and we will see that.

Just to make it clear, we are talking about this Kevin King who "can tackle"?

If you would truly take King over Sherman then you need to lay off your crack pipe lmfao

I couldn't agree more Caden! The ONLY consistent thing about King is his usual poor play and his never ending injuries! And for $5Mil we get yet another season of King? I would have loved to see Sherman on GB. When will the Pack move on from this guy and admit it was a high draft choice that didn't work out? How many of us would like to have jobs like King's where he makes multi-million dollars, can justify to his bosses that his dismal performance is OK and be off sick more often than on the job? Only in GB apparently...

When they move on from Gutedkunst,low-ball and Murphy. They bagged two CBs from this draft which was commendable, but bringing back bad karma and damaged goods shows a level of desperation or incompetence.

Sherman is washed. 2020 he barely played because of injury. And, uh, he's also now out with a hammy, apparently at least for two weeks.

Not saying King is anywhere close to being the answer at CB, he's clearly not, but he isn't nearly as bad as you portray (2020 stats were middling-ok as I recall). It's his injury history that kills his value as a 2nd CB much more than his ability, but signing/not signing him for a year at $5mm also is hardly worth banging the drum over. He was definitely needed last week and graded out fine in the game...but...availability is the best ability.

And his "sure fire" replacement before the season started was whom again??????? Sherman as the alternative is laughable. Everyone else can only be considered from the comfort zone of 20/20 hindsight. Meaning, this is simple fan sloshing not reasonable debate. But do carry on. Fan sloshers r us! Thanks

GB could have signed Witherspoon, Nelson, or Casey Hayward for less (plus some others I preferred by don't remember anymore). Witherspoon got hurt and played just 4 snaps. Nelson has a 71 PFF grade and has played 99% of possible snaps. Would Hayward return to GB? IDK. Anyway, GB stayed with the devil they knew and rolled the dice on King.

King has time to get healthy and help GB when it counts. Time will tell.

I kind of agree on Hayward. As I said above I didnt mind them bringing back KIng - despite his injury record and his past history of letting guys go free . But thought he wasnt playing badly when they shifted him around. Now I wouldnt have mind them bringing back Hayward - dont mind the leadership roll that some of the older vets can bring into the locker room - and many teams let some of their past guys return and have a swan song. But definitely not Sherman - both for his demonstrated past attitude, he wasnt here before and was too long in the tooth ( ie over-rated for what we needed).

King was signed to a 1 year contract after drafting Stokes with the #1 pick. The team did not know how Stokes would develop, but so far its looking good. Teams need 5-6 CB's due to injuries every year. King gave up only 17 yards last game and was graded #3 on defense behind Clark and Campbell. I am not a King fan, and he will be gone after this season. His contract was reworked in training camp and he is due only $1.5 million. Fans will have to live with him, either on the roster or injured list. The coaches like him, so blame the coaches and not Gute.

Doubt they’ll ever admit re-signing King was a mistake; but as long as he isn’t playing, I don’t care about that.. You just can’t consistently let receivers get that much separation either in front or the side; and then his inability to stay behind them on deep balls is the icing on the cake. His open field tackling is mediocre. He’s a liability more often than not. The defense is simply worse when he’s out there.

Kevin King gets hurt walking out to his car in the morning. Thus, he is always coming off an injury and ends up having to get himself back in synch when he does play.

Why that is rewarded with a big contract I am not sure.

If players like Douglas and Dunbar were available before the season I easily prefer them at half the price or less than the weekly will King be out there or not discussions.

I was really hoping that we had Jenkins back . Although, it sounds like Mack and Hicks are not 100%.

I'm betting that either Hicks or Mack see some playing time in this game. Seems Nagy-like to keep MLF guessing on who will be playing.

Packers have to approach it as if they're both going to play.

Even more Nagy-like to keep himself guessing who will be playing. At best, the guy has a tenuous grasp of the obvious. We can only hope he stays with the Bears another 10 years.

I guess they were hoping he wouldn't miss more than 2 games. It seems to be a fairly significant sprain. He may be back soon but he'll be playing on an ankle that will probably still bother him for a good while. No guarantee on Bakh's date of return. It's good that Yosh and Runyan have come through.

Jenkins was not put on IR as he practiced this week in a limited fashion. I don't know if he practiced last week, but the injury didn't appear bad enough for trainers to put him on IR. Its an ankle, and won't know until Sunday morning if he is playing.

I'm glad the Packers are saying King is out for the Bears game. I'd rather have him out than to play injured where he would be exploited on every passing play the Bears could come up with. How is Jaire coming along in his recovery? Jaire and Stokes are the Packers best CBs and I cannot wait to get both of them on the field together, again. With Savage and Amos, as Safeties behind Jaire and Stokes, the Packers have a formidable secondary.

King is getting paid handsomely to sit in the hot tub every day.
He's got a pretty good gig going.
I personally can't wait until he's gone.

Due to his body type, King is prone to injury. Yet I still think that he is an above average CB. He played well before his latest injury. I look around the league and see a whole lot of CB’s struggle with today’s modern offenses. We all remember his mistakes but I see the same or worse on other teams.
This team sure has struggled to get an elite CB with our early picks until Alexander and probably Stokes.

If you don't draft them and pay them a little for a few years. You have to pay up and get a solid vet. We are not yet paying any CB great money. JA will be the first one I can think of to make big money. Maybe Woodson but I think GB made out on that contract also....especially from a HOF player. Money will have to be spread around on defense and Jenkins also. Tonyan does not look like he is going to get close to that 10 TD's of last season. Need a vet getting paid and an heir apparent in several positions to get enough talent to compete. I think CB just came into that ideal window.

this is really disappointing. king played very well against the bengals, and was looking like he was getting his confidence back. as much as we hate on him, he did have a solid 2019. the ability is there. and we saw that ability against cincinatti. hope he gets better soon because we will need him. dunbar and douglas will make all of us miss having kevin king, that much yall can count on.
